  1. Just when you think people can't drop to a new low, brutal! Just as bad as when people drop off old junk, like TV's that don't work because they are too lazy to take to the dump. The charity then has to spend their cash to have the garbage removed. I was dropping off my recycling the other day and some goof ball had left 5 cans of old paint right their in front of the mixed paper bin...stupid..I do think that depots for disposal of items like paint and oil should be more readily available, as good to keep that crap out of the river and land fills, but the guy obviosly realized it was not the place for it but left it their anyway! The good old somebody else will take care of it routine!! Ignorant!
  2. Just like hotdogs, great covered in mustard! Worst ever...Big extra combo, but I got it in the UK, beef was grey man. I got to give them two thumbs up on the breaky though, they have good coffee these days and nothing beats a sausage and egger mmmmm..... That gives you the calories for a long day on the river.
  3. Great for comfort when fight larger fish
  4. Simpson

    Goodbye

My condolences and all the best to you and your family. Thank you for the post....I think it is high time I took my Dad fishin'
  5. I use an MSR 4 shot espresso unit I picked up at MEC. Nice and simple, good for home and the bush. It gets you going in the morning! Not sure about cappuccino, that is just an espresso with warm milk on the top, isn't it?
  6. I agree, great show! Good timing too as my most productive fly tying is on Sat, Sun mornings. I gotta drag my ass out of bed though, no PVR for me just yet.....whats a VCR??
  7. WICKED PICS!!
  8. Unfortunately I have not toured enough of this great country of ours to make a fully informed decision, but at this point it would be Fernie. Ride all winter and fish all summer!!!
  9. Don't forget about tying material! Seems I can't walk out of a fly shop with less than a $20 in material min..and I seem to make my way there at least once a week!
  10. I agree, the Pflueger Trion is a great reel, just started running two of them this season. From what I have experienced great bang for your buck! Welcome to the addiction!
  11. not sure what you are refering to "Anybody use forward-propulsion fins" but I have force Fins and recommend them. They bend upwards and snap back quicker than standard fins. Expensive however...$150 ish if my memory server me correctly. For me a must in a float tube as the fins are your only movement option, unlike a pontoon with oars. Just make sure you use the catch strap as losing one of those in the lake or river would be unpleasent!!
  12. Great time of year for thoughts and planning like this.. Continue to ease the winter blues with trips down to the bow till spring run off. Chronomid lake fishing in the spring Alberta and the Kootenays. Many, Many floats on the Bow Bulls on the Wig Spend some great dry fly days on the Crow, Livingston, Oldman, Highwood....some other small creeks to investigate. Getting into August I have a few Alpine lakes I have not visited for some time. Heading to Van Island in mid August via Seattle. 2 weeks of fishing and exploration, still have to plan that one, another thread to follow. Then there is fall which this year had me fishing the Bow almost solid till Dec 15, awesome..what a river... Huge just thinking about the season to come!!
  13. I would be in the doz zone as well. Regarding the tippet....I learned the hard way to always have an extra spool of the stuff you use the most. Nothing like just starting the day to pull off the last 12"! Those dispensers keep it on the spool, but also hide the amount remaining!
  14. I agree Terry, battle scar's!! Something about weathered gear, it works better...as long as you were the one who weathered it!
  15. Just received my renewal...they did not mention an increase in the letter, I am sure they would need to, will have a closer look when I go home. I would check out Royal Bank Ins if I was you...I switched last year and saved a pile of cash on auto and home!
  16. I agree, it will be very helpful to have someone like Mike on the staff. Always enjoyed the info I received from him at Wholesale. For me I am in the Bermuda triangle of fly shops..Heritage and Macleaod. West Winds, Russells, Country pleasures, wholesale and even fish tales. Can't see myself visting too often, but that end of the city is sure growing!
  17. I use an old desk at home, and when a picknick table is unavailable a tv tray works for me when you are in the bush. I think more importantly is what you use to carry all your material and tools around in. A buddy of mine turned me on to one of those big tackle boxes the gear chuckers use. Lots of compartments and durable.
  18. I bet that was deadly!
  19. Man you had the right idea, what was I thinking..... sitting here at work just hanging out..... you can only browse ebay for gear so much!
  20. My main fly fishiing goals are.... Get goining on tying dry flys, I have been focusing on Sub-surface flys up until now. Target bull trout Improve entomology knowledge Happy New year to all!
  21. Lots of large Chronomids....preping for the BC lakes this spring. Also tones of tiny midges for those chinook winds this winter on the bow
  22. This was an amazing season for me...I landed more fish this year than ever. I finally got that Bow River figured out and left the skunk in the bush were he belongs! Just in time with the price of fuel, better to stay close to home. I am 100% addicted to the rush of those Bow R trout.....sunshine, snow or rain...nothing is going to keep me off that river I now understand more than ever how my fishing balances my life... Best wishes to all my fellow anglers. James
  23. Well done...deadly browns!!
