  1. I hate water bottles when riding, much prefer a camel bak. Easier to use, right there when you need it and don't have to take your hands off the handle bars to take a sip. I have 1 camel bak hydration system that goes between my day hike, snowboarding and bike riding packs. Really easy to switch out and great value. I would also look at upgrading your seat. Gel seats are pretty sweet in combination with biking shorts. Makes for a much more comfortable day on long rides.
  2. Very nice Jeremie, bet those were fun to pull in.
  3. Went out to K country and area this past weekend. We caught a couple of these guys all about the same size. The picture with my blackberry is a little deceiving, they look much darker, in real life they were really lightly colored with a lot less intense spotting. I initially thought it was a bull trout but was later corrected by FNG and Birchy that they were Lake Trout. Pretty cool to catch from shore and they put a pretty good fight for such cold water. Cheers
  4. I would bring some benzodiazepine and t-bone steak, 5 minutes that puppy will be asleep....
  5. Smitty does this mean you would rather Matt date your daughter than give up your spring creeks....hmmmmm interesting
  6. I caught my first fish last year when I was 29.... Heck I was super excited. I can't imagine what I would have been like to do it at the age. Awesome weekend for him!
  7. Who does this crap? Honestly it takes some pretty hefty and heavy snips to get through barbed wire, and this is not something I would consider as an essential item in my goin' fish'n kit. Probably the same people who think leaving garbage behind is okay and that throwing out your cigarette butts on the ground is okay. It only takes 1 to ruin it for all.
  8. http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-buy-and-sell-sp...QAdIdZ281613971 Nothing like the scorn of a woman. She is selling all of his stuff on kijiji. If you recognize any of the gear maybe you will let him know before it is too late.
  9. Hopefully they haven't mutated into their cousin the Nile perch....you could be in for a fish that fights back.
  10. Hey Have been contemplating the purchase of a pontoon for awhile now. Read some of the reviews but would like to see what board members think of this one. Outcast Fish Cat Streamer XL- IR Pontoon Boat Seems like it would be okay for Bow and possibly some lakes. Thoughts?
  11. Nice Job Greg Can't wait to get out again and see the new skillz/ I went out from about 5-7 last night. Chocolate was the word, tons of bug life, but tough fishing for sure. Managed 1 small rainbow that would have made a nice meal for your monster before I called it quits. J
  12. Snowshoe fishing? Sounds fun!
  13. Plan on using it for a Steelheading trip in late august. I like the idea of the kit, but I have not even picked up a spey rod let alone try to cast one. I would have no idea about whether something is right or not. I just wanted to get something that would be workable for the time being so that I can practice before heading out to BC
  14. So I won the auction for the 14ft 9wt TFO rod. Been doing some research and I think I have come up with two choices that would work. Or I could be totally wrong. Let me know either way. Need a line before I attempt to learn. I contacted TFO and they recommended 550 grain short belly Option1 Rio skagit multi tip 550 grain. $174 Option 2 SA Mastery Series Spey Shorthead Multi Tip. On sale for $90 regular $174. They don't have the grain weight of 550 but call it a 9wt line. Is this the same as 550 grain? Google wouldn't tell me. I like this deal just for the price, but ultimately will pick what will work best with the rod. If my research is right I think these lines would work? Am I correct or totally wrong? I truly know nothing yet....but it will come.
  15. Will you actually be able to take the kids fishing? I know with the district I teach in you can't have kids within 100 feet of water due to liability issues. Even going to a pool requires about 8 pages of paperwork per kid. It is sad how little you can actually do with the kids.
  16. Ummmm by choice? Or does your personality have a little too much musk?
  17. Cool, seems like a bit of interest. PM me your bb pin and I will add you to the group. I have also left it open so if you want to add anyone to the group you are more than welcome to it. J
  18. What about quirk creek. Only 35 minute drive to parking lot from cochrane and another 45 minutes to hike into. He will get a fishing trip and hiking trip all in one.
  19. Hey I am in a snowboarding blackberry messenger group. Whenever someone wants to go, offering a ride, or needs partners they post to the BB group. You can also upload pictures, calendars events etc. Just wanted to see if anyone would be interested in a flyfishing around Calgary one. Unfortunately it would be exclusionary because you need to have a blackberry and messenger. If there is some interest shown here after a couple of days I will create the group. You would just have to PM your BB pin so I could add you. Cheers Jason
  20. They have a redneck fishing tournament in Illinois for these invasives every year. Check out the site. Looks fun and dangerous. 40 lbs of fury flying at your face. Watch the video on the left, guy gets a huge blackeye and broken nose. http://www.redneckfishingtournament.com/ We should put an FCC team in next year.
  21. I think you made your point extremely well. Referencing the illegal squatters and how you took the responsible route was a nice touch. It will be interesting to see what if any response you get. Btw I love that campground. Found it last year when I was exploring the area with my rod, stayed 3 days and was planning on more this summer. Good luck hopefully your letter changes their mind.
  22. Thanks for the reminder about licenses. Didn't know you could do it online at home, I was able to renew my WIN card and buy this years license while watching New Flyfisher and Flymax re-runs on Saturday. Now I am primed and ready for the upcoming season. Cheers
  23. Hey So I am headed to Oahu at the end of March and thought I would do a day of guided fly fishing and possibly some beach casting. Seeing as I have never used a guide before or fished in the ocean (I have only been fly fishing for a year on the bow) I am a little worried about the experience. I bought a new rod and reel (9ft ticr and reddington delta reel) and have been out practicing casting. I am hoping that I can put a fly in the right spot to get a chance at some bones or other fish. Anyhow I have some questions 1) How good at casting should I be before I go. I think that I am okay on the bow, but being on the ocean with the wind and distances has me nervous now. 2) I did not purchase flies or tippet because I thought that he will be the expert in this area so I would wait to see. Will they provide this or should I go to a shop early and pick up some stuff? 3) Do you pay before or after the day? Do you tip? How much and why? Seems like $450 is a lot for a full day already but I don't want to be cheap. 4) Should I only expect that we will target 1 type of fish (bones) or if bone fishing isn't so good is it fair to ask to target some other species. 5) I realize that guiding is very different from teaching, but I imagine I am going to have a ton of questions since I have never done this before. Is it out of the question to expect that he be as good as a teacher as he is a guide? I guess that is it for now, but I am sure more questions might come up.
