Brent Schlenker...based out of Medicine Hat.
-
The guy can tie. Brent use to (still think he does) tie commercially and knocks out thousands of flies a year on that thing... and has been doing it since I first met him over 10 years ago. Good fly and a buddy of his (Dale Freschi) loves it...was actually tied for him. It's really just a wooley bugger in different colours, but if you've fished with Dale, he's definately a wooley bugger guy. Brent also has a video of stillwater patterns out there. Never seen it, but it's on my list to buy when I see it again.

There's tonnes of opionions on all brands of rods...do a search on some other sites and you will find threads against Loop...just like any rod out there! Do what is best for you...try some rods in your price range, with the line you're going to use. I've used/owned rods from many companies and there's not many Dogs out there. It's nice to have a cool label on your rod to show off to buddies (that's why many of us are gear collectors), but you have to like using the rod to make sure it gets out of the truck. Bling is good...just like in a bar, you don't notice a girls personality from across the room. So I guess I'm just trying to reiterate what was stated before. Go cast the rod and try to imitate the conditions you will use it under...let that and cost, etc. make your decision.

Nope, but looks like it would be good on a smaller switch rod.

Yup, cradle is what you want.

Oilsands And Acid Rain
bloom replied to SupremeLeader's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Nice, nailing a guy for generalizations and then going ahead and make one of your own about public schools...guessed I missed somewhere what this had to do with schools??? Don't have a clue who Supreme Leader is, but I hope he sticks around. It's nice to have fresh blood on the boards, especially from someone who is somewhat eloquent and knowledgeable...even if you disagree with him, and I do at times. Kind of nice to stir the pot every now and then. I like people who are passionate, even if they are in total disagreement with me, I can at least respect that they care and I run into this quite a bit in my job. -
If the mom would have showed up, and chased the kids down, there probably would be an outcry for putting her down as an aggressive moose in a town. Just the mentality. Would have been a loss of two moose.

Oilsands And Acid Rain

Sorry you're wrong...if we don't talk/become concerned this stuff it will go unchecked...and my daughters life/future is more important than mine. (sorry for getting all poetic..and I'm not even an anti oilsands guy, but not a pro oilsands guy either...it's just that the comment sort of scared me) -
Loon's Top Ride ("shake'n Bake") Inquiry

Been thinking that the powder is more than just ground up silica...thinking it's more along the lines of that "frogs fanny" stuff...anyone know? -
I'm an owner of a Lowe 1232 that I love for lake fishing.

I've casted a lot of rods and only partially agree with this statement. A $200 rod is vastly better than a $50 rod, but as you move up, the gap greatly decreases. A $600 rod is not that much better than a $400 rod and a $400 rod is not that much better than a $300 rod. To some, they may cast the lower priced rod much better, that's why it's so important to go out and cast the rods instead of listening to the full page ad in the magazine. There are a lot of good rods out there today, and there's not many 'dogs' around anymore (as long as you don't shop at Canadian Tire or Wal Mart)

Actually the solution is quite simple...say screw it, cause it's just going to happen again, and go here http://www.apple.com/imac/ That's exactly what I did a few months ago. Love my MacBook.

Trying To Locate A Flyrod Or Blank
bloom replied to Flytyer's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
sounds like the girls may need a trip to calloway park this week....which means I get to fish the bow in the evening. I'll keep in touch with you flytyer. -
Yup, that's the Sara's and Hawg's right...nice people and I believe they do own streambed. There is actually one other place on the Crow I know of where the stream bed is owned...it's downstream of the Collieries and to my knowledge, there is no issue of going through there as the owners don't mind.
-
Came across something big and rotten this Spring on the crow...think it was a horse!
-
really cool.
-
Love that river...looks like you guys were at the Lower Island Pool. Nothing better than kicking back for a day in the same spot and having the salmon all come to you. Spend some time down the street at Haig Brown's house, then a beer on the deck of Painter's Lodge watching the boats come in in the evening. I got to get back.

Just picked up a Rushton Dragon net with standard netting. Looked at getting rubber netting but I like the traditional look better and the rubber adds noticeable weight on a big net. No regrets on my choice. Moby nets also make a good net.
-
Now you got to get that rod out to a lake and toss some chrony rigs with it...phenominal.

Ketchup on a steak...not even a close comparison. Bud light is no steak...maybe ketchup on hotdogs And in the right place, ketchup on hotdogs can be gooood (like on a stick, oven an open fire when camping and beer in hand) Now speaking of good beers, how about an Innis and Gunn, or Guinness, or even Rickards Red. Will even swig the Alexander Keiths when those Easterners give me one
-
Was going to say the exact same thing...been drinking it for a while in the states and no big deal. But the Miller Chill...love the Salt and will be bringing some back when I go down tomorrow. Not sure why Bud light lime is more popular than the chill. Bud also has out a Spicy Clamato beer also. Actually pretty good too with lots of salt and kick.

I love Glenmorangie...probably the best bang for the buck as quality scotch goes. I've never taken to anything BUT their original though. Heard some good things about the 3 wood, will have to try a bottle. ...and as the cheap stuff goes, I actually like Glenfiddich. The original is good, but the Solera Risierva (sp?) was great. Glenlivet isn't really worth my time though.
-
Right now...scotch for the flask, Glenmorangie...scotch for the evening, Brudladdich.

Flies For West Glacier- Middle Fork
bloom replied to Golfman09's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Normal cutty patterns...for me that's yellow humpy, stimmie style flies, beetles, and drakes. On the Middle fork, there's lots of Rafter put ins...find one of these and go from there. The Middle Fork is some of the best water around there, but don't expect much. It's worth some time, but it's not like the Livingstone, Oldman etc.
