  1. My Great Uncle, Dad and ex brother in law started me when I was about 5. We also started with spinning gear. I can't count the number of great times I had. The Bow, Pine Lake Macgregor, Minnewanka, Columbia, and of course as a kid, chestermere. As my friends and I brought the kids up the ranks, we would take 3 boats out and drift the Bow. We would put in long hot days, and the kids and us could not get enough. All those kids are now adults with there own kids, and very good fishers, almost all have been on fly for many years. So mentored in the beginning, somewhat mentored and self taught on the fly, and took a course from country pleasures many years ago. I have been on fly for about 20 years, and once again cant count the amazing days, be it on the Bow, Harrison, Fraser, or other countless rivers or lakes. Lost my best fishin bud Greg to cancer a few years ago, but he is always fishing with me. Im sure he has given me the occasional swat on the back of the head, for the odd silly move. Even if the fishing is slow,(not too often), what a way to spend the day. I call it therapy. I am proud to fish anytime with the fine young adults we brought up on the water,(young compared to me that is). Gregs boys being two of them, and Simpson from FFC,and now they have families, and some of the kids are fishing too. Thats the way it is. I have had many kids out over the years, and mentor a developely mental delayed young man who loves time on the water. Pass it on. I would be very happy being remembered as Paul or uncle Paul, who we fished with. And to my fishing Buds, with us or not,and a better half who loves to fish, Thanks !! A very important part of my life.
  2. Hi Dan, Thanks, I have not seen it. It was very helpful. Any other suggestions from FFC members for a good effecient cost effective space heater? A friend in Kimberly likes the mineral oil space heaters. Once again, any input appreciated.
  3. Hello again FFC members,As you have been help in the past, here goes another one. I was just back from Vegas after being stranded for an extra week with a medical emergency in my group. I found an ad in the paper for this LED heater, very cheap to run. I have seen something similar on TV in Canada, but think this may be mor efficient. Does any of you know anything about these heaters. Are they efficient, and if only avail in the USA, what do you think would be paid in duty and tax to get one here. They are sold on line and mail order thru Sears in the USA. Any input is appreciated. Paul
  4. Thx Doc, I will try to get pics, great info. I seem to think I recall you collected Hardy's.
  5. Good Day FFC folks, I have had for quite some time a Hardys St Aidan reel. Do any of you know anything about it? I have only used it once. I think it is quite old. Any info welcome. Based on Mr. Google they have some value, and I think may have been used for steel and salmon. A bit odd as it is a caged spool, and you cant palm it.Thx Paul
  6. CT has them, I think, dont need them now for me. Yeah !!
  7. Lots of good info, Thanks Guys
  8. Jusfloatin, you were right, new axle comes with grease nipples, glad to see it. It is just like a bearing buddy. Happy camper, or should I say fisher. Thx
  9. Thx for all the good feedback guys.
  10. Thanks I will look. Over the years I have got two or three axles on diff trailers, and they have never mentioned that.
  11. Hi FFC folks, recently a deer hit my truck and boat trailer. Lots of damage and bent the axle on the trailer. Standens replaced the axle. The old ones had bearing buddies on it and the new one does not. I am thinking of putting them on the new axle. Standens said not to, suggesting it does not really get the grease to the bearings, that you should regrease when you repack the hub bearings. What do you folks think. Still lean toward adding them.
  12. Howdy All, I really enjoy my plywood floor w marine carpet in my jon. I bought the jon completed that way. I want to do the same for my alum lake boat. Do any of you know where to get marine grade carlet at a decent price? Any feedback is welcome. Thx

  15. Thx guys, Rick is that a V6, and are they full time AWD, or is 4x4 and AWD option choices. What kind of milage do you get? Muha, I had an exterra, and the fuel use scared me. Sounds like yours is a bit better milage. Any Santa Fe folks out there?
  16. Hi Members, I am thinking of downsizing from my 02 ford 1/2 ton to a Ridgeline or Santa Fe, a couple of years old. Do any of you own or have exp with these vehicles? Any feedback is appreciated. Thx Paul
  17. Obviously not an obediance trained Bull Moose !! I would have been concerned.
  18. My Old fishin pal recently deceased, used to say he would see moose in the channels near the weir. For all the years I fished the Bow, I have not seen them until a week ago. There was actually three in the side channels. Have any of you, seen them in the area before?? Just another treat to see while on the water.
  19. We got our lottery ticket
  20. Fear no Deer or Sasquatch with that set up, WOW!!!
  21. It did hit hard, but not hard enough to dislodge the worms you gave me. I had little time to react as it was a blind corner, with hedges, so it was there right fricken now. Because it had just bounded over a fence,or hedge and was bounding again, it had the height of the windshield, so I angled off to graze the side, as I was worried it would hit the glass, on my wifes side. At least it did not suffer. Over $7k to the truck and bent my boat trailer axle.
  22. Actually, No I have not heard that before. I will try to keep it in mind, if there is a next time. Just found out, at least $7000. damage to the truck, not counting the boat trailer axle. Ouch
  23. On the way home from Carseland yesterday, a big white tail buck was spooked by a truck on a side road, and jumped in my path at 100 km/hr. Luckily I saw him from the corner of my eye and tried to slightly angle, so as to not hit straight on. Outcome, 1 dead dear and a few grand of damage to the side of my truck, and poss a bent boat trailer axle. Not great but could be much worse. My point is, we always have to keep the eyes open. I hear about this stuff at dawn and dusk, not at 3 pm. Be Carerful All. Someone almost crapped her pants.
