  1. Best place for 5mm neoprenes is Cabelas ($69 US) plus shipping. Their wading boots are pretty good as well. I like neoprene for April/May and October lake fishing. Never tried float tube fishing for 12 hours in breathables, but neoprenes work.
  2. No eggs, just meat
  3. Squawfish.........northern pikeminnow
  4. Thanks for sharing Frank. It is like a different river down there. The scenery is great and a lot of the fish are colored a little different. Looks like it was a fine day for a float.
  5. I've had similar "tests" with giant lake fish eating emerging chironomids on the bottom of the surface film. It is so satisfying to finally present a fly that fools your quarry. These hunts are way more fun than blindly hucking worms in good looking water.
  6. Great blue spotted trout Brian. No bobbers certainly is more fun
  7. Probably secondary infection from a wound caused by an osprey or eagle (or large treble hook)
  8. That fish is from Lake Sundance. I caught her 3 weeks later. The one in the Bow is a different fish
  9. Great fun to go back and revisit the old spots. Looks like the Waterton. Cool to find a toad.
  10. Interesting, fly line is supposed to be 30lb test. For years I used 14lb mono for nymphing. I don't lose many flies and fish get landed very quickly.
  11. There can be times when a fish streaks away that the hook is not actually in the mouth. Once the right angle is achieved the hook pulls out. Perhaps such a situation could have occurred. We just use a piece of 12lb maxima for streamer fishing
  12. Great adventure. Thanks for sharing your pics of those crimson jewels.
  13. Nice healthy fish, good job
  14. Steve, I've never had one attack a Cutt. I guess I don't troll them long enough
  15. This funny looking thing interrupted my dry fly fishing. Man he has a big head! Nice day for a walk along the creek today
  16. Awesome fish! Very cool to get rewarded for years of fishing. However, since this was an accidental by-catch when fishing for pike....you cannot brag or show it off to anyone. After it is finished getting stuffed it must be hidden away and never spoken of again. I'm curious what kind of fight this tank put up?
  17. Do you really need an 8wt for 20" fish?
  18. A geezer gets even more wiser. Have a great day
  19. I hear the feet out of an old pair of waders may work
  20. Jigs and 20 ft leaders....break out the gear rods....your way more than half way there
  21. Check out the U of C greenhouse
  22. The University got pounded. Trees got blasted, greenhouses destroyed, cars and glass hammered. The insurance companies will be busy today.
  23. Looks like a fun day Steve. Too bad those elk are eating all the big gold fish. I will be out in December to do some non-C&R elk fishin'.
  24. I believe if it is under 24-30" you can go right up to the property line
  25. Pretty sure the Bull trout and Cutts were there before the rainbows were delivered in a truck. The interlake dam isolated the fish from spawning habitat in the upper lake so the populations died off. Subsequently the native fish were replaced with stocked rainbows. Recently there was a decision to replace native fish to the Upper lake. Is there not lots of Cutts around in the upper lake that replaced the rainbows? The Bull population seems like it has plateaued in the lower lake. If you opened the season on the Bulls they would quickly be reduced to very low numbers. They are just too easy to target. In addition, the Bulls don't mature very fast and many would be removed before they had a chance to spawn. I was part of a team that sampled the lakes in the mid-80's. There were VERY few Bull trout around at that time. The major fish population was suckers. Changing the regs to C&R allowed the population in the lower lake to rebound dramatically. It is a unique area with great chances to catch a rare trophy sized Bull trout. There are few places left in southern Alberta that offer such good odds on catching big fish. I hope they never remove Bulls from catch and release regs. Folks who want some meat should be able to eat some Cutts now instead of rainbows in the Upper lake.
