  1. Could simply be a bad rod period. Perhaps the other sections is where the real problem lies. There is no 100% quality control for anyone so it could be just one of those odd balls that got through. I would take the replacement and if that one gives you problems then go for the refund.
  2. LOVE IT!
  3. Rain would be nice, not just for the rivers but the farmers too. I work in agriculture and man it's been a tough go so far. Time will tell.
  4. Agreed. But the low levels I've already seen are what worries me. As I said though it was only a couple of streams. It looks like the Bow water sheds are looking alright. The streams I have seen that are lower than usual were on the Red Deer water shed now that I think about it.
  5. Yes. I found it at the liquor store by my place. I live in Coventry Hills. It is in the liquor store by the Blockbuster.
  6. I didn't want to hijack flyartist's thread any further but I found that scotch for any of you scotch lovers. I haven't tried it YET. http://www.thefattrout.com/onlymaltsstory.html
  7. Cool! I don't like Vodka, more of a Scotch guy. I found a Scotch that was distilled for Trout fishing. Can't remember the name though.
  8. Thanks headscan for the info. I was hoping it was just a slow and steady runoff rather than lack of snowpack. I can't remember the year but something similar happened like this year in the year I'm thinking of and put some pressure on the streams. As a result the fishing the following year was a bit slower due to the higher temps and lower levels. Fish were stressed and easily found the year of the lack of runoff, not to mention being over caught. I guess I'll have to be more aware of the levels and water temp this year and try to give the fish a break where necessary.
  9. I've been out to a couple of smaller water sheds and noticed the water level now is not much higher than it was late fall of last year. I've also noticed the streams haven't really blown out like they do in previous years, that is they didn't really "muddy" up and are quickly dropping in levels. Does this mean runoff is just really slow and steady rather than one big rush or there simply wasn't enough precipitation (snow and rain) for runoff to occur like previous years? Now these are just some streams I have observed, does anybody have amy other observations? I'm just concerned if levels are already low and runoff is done rather than slow and steady I shudder to think what will happen to some of the smaller creeks.
  10. Check the hatch charts and try Edworthy Park, Bowness Park, Varsity. I've always had success in those areas.
  11. I'm doing a week myself in August as long as weather and everything holds. Check the hatch chart on the home page of this website, that'll tell you what flies you need.
  12. Sounds like a great day. I too enjoy the little cutties.

    Lake Fishing Trip

I'm very jealous! Great pics and fish. Looks like a blast.
  14. As maxwell said check out the creek itself. You'd be surprised if your timing is right.
  15. Are there still perch to be bonked? Jeepers just get a stick of TNT.
  16. That never crossed my mind. Sounds like you are familiar with that routine though.
  17. I have a few weeks off coming up and just wondering of some suggestions for camping on the FTR. I've driven it, fished it, but never camped it. I'll be all alone and I'm gonna do some exploring of creeks and streams I've never fished before. That is if the weather cooperates and we don't end up in a camping and fishing ban again. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Feel free to PM me too if you like. Thanks in advance...
  18. I just made a similar comment to Birchy last week. There is one place I have been going for ten years and it's less than 500m from the main highway. Very rarely are there others there and when there is it's only a couple of guys and it's nice actually speaking with them and sharing some stories and fishing "secrets". I was always thought that was part of this gig.
  19. Love the macro photos.
  20. I agree. They are also great at getting the nymph rig down fast with their added weight.
  21. Yup it do.
  22. What a rip! I'd be pretty cheesed too. I hope it all works out well for you.
  23. Thanks guys. It's what I thought it would be cause it's a Canon.
  24. I like to carry a spare spool and line with me (usually a sink tip line on the spare) but I'm wondering if multi tip lines work well like the Quad Tip from SA. Does anyone have any experience with these lines? Any thoughts on what the better system is multi tip vs. two spools?
  25. It looks like Canon has finally come out with a waterproof point and shoot. Does anyone have any experience with it? I'm a big fan of Canon and I'm thinking of changing from my Pentax Optio to the Canon.
