  1. I really like Daiichi but the price sometimes bothers me. I have bent several mustad hooks right straight. never had any bad experiences with tiemco but they are only a small portion of my hook inventory. I got all excited on ebay and bought some (100) togen size 16 scud hooks I haven't fished them much. any one have any opinions of the togen hooks?
  2. Bump could we sticky this maybe. I am going to be there this year.
  3. I have been playing with it for a bit tonight some plug-ins don't work yet probably take a while for that. Oddly the adds on this page came up with the plug-in crashed unhappy puzzle piece. looks very pretty the search while typing in the address bar is very cool and it seems way faster than IE7. Using it right now.
  4. 3 would be my first choice followed by 1
  5. Googled Didymo found this site from NZ Didymo Cleaning Methods
  6. Exactly Hot water bath when moving between place to place. the manufacturer of your boots probably has a website which will give you more details. So what do we use instead? Aqua stealth? rubber and cleats?
  7. When we were test driving cars a couple years back civic and corolla were definetly number 2 and 3. My preference would have been for the Civic. But we ended up with an impreza for roughly the same money. Slight hit on the gas mileage but all wheel drive is nice in the winter.
  8. It is not a good feeling is it. i swaded the Menomenee (sp?) in Miliwaukee during runoff during my visit to Wisconsin. Got only a very small amount of water over my waders. cell phone died during the event for some reason.
  9. Google found these for me: False Cast Double Haul
  10. Have you tried it out recently? looks like it would do well.
  11. Cool idea i will have to give that a try as well
  12. I have tried not tying the hackle so far forward and it helps a little but it seems to change the proportions of the fly ie bigger head smaller abdomen. I will try the locking turns that you mentioned as well.
  13. Ok so I don't tie alot of dry flies mostly because they aren't typically my first choice to fish with. Recently I have been having a hard time with catching the hackle in the head of the fly. Some flies have antennae but not that many. Any pointers or video clips you guys could point out would be greatly appreciated.
  14. Colored yarn at the end of a leader
  15. Cdock 1 Lundvike 1 in the speed typing competition.
  16. My vote be for dry fly. Also practice casting while not fishing ie at a local park allows you to focus on casting. I am really bad for not doing this but it really helps. The number of knots you get casting nymphs goes down with time at least it did for me. Don't false cast your nymph rigs. 2 nymphs way easier to cast than 3. Change your strike indicator possibly.
  17. Use the search function. Caddis Emerger I got a 16" brown in bowness park on a variation of the following: Din's Caddis Emerger
  18. It sounds like a good idea however I would probably only participate in the ones that I had the materials for. I would think people would be less likely to participate if the materials were "exotic".
  19. Yes this will certainly make the book eventually.
  20. Or maybe we should all buy lots of carbonnated beverages and not use them, and that would be like carbon sequestering right?
  21. I sepnd most of fly fishing budget at Troutfitters due to its proximity. They have always been very helpful to me and tolerant of my stupidity when I was just learning. Fish tales has been good to me as well but its along way from home. Wholesale is good cause I can leave the wife and kid at Ikea or Micheals etc and actually browse and the guys behind the counter have been very helpful as well.
  22. I think that stating C02 is not a posionous gas is a little misleading if not flat out incorrect. Not to step on any toes but in high enough concentrations CO2 is toxic or fatal. It doesn't however exist in our atmosphere at anywhere near toxic levels and even the increases you mentioned wouldn't even come close, however before anyone goes out and starts inhaling concentrated CO2 and dies this needs to be said. Government spending large amounts of money on anything should be heavily scrutinized and I agree there are better ways of spending this money.
  23. Edmonton Journal Very sad for the family and I can't imagine how the daughter must be feeling. Here is a little more detail. Wear your lifejackets people.
  24. That is a very true statement honestly taking up crack smoking might have been a cheaper hobby. I am going to recommend that you take a basic course in flyfishing. All of the shops in town offer some form of introductory course. It might be getting a little late in the year for one of the classes as they tend to be in the spring. If you can't find a course you might be able to get one of the pros on the site to help you out for a few hours. I checked fishtales website and it indicates that they have one more intro session advertised this year Fish Tales Level 1 Fly Fishing Troutfitters seem to be done for the year. Hansons boot camp has also been highly recommended. Also check out the fly fishing get togethers section a lot of people post where and when they are going and most wouldn't mind a companion.
