  1. My trip is getting closer and I'm wondering if anyone else has any ideas about this area. I'm taking my 4 weight with a small box of dries. If anyone has some go to flies or tips that would be awesome as I don't have tons of time to figure it out. Thanks again
  2. You can pick fish up on the dry every month of the year. It's more common in the warmer months but if a strange weather pattern produces high temps that are right for big hatchs the fish will start to look up. I picked up a number of browns on the dry on Jan 3 this year.
  3. Hey Paul, thanks for the info, I'm planning on going from Aug. 1-10. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. I'm super pumped for this trip and if I can do some fishing it will make it better. Cheers, Kyle
  4. Thanks, We are planning on doing the Donjek hike, 120 km, and I'm leaning towards bringing the gear just in case something seems fishy, we will be stopping at a few high alpine lakes and I can't find any info on them, and I know I'd be pissed if I saw fish without my gear so I'm bringing it along. Hopefully, I'll grab some great pictures of the area and maybe a few fish ones as well. Thanks again, Kyle
  5. Hey, I'm planning on doing the Donjek hike near Burwash Landing in the Yukon this summer. Looking at the maps I see there are many rivers, creeks and small lakes in the alpine and I figure I'd bring my rod with me. Does anyone have any tips, experience in the area that they would like to share? Thanks, Kyle
  6. The nucks always start slow, pick it up and *hit the bed in the playoffs. As a nucks fans, it's way to early for me to freak out, although, this season does rest on Lou's shoulders, we go as he goes. I think the D may be a little suspect and the loss of Mitchell may be huge. I figure they will win the division and finish 2nd in the conference and hopefully have a deep playoff run. In reality, the playoff run may be short!
  7. I'm assuming this post started because of my post about fishing on Saturday. We did end up getting 30, but between three of us, we started fishing at 9 and left the water at 7:30, I figure if you fish that long 30 fish between three guys isn't that many. In our group many of the fish were caught by a buddy of mine and a few by the other two, we were sharing flies, spots etc. Some people got it some don't. I don't often post numbers but we had an awesome day between the three of us and we were pumped to get out. However, if you would like to believe we caught many fewer, by all means giver.
  8. Did you catch the fish in the Annapolis Valley. There are some big brookies in many of the stillwaters on the south mountain. I grew up catching them on a spin rod, wish I had learned to fly fish earlier.
  9. With my good friends we often cast at the same fish like fishfreak. After he has caught significantly more fish than me, a well place rock ususally falls from the sky, it's happened to both of us and neither my buddy or I can explain this strange rocks. I think it all depends on who your fishing with and how serious they are, most of my friends don't give a crap about etiquette amongst ourselves as long as we have a good time, it's all good.
  10. Hey, I'm thinking of buying a sage ZXL from a buddy. Any feedback on this rod would help me make my decision. Should I go with a z-axis or stick with this rod. Cheers, Kyle
  11. Jay, get well soon, hope you have a speedy recover. Alan2 - vigilante justice would be way quicker but people who do this are no different than the thugs how committed the crime in the first place.
  12. I tend to agree with Rick, it should be up to the two people to work out any differences. I also think the two people should decide on the method of fishing they seem to like or see fit. If they want to use an indicator and three flies and the other person agrees than giver. There are many people on this board that would kick my ass even if I used dynamite so to me it's more about learning from other people than the competition, and from the beginning it seems like this idea is about fun instead of real competition (which sometimes brings out the worst in people). Just my thoughts.
  13. I would be interested. Max if you're interested I want a 10 fish head start, this will make it a little more interesting, you will only win by like 10 or 15.
  14. Thanks again for all the help. My students are all well underway and I have printed off more than 10 different studies and most of the students are studying bulls. Monger thanks for the video info, it's being mailed to me next week. This project has been very successful thanks to all your help, I have pushed the kids to study animals close to home, they man not be as flashy as some other exotic animals but I wanted them to know what lived around us; as many of them know more about lions, tigers etc. than caribou, trout, bears etc. Once again, thanks for all the help! Cheers, Kyle
  15. tightline - thanks for that website, I never looked at it before and it is very useful. I'm currrently watching at least half the class study bull trout, and all of them are using the articles you guys provided me. Hopefully, some of the information from these articles will stick with them and they will spread the word. Thanks again for all the help
