  1. There was a few back in a couple pools, I had a couple chasers after some cutties but I didint even think to bring the big stuff with me. I wont forget next time!
  2. Since the pics have been a little slow coming as of late. I have decided to post a few that I never got around to posting back when i went on the trip. These waters are no secret, but I practically grew up fishing the one stretch so make a point of fishing it every year just to see how it changes. And the fall foilage makes it that much more enjoyable........
  3. That beetle pattern is money. Its one of my go to late season flies. The foam on the back is so ripped and tattered there is almost nothing left. When i bought it I only got 1 and I am suprised I havent lost it yet. I tied up a few more a couple nights ago for when I loose the original
  4. I can just hear the story now " I got a blu ray player for (insert amount here) , it was a great deal!!! And I only had to stampede someone else to the ground to do it"!!!! I heard that there was also an 8 months pregnant women also hurt.
  5. Northern Ontario
  6. One of the days I was guiding, we were drifting our way through the bay that I put my biggest fish of the summer in the boat in last year and we notice a fish floating dead on the water. As we drift closer we decided to go over and take a look at see how big it was. When we got there we realized that the fish wasnt dead at all but another fish of equal size had the fish T boned across the back. The one was floating like it was dead belly up and the other one was completely vertical in the water hanging onto it. One of the guys grabbed his rod and tapped the fish that had the other one by its back on the head with his rod tip. The fish let go and slowly swam away, while the other fish floated there for a while before turning back right side up and also swam away. One of the weirdest things I have seen, and given the fact that these fish were'nt small either, we figured around 42"
  7. I had it happen to me more times this summer then I remember, usually once every couple days, some days 3 or 4 times a day. Reeling up a small or lots of times even not so small walleye or pike and having a much bigger fish follow it right to the boat and more often then not taking a wack at it right at the boat. Alot of times the guests will try to set the hook on it, not that there is a hook in the bigger pikes mouth to set, and they end up breaking the line off, which means a nice meal for the pike. In fact, the biggest walleye I pulled up this summer with teeth marks around its back was 25". I also had quit a few big pike in the boat with tails still sticking out of there mouths. Ferocious eaters them fish are.
  8. I use a set of North Face Insulated polyester gloves. They are not real bulky and fit tight on the hand which makes grabing things like line easier. I find they are good enough for me for most days other then the real cold ones. I usually wear them ice fishing as well. They are even still really warm once they get wet. I know Outdoor Research makes a simliar model as well. Anyway here is the link for them. http://www.thenorthface.com/catalog/sc-gea...etch-glove.html
  9. Going to the Lodge every year I have one big piece of checked luggage which my tackle bag is in and my second piece is my rod tube, I think I have crammed 6 rods in it. Correct me if I am wrong but I believe with air canada you can have 2 pieces of checked baggage with a rod tube in addition to that. I havent had anyproblems with breakage yet, but I have seen fairly sturndy rod tubes come to the lodge folded in half and every rod inside broken, you would almost think it was done on purpose.
  10. huh... I am just trying to figure out what lake "down south" has 22" rainbows along with Cutties and Brookies in it.
  11. As far as shooting goes, I shoot probably 95% outdoors in all kinds of light. I am not going to say that money is no option becasue it is, but I am not scared to spend it on something good, I am not going low end. But not highest either. I am pretty happy with my 70-300 and the 100mm Macro, so I am not looking to replace either of those with anything else. Its pretty much just the 18-55 kit lesne that i want replacing. Right now I have a hole between 55-70mm. So really my question is what lenses should I be looking at to replace and fill the void. Anyone else? Clive?
  12. Can be awesome this time of year, especially if you hit a BWO I have a couple times in the last few years and it was probably the best fishing I have ever had there.
  13. It served me well, if it was sitting in the boat for a prolonged period of time in the rain though the anti reverse would start to slip on it when I would work the lures. But i just took it to my cabin and took the side plate off and dried it out. I think I may go with a longer and heavier rod for next year though.
  14. Of the weird ass mushroom or the summer in general?
  15. Ah, that one.... Dont know Some type of funghi I would assume. I was walkning near on of the sets of falls and saw it sitting on the ground, so i broke out the macro, I have some much more close up pics.
  16. After more research, it is a flower......... http://dawson.nu/indian-pipes.html
  17. Indians Pipe..... not %100 sure but I believe its a mushroom. Looks like this when it first comes up, before it all dries out from no more rain.
  18. Well this is the end.... Of the 700+ pictures that were taken in 3.5 months, all the nice ones are here. I know there not close to home (well maybe for some they are) but I hope you have enjoyed looking at the pics as much as I did living the dream.
  19. Beautiful as always Clive, I would have to say that the Bison shot is one of my fav's as well
  20. I wouldnt dream of such a thing...... I wish I made enough to do that, actually tips were down this year.
  21. pfffff. I wish
  22. So I am going to start to look at a new lense for the camera. Right now I am running a Canon Rebel Xti with just the 18-55 kit lense. I also have the 70-300mm IS and in May I bought a 100mm Macro lense. I think its time to replace the kit lense but am unssre with what. Suggestions? recommendations? Discuss.......
  23. Well here is round 2, A few more fish pictures in this round I recon...... Pink Ladies slipper. One of the many beautiful sunsets. At the beginning of the season there was a grouse sitting on its nest right beside the lodge... this is one of the 8 kids A small mayfly hatch One of my biggest Northern of the summer. Not as long as I had hoped, but definately the fattest My personnal best walleye, and I believe the biggest caught at the lodge all summer Thats it for round 2, round 3 will be up in a few more days.
  24. It's what was left of a big pike that washed up dead near one of the shore lunch sites. After the eagles, seagulls, turkey vultures and crows had there way with it, that and the backbone is all that remained
