  1. Scroll down to Gerrard video http://www.fwcp.ca/version2/forms/videos/index.php
  2. Awesome. There used to be a 27" brown that lived there. Good to see some guys toughing it out in the crappy weather for a fine prize.
  3. You often see some orange under the jaw when rainbows are eating lots of scuds
  4. Good secret spot....hope you don't get in trouble being there
  5. Very complicated fly...silver bead and then six smaller tungsten beads (#12 2457). Perch can be so picky.... The high tech reel seat could be a bit better on this rod model
  6. Jared, first fish hooked was about an 8 lber. During the fight the 4 lb test cut through the rubber supporting the marmish tip, but I did get him up the hole. The tiny reel was singing on some runs. I have now inserted a old rod tip top into the rubber piece so I'm set for next monster fish.
  7. I don't think there is many options for different races of rainbows at the Sam Livingstone hatchery. The rainbows present in Lower Kan are from an old stocking. Alberta fish culture is not as diverse as things are in BC. Recent stockings have been with Cutts. I believe the Cutts usually come with Job Lake genetics. Gaffer, there is also an established Mysis shrimp population in both U and L Kan lakes. This food source is highly desirable for both trout and char.
  8. I've been practicing my perch spey cast all afternoon. I think I'll be ready to land the chironomid in the hole by the weekend.
  9. For those hard to fool Perch. Complete with marmish super slow action tip
  10. Thanks guys. Haven't had the chance to chase chrome yet, but gathering info. I like your modification Riley...sounds the most durable
  11. What line do you use to tie in the stinger hook?
  12. Alberta needs more rainbows over 24"....K -lakes is a place where it can happen. I'm in!
  13. Naw, it's just where Steve usually snags them when bait fishing (then he tries to blame it on some 'natural' event) Thanks for the photos. It's time for the Burb fest soon
  14. Use Photobucket
  15. Congrats on the harvest. Where's the picture?

  18. Great shots Jeff. Nights like that help you clear your head. Mr. Rana p is a fine addition to the frame.

This was taken just before my pointer helped me collect some feathers for making a certain type of nymph.
  20. Sorry for your crappy day. It is amazing what has happened on this river in the last 5 years. After getting nearly run over by boats, guys standing on top of you and general crowding, I gave up and went to the lakes. If you need a rod for a while, I have a 6wt TFO you can use.

  22. Looks like fun. Some Frank guy got 27....was that you?
  23. Hope there is still some left by the end of next summer...they are slowly disappearing. It has definitely been an entertaining year!
  24. Great fish Jared. You look very experienced
  25. I think I'd rather learn from an "experienced" angler who catches good numbers of fish. One that can fish a variety of techniques and water conditions. Catching a variety of species would also be a bonus. Getting outdoors is good, but actually catching fish is what I'm after. Anyone can go for a walk along the river....I go there to catch fish.
