  1. Obviously not an obediance trained Bull Moose !! I would have been concerned.
  2. My Old fishin pal recently deceased, used to say he would see moose in the channels near the weir. For all the years I fished the Bow, I have not seen them until a week ago. There was actually three in the side channels. Have any of you, seen them in the area before?? Just another treat to see while on the water.
  3. We got our lottery ticket
  4. Fear no Deer or Sasquatch with that set up, WOW!!!
  5. It did hit hard, but not hard enough to dislodge the worms you gave me. I had little time to react as it was a blind corner, with hedges, so it was there right fricken now. Because it had just bounded over a fence,or hedge and was bounding again, it had the height of the windshield, so I angled off to graze the side, as I was worried it would hit the glass, on my wifes side. At least it did not suffer. Over $7k to the truck and bent my boat trailer axle.
  6. Actually, No I have not heard that before. I will try to keep it in mind, if there is a next time. Just found out, at least $7000. damage to the truck, not counting the boat trailer axle. Ouch
  7. On the way home from Carseland yesterday, a big white tail buck was spooked by a truck on a side road, and jumped in my path at 100 km/hr. Luckily I saw him from the corner of my eye and tried to slightly angle, so as to not hit straight on. Outcome, 1 dead dear and a few grand of damage to the side of my truck, and poss a bent boat trailer axle. Not great but could be much worse. My point is, we always have to keep the eyes open. I hear about this stuff at dawn and dusk, not at 3 pm. Be Carerful All. Someone almost crapped her pants.
  8. Jet or prop, I agree Paul, always upstream first, unless below the weir.I will do that when I get back to town, and cant wait. Dont have gear with me.
  9. Hi Rick, Costa Rica is one of my favourite spots for ocean and fresh water, I did the west side.Costa Rica also offers activities for almost any interest and age. Xtapa, Zeehuatinao sp?, in west Mexico was very nice as well. Good luck with your choice. I want to see Cuba some time.
  10. Aside from the occasional Goof on the water, there are a lot of helpful Gents like that around, and thank goodness for that. FL
  11. Thx Eagle, PM sent, and was that a 9/16 wrench?
  12. Hi Tungsten, I test drove a jon yesterday with a 2000 jonson 40/30 jet. He was able to pull start the motor in neutral or forward. Is that usual? Thx
  13. Hi, can any one tell me if it is usual or not to be able to pull start a jet outboard in neutral or forward? Thx
  14. My kill button on my 15 horse does not work. With the key on or off it, the motor will work, but it wont stop if I pull the kill cord, or press the kill button. Does anyone know if this is an easy fix, I could maybe do myself? Would it just be a wire to solder, sp? or more involved? Any input is appreciated. Thx Paul
  15. Hello cgyguy, very considerate of you. Last week I had a man with a jet go thru my hole twice in minutes, and there was lots of room to go elsewhere, so I was very unimpressed, and yet on the otherhand, I run a 14 ft jon w a short shaft 15 on it. At times moving up river if it narrows I have to stay to a certain depth to go thru, and that at times encroaches on fishers, but I will usually try to announce my intentions. I think most boaters will make themselves available if someone needs assistance. Over the years I pulled 2 strugggling swimmers out, and saved a jet boat with motor problems from going over the weir at Carseland. I like to think most of us are considerate, and yet there are a few that really curl my hairs. Keep eveyone in mind. Sound like your new set will make fishing easier on the sore body. Enjoy, I will wave if I see you out there.
  16. That is a great part of FFC, always something to learn, and lots of members offering good info, sometimes even when you don't ask. HA HA Good Luck and keep giving her the old try. I agree in the break it down to smaller sections.
  17. Waayyy Toooo niiice,
  18. Sorry to say, likely $60.00, but that is still not bad, considering no warranty. Better luck next time. Over the years I broke 3 rods. Thank Goodness for warranties.
  19. Is that the Hank that used to have the Shell on Elbow Drive? If so he is very good. Took great care of some family vehicles for years.
  20. Sorry for your loss, they become a big part of the family. I still miss my bullmastiff. He gave me 10 years of great fun and companionship. Almost time for another dog. Nice pics and great colour.
