  1. I have been reading up on different types of spey casts and apparently this "square-cut cast" is really good for when you are tight to the banks with bushes behind you. I can't seem to find any good description or video of this cast. It is in the Spey Masterclass video by Derek Brown, does anyone have this video?? Does anyone here do this cast or give a description of this cast at all? Thanks guys!
  2. Whistler shop has that deal goin with the AEG rods and evotec reels as well. I wish they had an excess of the 9'6 6wt's though, I would be all over that!
  3. Heres my frankentruder lol I will definitely fish this guy
  4. Marbou something or other on a cue tip tube! whoop whoop
  5. Awesome! Thanks for all the tips, I have some Q-tips already so I am good to go! Do you guys put a hook keeper tube on the end of q-tips as well? Are those necessary for the fly to function properly?
  6. Anyone know where you can get plastic tubing for tube flies? Seems a bit steep at a fly shop for a bit of tube. Tubes are usually around 1/16" inner diam and 1/8" outer diam...
  7. smokin deal for NJ... What was it that Kovalchuck turned down at Atlanta like $101 Million lol he musta wanted outa there for sure From TSN site "Now the big question is… will the Devils be able to re-sign Kovalchuk, or is the 12-year, $101 million dollar deal Waddell says Kovalchuk turned down to stay in Atlanta too rich for the usually conservative devils?"
  8. Is the ticket for friday still available? I'll take it if it is
  9. I can't start until the 1st week of May, final exams until the end of April!
  10. lol why do I get a question mark by my name? I'm in and if there is a rod length limit then that is okay with me.
  11. I think it could be fun but I would want to rock out my 11'2 switch rod, 10' limit is for wussies haha I kid I kid! mmmm beans
  12. I had a great time and got lots of fishing/casting/tying tips from various people in the show. Picked up a tube fly adapter for my vice and tied up a couple of Popsicles on the tubes last night Pretty stoked to get out and fish em!
  13. Sweet show this year except now I want an Opti Switch but can't afford the $750 price tag lol Oh well a Whistler hat will have to do instead
  14. According to this website, Metalhead is being released on Feb 1 whoop whoop. Pretty stoked on it! Was talking to the guys in Troutfitters and they were saying it should be in their shop soon to http://www.flyfishingmedia.com/metalhead.aspx
  15. I'll be there on Saturday for most of the day. I'll definitely stop in and say hi
  16. Is that with line out through the guides or all the line on the reel? I lined up the reel and it balances about an inch from the top of the cork so I think it should be good to go. thanks for the advice. Can't wait to get out with the new reel.
  17. I got a Lamson Velocity 3 for Xmas this year and am going to be putting it on my 7wt switch rod. I put the reel on the rod yesterday without line and I am worried about the weight of the reel. the Velocity 3 is rated for 7/8 wt but is a super light reel... I think the Velocity 4 would be to big, has anyone used the Velocity 3.5 at all? I think I am going to call a local shop and see if they have the 3.5 to just look at and compare it. My Dad got me the reel from a fly shop in BC called Pacific Anglers so i guess i'll have to ship it back to them and trade it in if need be.
  18. Saw it in Imax 3D at Chinook Mall and holy crap amazing movie!! Go watch it and spend the extra couple bucks on the 3D it is definitely worth it!!
  19. There is a fly fishing mystery series called the "Yellowstone Fly-Fishing Mystery Series" by John Galligan that aren't to bad. Here is a link to I think the first in the series if you want to get a taste for it. The Blood Knot

  22. holy crap those bullies are huuuuge, awesome pics!
  23. I think a Spey gathering is needed!!! Max bring your opti switch I want to try it lol Jk I agree with the other guys about testing out a bunch of options before settling
  24. i have an 11'2 7wt switch and it might be a tad large, i like flyon's 6 wt suggestions around 10'6" or 11' i think a 5/6 switch will be my next rod.
  25. the best one is Spey to Z where he compares skagit casting to a beer truck lol makes you remember it and think about it while on the river though. Wouldn't mind watching this skagit master one though... kinda off topic but has anyone seen "The Perfect Cast" the first from the Henrik Mortensen series? The trailer on his website looks pretty sweet. heres a link to it if your interested Perfect Cast Teaser
