  1. Nice shots Clive. We see this action quite often when we go out collecting fly tying materials around sloughs in the fall. The birds do it to lose altitude quickly as they are coming to the water. Yesterday we were collecting feathers for making hopper wings
  2. I think you might have more luck keeping fish on if you buy hooks with a barb and then pinching the barb down leaving a bump. Barbless hooks can fall out pretty easy. You could use 2488H hooks. I'd like to hear what your landing ratio is like with these new hooks. Post a report after you've tried them.
  3. Your trips are with two of the finest Bow river fishermen. I would suggest you do a lot of listening and asking questions when you are out with these two gentlemen. Their skill level is high and experience vast...do your best to be the perfect student on those days. They have a lot to offer.
  4. The "rooster" comment was referring to pheasant not fish Female fish with rounded nose Male with longer, pointed nose
  5. I'm pretty sure he uses PURPLE bobbers for indicator fishing so I'm leaning toward B. Someone already noticed his outlandish net. Things are starting to add up.
  6. That was "fishpro" Jeff
  7. Good show. I grew up fishing the south bank for the first 4 miles of that drift...brings back lots of memories. The racoons have been there since the mid-80's. Thanks for sharing.
  8. Thanks for sharing your trip Clive. Looks like a beautiful part of the world.
  9. Good show Max. Looks like Lake whitefish on the streamer while pike fishing....
  10. Excellent fish fellas! The AGFT is going international.
  11. That's just cause you're famous Jeff. People are looking to get their picture taken with the famous Beedhead so they can sell it to the tabloids.
  12. No snow on the ice will help the cause. Thanks for posting
  13. Festus you are IN...anybody with slimy pink jelly always acts as great grizz bait while I'm fishing. We won't tell Chicken legs when we go. By the number of posts it seems this topic has hit a sore spot with all the piscivorously addicted folks around here enjoying the weather.
  14. Minnows: dace, trout perch, suckers and those groovy sculpins
  15. Nice northern Brian. Ho's and steel sounds way better than lazy Cutts.
  16. SJW, spectacular fish Mr. Bobloblaw...sorry I have hurt your feelings. Perhaps you should try some glow in the dark jigs next. My Cutty spot winterkilled this year
  17. Nice fish Terry. I think our fish are related.
  18. The video was made by BC bios watching the Bulls spawn near Fernie. I was invited to a private screening at a Bull trout conference years ago. The video is probably not available for the public anywhere.
  19. Love the second pic JK. Thanks for sharing. That last fish is a mutt, Taco will not approve.
  20. Beauties Taco. They are treasures. Hopefully Boblonymph sees how you caught those gems.
  21. I'm unfamiliar with the type of dry fly you used to fool that stupid Char thing. Us purists don't stoop to dragging the bottom for those leviathons (unless they're over 2ft long ). Great underwater shot... you can really see the shape of their long, sloped head. Nymphing for Cutts is just bad form ...that's for old ladies and beginners...you need to challenge yourself on top of the water. Let the cursing begin...
  22. Welcome here Peter. There is lots of helpful info and folks around here to get you into some more fish.
  23. OK ignore that ugly water and just forget that nothing pretty lives there
  24. Wildlife Identification Number (WIN) Application A Wildlife Identification Number (WIN) is required to purchase hunting and sportfishing licences in Alberta. A WIN number is valid for five years from the date of purchase and costs $8.00. A plastic WIN card with your WIN number on it will be mailed to you in 4 weeks. You may purchase a licence immediately after this purchase.
  25. Cool story. I once saw an underwater video of some bulls that were spawning and a Harlequin duck was diving to get the eggs. Eventually the bull got pissed and grabbed the duck and gave it a good shake. The guys had an underwater movie camera that could be navigated by remote control around the stream bed. Pretty amazing footage.
