  1. Welcome to Calgary Sean. What part of town do you live in? If you have transportation, there are plenty of great access points all through the city, and even more in the south side of the city. Google Maps using the Satellite imagery is a fantastic resource in scouting areas to go. It had helped me a great deal in the past and I still use it today to scout for new access points. The downside to easy access, is that is where you find the most anglers. Easier to access, the more likely you are to find others. Look for places that are a bit of a hike to get to if you want solitude. There are TONS of places to fish both in and around the city. Places like, South Fish Creek you'll find plenty of areas to park with easy access to the river. Like the boat launch or Bankside are two easy places to get to and find fish. Like echinopora said, look for faster water with riffles, tail outs and deep pockets. There are fish to be had, just be patient. Oh, and if you have the means and the time, a course called Listening to the Bow by Jim McLennan, is a great starter for this river.
  2. Buddy reported that he had a bunch start to pop last night.
  3. Personally, I haven't had much issue with etiquette. Most times I can fish are when others can't, so I rarely run into other people. When I do, they are usually nice. Only twice, in four years, have I had a guy come to the same spot on the river, chat a bit and then ask if he can jump in beside. I always accept and end up fishing with them. As of yet, I haven't had any issues with drift boats either. The guys that I have seen have always seen me from far enough away to make a wide berth. I have even heard the guide (or the guy on the oars anyway) tell the guys fishing to cast out the other side as they drift past. Usually have a friendly chat and let them know what's working, etc. However, with all that's been said here, and in many other threads, that will one day change. I just hope I'm in a forgiving mood when it does. I'm not usually one to conflict with someone though, so I would be an easy target for guys wanting to poach my water.......
  4. Great pics for some great memories. Well done Brian!
  5. I haven't seen it yet, but I believe it was Max who was on the show.
  6. I have caught two or three fish this year with the same things on it. One of them was under the jaw, like yours, but the other had it right on the side of his face. Gross is a gross understatement. Pun intended.
  7. Yup. Broke mine in May. Got it back about a week and a half ago. Fish Tales took great care of me.
  8. And that in itself is worth all the time and effort. Good on ya Peter.
  9. I have actually considered it. I would need a HUGE pack to make sure all my gear fit in it.....lol I love my chest/backpack combo for day trips on the Bow or backcountry, but I am not 100% sure I could fit my waders and boots in there too. Maybe if I got pannier packs......hmmmmm
  10. I will most certainly second this. I have taken two courses with Jim. The introductory course and the Listening to the Bow course. Both were WELL worth the time and the money.
  11. I used to ride all the time. And I mean ALL the time. Work, for play. Everywhere. Then I got married, had kids, and took up this crazy sport called fly fishing. ALL my free time is now spent fishing.
  12. Looked at my bike today. Sure is a pretty bike.
  13. Oh Peter....always looking at the bright side.....
  14. Yeah, great work Birchy! That was you in the red bathing suit, right?
  15. Odd, just saw a Facebook post from Country Pleasures stating that they are both now open for use.......
  16. I'm more curious to see what it looks like and how it's done more than anything.....
  17. Thanks for the reminder Rick. I need to pick up some more flies......
  18. Nice J! Chunky Monkey for sure!

Great fish! Can't wait to head out again. Counting the minutes......
  20. Or, they could stock those lakes every other year and not every year?
  21. Nice day!
  22. Slick reel for a slick stick!
  23. I'm assuming it's changed. They calculated a shipping cost for me to Canada. That doesn't necessarily mean anything, but it did show it as an option.
  24. How often does the deal change? Do they just list it until their displayed quantity is 0?
