  1. Thats true about the DJs, I like Fuel cause they don't give the DJs much time to talk. Sublime, Tool, RATM on the way if alone and whatevers still in the player on the way back.
  2. Ok so I am getting a little tired of the seemingly inevitable fly-fishers tan (or burn in my case) after each outing. You know the one where wrists and the tops of your for arms are nice and pink and the rest of you is white, ok so that might be just be me. Anyways I was wondering who uses what to protect them selves while fly fishing? I am considering getting some of those sun gloves and those long sleeve shirts that seem to be popular when fishing in the tropics. I can't seem to find sun screen that is waterproof enough to stand up to dunking ones hands in the water occasionally and even the small amount of water that you get when stripping line.
  3. That is good news. lets hope it stays there
  4. Well I met my one goal for the year so I can put away my gear for the year. This was my second of the day, my second pike ever on the fly, and it wasn't from the bow.
  5. Cement Mixer 1 oz irish cream (or any cream based alcohol) 1 oz lime juice in seperate shot glasses, one after another into your mouth without swallowing swish for 10 seconds and then swallow if you can. Also there was some alcohol that I had christmas eve on a small island in indonesia that has homemade and came out of a jerry can (some kind of rice vodka, arak??). I vaguely recall not being close enough to a bathroom so I waded past me knees into the ocean and got rid of that nasty alcohol and several things I didn't remember eating.
  6. I will happily do it again depending on the date. Whats wrong with doing it in the fall again? Or even twice if there is enough interest?
  7. I got Blue Ribbon Bow and Western trout streams at the local used book store. I also got Barry Mitchells book on the same trip I was very excited.
  8. Whatever puts a bend in my rod is alright by me. I catch more rainbows then browns, I find the nid teens rainbows are the most fun as they are typically the scrappiest.
  9. I am not a guide or have ever been involved in anything similar but if you think you want to do it try it. especially if you are waiting until retirement or semi-retirement and won't be dependent on it as a source of income. You only get one go around if you think your gonna enjoy it do it. And if you need practice i am happy to go out with you and I won't even charge for the privilege of guiding me.
  10. Haven't made it to BPS yet, I do plan on it sometime. I am considering driving to canmore as an attractive alternative from the long drive through the city to any of the "local" fly shops from my house in Tuscany. Come on Troutfitters come back to the NW we need some altrenative to the long drive. Was so nice having a shop on my way home from work, wifes opinion was a little different on that subject.
  11. It was the 2007 issue of Hatches page 78 (I think) has aphoto aboout selecting hair for spinning.
  12. There is also a good article on spinning deer hair in the Hatches Magazine, sorry I can't remember which one. Or you just make sure to take a seminar with Leroy that helped me a lot.
  13. Happy Birthday man, hope you got into some fish today.
  14. Dave April 16 Girl Darren May 3 Boy Go pack your bag now! Ask Birchy why.
  15. My own take on the Olive Circus Peanut Saw something similar to this when I was looking at Kelly Galloup's site. Fly of the Month - The Slide Inn So which hook do I cut the point off? Just wondering what peoples opinions of this are. I noticed there is no point on the trailer in the picture on the link above.
  16. This is a pattern that I haven't fished but tied afew of not so long ago any comments would be welcome. Essentially the same pattern but different dubbing and bead colours.
  17. I reread my original post and I would like to apologize I think I was still a little annoyed about having to shovel snow again. Anything that we can do to protect native species is always a good thing.
  18. My feelings that personally two tiered would never be an issue for me. If there were no limits other than having to have the upper tier to keep fish, why would I bother. I fish catch and release. I can't remember the last time I bonked a fresh water fish, never in Alberta. Although I do support the concept for anyone who wished to keep fish, I fear however that anyone who didn't care isn't going to bother either they are gonna just take their chances. If there was a signifcant increase in cost I think I would vote for increased enforcement rather than two tiered licensing. It is an interesting concept.
  19. The Easter weekend is what I have heard for the grand opening.
