  1. You are right...no money or manpower will probably result in no action from the government. It sounds like the impoundment with a good carp population is on private land. It will be interesting to see if the landowner will let anyone on his land to disturb his unique fishery. I agree with you, fish Bios are in a tough spot in this province.
  2. Perch were introduced to Sundance, they are not a natural population. Therefore, their attempted removal doesn't upset the wild population. Introduced carp might have a major impact on the native species in the Red Deer River. I thought your concern over native stocks might have elicited a different response. Thanks for slinging mud as usual though.
  3. Scud bait
  4. Crucian carp in the irrigation system downstream of Chestermere....leaking to the Red Deer river http://aquality.ca/uploads/news/id102/Aqua...Survey_2009.pdf Apparently Fish and Wildlife isn't too concerned. It's not like carp can reproduce at a good rate or anything...
  5. Good show lads. Great to see some young guys outside playing.
  6. I haven't used hair for years. I'm pretty sure the fish can see/feel your size 2/4 fly moving through the water without it. To me it makes more sense to get the presentation right rather than the having the prettiest fly
  7. Another newb question. Do you guys drag another fly around behind your first streamer? I'm just wondering if it is beneficial or it just causes problems.
  8. Sometimes lining up a super stiff rod will make it cast better. A really soft rod might cast better with a lighter line...experimentation can be a good thing
  9. Sweet...and no nymphing for Cutts
  10. Cool. Thanks for the post. Looks like a wandering garter snake
  11. Avian cholera....happens every year on the Bow
  12. Using photobucket lets you put a good sized picture on the forum
  13. Someone floated down to Police on Saturday
  14. There's a foot of ice on Sundance...it can even support Bobloblaw

    Backing?

Or tie on 2 ft of regular backing to spool. Then attach backing to braid and fill her up
  17. Don't be sad Jared....how can that compare to hucking nymphs into the Poo hole on our famous river. Thanks for visual treat Dave...I have a feeling you will be returning there again
  18. I wanna be like Troutlover....me too!
  19. I only fished Kluane lake and some small lakes on the east side of Kluane while I stayed at a research station years ago. Lots of lake trout, grayling and some pike. I was told there is also Inconnu in the SW corner of Kluane. We hiked up in the mountains west of Destruction Bay/Burwash one weekend near Amphitheater mountain. It was incredible scenery. We got to a high spot where we could look down on the Donjek I believe. The Blue berries were amazing. We got stalked by caribou too. South of there you can find lots of Dall sheep. There is a beautiful picture in every direction. Kathleen lakes a few hours south has rainbows
  20. That's why you never wear waders when Cutt fishing
  21. Great day today collecting for fly tying materials. I'm gonna hate going back to work on Monday
  22. Both my buddies got elk ( 4x5 and 5x5) opening week, and I shared in the meat. Last week I let a 5X5 walk by as I didn't need that much meat. A few hours later I was blessed with the whitetail and a mule doe this week. First load of jerky is done! Sounds like you had a great season with tons of wildlife experiences. I've never bow hunted for moose...maybe next year (Priority 6). I haven't bow hunted for elk for a while. Calling in a mad, screaming bull is such a rush...need to do that again soon. I just picked up a new target this afternoon to shoot pointy sticks into...you've inspired me. Off for one last pheasant hunt with the dog tomorrow. I think she might sabotage my bow before next fall.
  23. So Adam, did you find any of these? I didn't fling any arrows this year, my pointer says we have to hunt birds in the early season. Did manage to collect some fur for caddis flies though
  24. Thanks for the link Adam. Some good thoughts buried in there. I think it really all comes down to defining what personally gives you the greatest satisfaction. With time, many folks feel doing things in a more challenging manner results in more satisfaction. I can definitely see where getting a steelhead to take a dry would be more satisfying for ME rather than watching an indicator sink. I don't feel I need to attack folks for using a legal method other than my choice for the day. A friend went to the Skeena drainage last month and caught lots of fish...but he didn't find one that wanted a fly on the swing. Maybe next year he'll get one. It will be interesting to see if it changes his point of view on what method gives the greatest satisfaction.
  25. Cool, dinosaur fishing! Kind of fitting for an "experienced" fellow like yourself. Always fun to try something new.
