  1. How can anyone get something bigger than a Texan? I think I'll spray paint my new noodle rod yellow to try and increase my chances of catching a real fish. The real goal this year is to catch another Zombie fish so I can out perform your "netboy" with the purrty face
  2. That was an awesome fish Rick. I'm pretty sure the rod don't matter (my spey rod cost $100...real fancy). I'm just getting bored of watching bobbers after 25 years.
  3. I wonder if there has been any inter-breeding between strains in the last 100 years.... "Don't squirt there!!! That's a Scot for goodness sake" Guessing genotype via phenotype can get one in trouble
  4. Confession is a good thing Clive. And your right the Lord is GOOD. I think I still might be able to find a bobber for lake fishing though. All this global warming should have the ice off early this year . Can't wait to get back in the tube to chase some big, fat fish!
  5. Brown was a nice, thick fish who didn't really want to see the shore. I thought the rainbow was unique enough for a picture. I've seen a lot of rainbows that are very colored up in the last month. It looks like they are more than ready to go party early this year. There seems to be a lot of 18-19" rainbows these days (I think the spawners used to be bigger 20-23" in the past). Catching a rainbow over 22" is getting more and more challenging.
  6. First off I need to apologize for all the negative thoughts I used to have about spey rods on the river. I didn't understand why folks were using them here. Well now I see the light and have been having a great time catching quality fish. Though my rod is an 8wt with a 12wt reel, it's still lots of fun to feel the tug. It's been a fine month with no bobbers in sight.
  7. Did you order this weather special for your B-day Lornce? Hope your enjoying the day.
  8. Some folks like to go for walks/floats along/in the river. Some like to cast fly lines. Some like to actually fight some fish (some are glutinous pigs like Rick). Some like to catch certain fish, a certain way. There's lots of space for all these folks. Personally, I love the folks who are out walking and casting acting as fine stewards/conservationists.
  9. OK, I better get to work on some tiny bugs. Thanks for the replies
  10. Are #18 2457s too heavy for a dry fly?
  11. What hook would you recommend snuffy?
  12. Not mine, but a cool fly. Some interesting reading here as well: http://www.tomsutcliffe.co.za/component/k2/itemlist/user/63-tomsutcliffe.html?start=200
  13. I was thinking something like this would work. Maybe an 1130 rather than 1120 would float better. Tiemco 2487 (vs 2457)
  14. What hooks are you using for #18-22 BWO? Has any one ever used little curved hooks like a Daiichi 1120?
  15. Here's hoping these good men don't disappear as our world keeps "evolving"
  16. Wonderful to see this province through your eyes...thanks for sharing your point of view. Love the way you capture the light.
  17. Hope you had a great day Jeff. Just 3 more months till you hit BH. Cheers, Rob
  18. ....a poodle
  19. Great fish. Was he swimming alone?
  20. I would think a grey pattern would work...crawdads are often pale after molting
  21. I used a round tube for years. Switched to a Fish Cat 4 about 4 years ago. I will never go back to a round tube. Fish cat is a way more maneuverable, plus you sit much higher out of the water (warmer). Fish cat is also a lot quicker for long distance travelling. I also store a dry bag in the space behind the seat so I can take more clothes/food/equipment with me than I could with a round tube. I fish with an 8lb anchor....just cause I like to catch lots of fish (rarely troll). My friends with pontoon boats use their Fish cat 4's 10x more than their pontoon boats (way less wind problems and faster setup time).
  22. A big problem outside of habitat issues is that bull trout are the biggest fish in the stream. People like to kill big critters. Humans have a thing for big, rare stuff and are willing to step outside of the rules to get it.
  23. 8lbs !!! Definitely a keeper. What a great Christmas present! Enjoy him
  24. The shaggy Griffon is Paul's. They all find birds eventually...hopefully close enough for a shot. You just need to be a fast runner hunting with Dave's dog. You're right Dutchie, me and the old girl are getting pretty grey around the edges....
