Didnt on another post, someone say you came down a back channel on them? The 'old school etiquette' would dictate that you never float back channels, and to work them from the bottom (or park on the outside and walk back in), such that you never come down a channel into someone. As many guys there are on the oars, there is an equivalent amount of etiquette rules. Not everyone is going to follow your version of it, so why get bothered? Though, stronger education would be nice. Maybe signs at a boat launch or something

Wow, a post with fish pictures, yet no mentioning of where you were... thanks for the good post

Why do people feel like they have to say where they were fishing? Say you fished the Bow, what do you get out of telling the forum you fished the Bow, or Oldman? Why not just say "got out for a little fishing, heres some photos". Mentioning any rivers is not required, and if people were interested they could private message you and get a response. Why does it matter at all where you were fishing that day, the only one it should concern is yourself!
-
I agree with Grinr. Show pictures, or whatever. But indicating where, what and anything else is not required, and not doing any benefit for yourself or the fishery. If someone recognizes the spots, its because they've already been there before. Want to know the conditions of a river of interest? Post but ask for replies in PMs. Need help with bugs? Buy a BOOK...Theres 3500 members on this forum, plus guests. That's a lot of hotspotting that can occur. Spend a minute on the 'fishing report' area, and you'll likely feel depressed. The handholding is insane. I'm sure that there has been at least 1 moment for every member on this forum that they thought 'oh no, don't mention that spot'. So why not eliminate it entirely? time to kill the 'fishing report' area.

Full disclosure, tightline is the guy that made the map. If you couldn't tell

Or just wander to the river like the ol' days and figure it out yourself, there is endless water and endless fish. Fish below 17th ave and above carseland, and you'll find fish.

You were on the Cowichan during steelhead season, hardly a quiet river. You are expected to (and you should) move downstream after every cast if you're fishing a fly rod. I would expect they were getting a lot more frustrated about the dude from AB not taking steps as they waited to get in. "There was three of us fishing one 50 ft run for maybe 30 min". A 50 ft run should not take nearly that long, no wonder they were annoyed.
-
So they upgraded you to a new rod years after your rod was discontinued, yet you're annoyed with them? Holy ****. What is this world coming to

Sounds a lot like the guys that say that the fish don't want to eat dries, when they're nymphing all day. Hard to say that fish aren't into something unless your doing it every day. Indicators and eggs will always outfish a swung fly if everything else was equal. Fish are designed to kill eggs that they see. Fishing an indi would never give the best part of steel fishing, the fish that hits the fly at Mach 10 and just keeps going, and is gone before you've figured out what happened
-
If you're worried about dropping one on the rocks, you're not handling steelhead correctly..leave them in the water, hold them over the water if you need a photo..
-
My thoughts are you aren't all that worried for this fishery, by telling 'Peter Powerbait', or "Joe FFC" that it's close to opening

Srd To Close Stauffer Creek

So you want to kill all the otters that are killing the brown trout, yet you don't want to protect their spawning gravel from being stepped on by the ever increasing number of anglers? Who would not want to protect the future of the rivers? Close the Bow from 22x or Burnsmead Bridge upstream in the winter...let the fish have a break! Open it back up in April -
What, it killed the mid July and Early August major BWO hatch....oh wait

Then take a photo with the bear while trying to hold back your smirks? Sorry, but that doesn't add up. They got their photo for the mantle, a story in the paper. sounds like motive There is no way to tell which story is truth, but I find it hard to believe they have a very close brush with death and they get a picture with it like proud hunters with their great kill. It's more pathetic that this is news

Poachers At Policemans Flats
jayjjones11 replied to eagleflyfisher's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
You can't go upstream of the bridge. Take down the registration number off the bow of the boat, take a photo if possible with background in view, and call the city police (not RAPP). The guy in the jet will have a nice visit from the cops. Be good to keep them on their toes. Lots of water for jets below carseland with virtually no one, not sure why they need to be on police to Mac every day, with the drifters and Pontoons. -
Floating The Bow--best Time Of Season To Go.
jayjjones11 replied to ruffsranger's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Better option than the forum is to call who you're looking to go with (or check with a multitude) and see what they would suggest.A good Guide will cater to your wants, and an honest one will go out of their way to tell you what to look for. Also, don't worry about the floats, and let your guide decide on that day. Having a preconceived notion could put you on a stretch that isnt fishing well. Certain guides and shops do cater more to the nymphing or dry fly or streamer crowd. Do your homework. I'd also say don't book well ahead for spring trips (late April/May, especially for dry fly fishing) due to inconsistent weather and fishing. Can be sweet or can be shot. -
Going to take that rod for fish that will make it bend? Sounds like a good first day

How'd you tie the extended body? Looks great

Advice Needed For Gear Buying

On the topic of Pontoons, Please do not setup your boat IN the launch. Every day on the river there is nothing more annoying then a pontooner taking up the launch as they are blowing up and strapping everything in. Really bad at city launches. Almost as annoying is thr guys unpacking their vehicle into their driftboat when at the launch vs the parking lot. Just a simple tip to keep the river a lot friendlier -
Bait for wild steel, Yet not the same outcry for the precious Thompson? It is neat, but you could catch steel on Roe with an ice fishing rod.

Did you actually watch the video? They're fishing bait. See 9:20 in the video. Simplicity indeed
