  1. This thing has been down in the Castle river for a few seasons now..... 3 since I have noticed. Anyone know what it is? is used for? Its obvisouly been put there on purpose. Looks to be about a 4' long piece of PVC pipe with ends hose clamped onto it, staked into the riverbed with rebar.
  2. Just wanted to say that the lady and I had a great experience getting her outfitted today at Country Pleasures. Mike knows his *hit and was probably one of the single most knowledgable people I have ever met for the stuff he sells. After talking to some of the far less experienced and knowledgable people at some of the other larger stores in Calgary we headed over there as the lady is pretty tiny and hard to find gear thats fits (figured we were going to end up there anyway) Just wanted to spread the word of the great service and and advice and how he turned something that was beginning to get frustrating into a great experience. Looking forward to getting her out on the water really soon.
  3. I had the exact same issue with RBC, and then when they decided to raise my rates for no reason when they should have been coming down, I started to shop around and found insurance for $1800 (yes thats 2 zero's) less then then they were. See ya later RBC
  4. I would definately like to read the response if you get one. Unfotunately its the same old excuse, "there is no money in the budget". You would think with the amount of tickets that could be handed out not only enforcing these issues but also off road vehicle use and fisheries offenses, it could pretty much fund itself.
  5. I agree, you dont clean a net. Thats just like slapping the fish gods in the face.
  6. Nah, I would much rather be able to keep 5 Nice job!!!
  7. Yes.... well...... not in the Charlottes
  8. I do love a good photo thread!! Think I have posted a bunch of these before though.
  9. Ah, November 7th........ how I miss you
  10. Alright this is really quit simple. You can not do a hole repair over top of the seam tape as the seam tape is not designed to keep water out. It only helps to reinforces the seems and give them a cleaner look. You MUST pull the seam tape off before you do your repair otherwise water soaks through the tape and right through the whole that is still unsealed behind it. You can either peel the seam tape back before or after you find the holes. The easiets way I have found is to fill the boot in your wader with water and then grab the boots and squeeze. You will see water start to bead out from where your hole is and yes it will come through the seam tape if you decide to peel the tape off after doing this. Mark where the water came out from. Let your waders dry then give them the aquaseal treatment. You should also patch a small area around the hole for good measure and not just exactly where the hole was. At this point i usualyl use the aquaseal to also glue the seam tape back down, or you can wait and do it after. This is what I did to fix split seams in the heels of my Cloudveils and they havent leaked again yet.
  11. Cant you guys wait for Nakiska to open next weekend!!!!!!

  16. I believe its there number that doesnt work..... I would still try to fix them myself,, it cost me almost $100 and over 8 weeks to get new waders back from them.
  17. I have been trying to contact them as well as my 2nd set of 8x's recently spring a leak right where all the seems meet in the heel of the right foot. After trying a bunch of numbers and no luck I just decided to try to fix them myself. I pulled the outside tape off from around the area and found a hole about the size of a ball point pen right on the seam. Gave it the Aqua Seal treatment, and then glued the seam tape back down again withe Aqua Seal. For 5 minutes of work I now have a set of waders that are as dry as the day I bought them and you cant even tell there was a hole in them. Not to mention saved me the 40 bucks of sending them back and then the additional $40 brokerage fee when they sent me a new pair last time. In short, if its doesnt seem like a major leak, save yourself the hassle and try fix them yourself. Mine seemed major with the amount of water that was in my waders at the end of a day of fishing, but turned out to be quite a simple fix.
  18. I am of a totaly different mindset. if you think you will still wet wade in the summr then just dont wear your waders. Breathables are the way to go, so much more comfortable and you dont have that damp feeling after being in them for hours. I have both and wear the breathable 95% of the time, even in the middle of winter, its all in what you wear underneath them. Fit is key to long term durablility on breathables though. If they are the wrong size and pull in certain spots all the time, thats where the leaks will start first. So make sure you have someone help you that knows how to fit them.
  19. The key to fly selection is observing. When you get there, first of all see if there is anything flying around, if you want to dry fly fish. If nothing flying around then start flipping rocks over. That should give you a pretty good indication of what to tie on. Of course there are certain flies that always work on certain waters, but that comes with experience.
  20. Smallies on the fly are unreal.
  21. with fishing equiptment, so get your heads out of the water logged gutters...... I have taken a lady friend out a few times now and she has just been using my equiptment, rod, reel, waders, etc..... She wants to start getting some of her own stuff now. I already have ideas on brands as far as rods and reels go but any thoughs on rod lengths and weights. Rod will do a bit of everything, lake, river, creek, dry fly, nymphing etc. I was thinking 8'6" 5 wt, or maybe 8'4 wt. What about these rods that seem to be specifically marketed towards females now? Other then a smaller grip and the purple and pink colors I can see and tell no difference. I havent read much along the lines of female specfic waders either. I have seen the Caddis but am leary as they haven't seemed to be making waders till recently. Have also seen the Reddington but have no experience with that brand for waders either. Other then that maybe Orvis? She isn't looking to break the bank but does appreciate quality. Any thoughts/suggestions would be appreciated.
