Pie Is Scientifically Proven Better Than Cake
lethfisher replied to Harps's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I hope at least one of you guys had pie on Pi Day on Sunday!!! -
I am 99% sure I am off to Germany for a few months so you can take me off the list. I was pretty excited about this league lol oh well always next year!
-
I might be going to Germany for a month for school from the beginning of may till the end of June... Will know probably within a week or so... So not sure I can do the fishing league stuff! Keep me in for now though and i'll let you guys know if i have to withdraw.

I am looking for a buddy now who has never spey cast before and is looking to get into it. I saw Pieroway has a spring deal on right now for a 12'6" 6wt plus reel line and backing for $425. Seems like a pretty sweet deal. Has anyone cast these Pieroway Rods at all? I talked to the guys at the expo but didn't cast any of the rods. Any opinions?

that sucks so bad!! Sorry to hear about that, crime like this seems to be getting worse in Calgary... I had my car stolen last year and they took my new oakley polarized sunglasses, I was more choked about the sunglasses than the car! I'm sure it is a long shot but hopefully they catch the guy!

Fishing The Bow For The First Time.
lethfisher replied to snoop101's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Welcome to the forum!!! Calgary is never limited to fishing opportunities, there is always open water somewhere. Are you talking HWY 24 bridge by Carseland? Some goods runs there and in town start at Fish Creek and fish your way up or down from any of the parking lots in the park. -
40+!!! does yours go all coily in the cold temps? Forecast looks good though for the weekend. Anyone know how much it is to borrow the scandi kit for a day?
-
I messaged the guy about it, he posted in CAD so hopefully he is shipping form Canada. We'll see how the rod is after I play with it though...
-
Uh oh there is a 4119 on speypages for sale! 126Barnes can I borrow your 4119 to try out this weekend? :) Sat or Sunday would be cool
-
I got a copy of the Loop Magazine from the expo and there is a write-up in there on this river. It sounds pretty sweet

My entry, I had been looking for a reel for my switch rod for awhile and Christmas was around the corner. I must have mentioned something in passing while talking with my Dad about fishing. Christmas came and I got down to my last present, a small box, but felt way to light to be a reel. Sure enough I opened it and this beauty of a reel was in there!! Best Christmas present ever!

Congratulations to her, awesome skate under extremely difficult circumstances. Proud to be a Canadian!!
-
:) You guys rock! I have midterms the next couple weeks but I'll send you guys a PM when I have some free time. 126Barnes, that is fine by me if it is a whitefish magnet, as long as it swims I am stoked to catch it!!

Probably can't get out again until the end of March but does anyone have a 3, 4 or 5wt spey I could try out? Anyone have an Echo Switch? I know Headscan had the 4119 spey but sold it...
-
On that note I have a 7wt 11'2 Loop Blueline Switch that someone can take out to try if they want. Wouldn't recommend on a cold day as the airflo line head on it coils up like a slinky lol
-
so make lots of spey casting friends so you can take their rods lol
-
How much is it?
-
Sounds like a pretty fun rod and good price to Thanks for all the info on the rod guys! Now what if you built a 10' 6wt wind warrior with a lower end grip... probably would make more sense to just get the 1106 then, a foot isn't going to make a whole lot of difference on the Bow...

Hey Guys, has anyone cast the new Amundson Trout Spey 11' 3-4wt yet? I cast the 10' 6wt still water and was pretty pumped on it at the expo this year. Pretty sweet rod, it was lined funny at the time but once you could feel the rod loading properly woweee. If the 3/4 is like that rod then I think it would be pretty sweet for nymphing and streamers on the Bow. Anyone know if the rod is spey rated? I'm pretty sure the spey 1106 is rated like a single handed 6wt right? I know there is at least one Amundson Pro Staff on here, they should know! Also in the 2010 catalog online there are waders in there but can't find them on the website with a price, anyone know? Does Fish Tales carry Amundson blanks? Am thinking of building either a 10' 6wt or maybe the 1134 if its good. One more thing, maybe the Amundson Pro Staff can send the message, but on the website under the Wind-Warrior Spey section the new trout spey is listed in that table near the bottom as a WWS4-1106F while it should be WWS4-1134M. It is listed correctly below so I think it is a spelling error... link Thanks!!

If you are really stuck then make a new folder on your desktop and drag the photos you want into that folder from iPhoto. Then once in photobucket you can just go to that folder on the desktop and upload from there. Kind of a run around way to do it but it should work

Hiller is playing ridiculous! 45 shots and only 2 goals yeesh. Canada is playing to cutesy like it is an all-star game trying to setup beautiful plays when a solid shot would be just as good. Maybe not so much in the 3rd period but definitely before that.
-
All of you fishing Opti Switches suck lol I cast one at the FFexpo and holy crap! GLshooter how is that 4/5 beulah? Is it similar to the opti 6wt? Can you chuck big streamers with that or is it mostly used for nymphing?
-
For streamers I use a 11'2" 7wt switch and I find it a tiny bit to heavy... Am looking at building a 6wt 10'8" switch that should work better I think. Maybe though a 9'6" 6wt would be better for nymphing and whatnot but that's not a spey
-
yeah i read the speypages stuff on it. I was hoping you guys had a better description. The speypages makes it sound kinda like a snap T that you "snap" out into the current above you then your loop is formed kinda off to your side. Maybe this is what it is but who knows lol Also how would a perry poke work any better than a single spey? Won't your loop still form behind you? I guess if your talking casting out maybe 45 deg into the run then ya... I like the guys post below on speypages saying "I feel that the mark of a great caster is the ability to present the fly to the fish - no matter what the conditions" I know there are lots of air mends you can do in single handed casting to work different currents and situations, I wonder if you can do all these air mends with spey casts? Spey Pile Cast? Spey Reach Cast? Spey Hook Cast?! Oh the possibilities haha Here is an excellent link on single handed casting games if you are interested http://www.sexyloops.com/carlos/index.shtml
