  1. I checked with a few sources who advised that Whiting has increased their prices recently by anywhere from 25 % to 35 % . Basically supply and demand from what I was told ........Frank
  2. Have you tried the extended reach whip finisher by Matarelli ? ......Frank
  3. A Liberal MP ,Gerry Byrne,is trying to portray this act and PETA as terrorism . While that may seem farfetched to some it would mean,if proven lin court, that PETA would be an illegal organization in Canada and would not be allowed to fund raise in this country . I say bring it on if this is where we end up with this bunch of nutcases .........Frank
  4. Headscan : I want a larger reel so it is not filled as much as the one I have now . The option to add more backing if wanted is also attractive . I will probably visit our local flyshop and wind the flyline and backing onto a Lamson Konic 4 and others to see which I prefer .............Frank
  5. I am using a 7-8-9 Windcutter with 12 feet cut off the running line end along with 150 yards of 20 pound test Dacron ( Walmart brand ) . I don't know if Micron would be any thinner than the one I have on the reel .............Frank
  6. I have used both black and bronze hooks for Atlantic salmon fishing for a number of years now . I don't feel there is any difference in my hooking success using one or the other hook types . And the rivers I fish range from the dark peat stained ones to those that are very clear .........Frank
  7. Just wondering if anyone has anything to report on the Lamson Konic 4 as a Spey reel . I just got my first Spey outfit and find the Okuma Integrity 10/11 too small with only a RIO Windcutter Spey line and 150 yards of backing . Thanks for any advice ..........Frank
  8. Great pics especially the mayfly shots.......Frank
  9. I have a pair of Uni-scissors and find them the best cutting scissor I have used . I have only one complaint that is that the finger holes are way too small to let me wear the scissors while tying . Just wondering if anyone has had the finger holes opened up and enlarged so thay can be held easier while tying . Thanks............Frank

    Lime Trude

You could also try White calf body hair as it usually stacks easier than calf tail.........Frank
  11. I tie just a few Classics a year usually as presents for birthdays or Christmas . Just recently statred in Spey tying and am still trying to use Bronze Mallard properly for winging . I find almost all my time at the vise is hairwing salmon and bugs along with trout flies of course . One of these days I have to try tube flies ; more things to spend even more $ on .....Frank
  12. I recommend Aberlour , a very nice single malt from Speyside.........Frank
  13. CapeB : I'm new to this site too . I see no reason at all why you should not be able to enter your flies . I think your work should inspire others to improve their own flies as much as they can and isn't this one of the reasons we started fly tying in the first place.........Frank
