  1. Rick, this post wasn't a reaction to the increase in fungus, I've been advocating closing the city for years, as I got sick of watching anglers fishing for paired up trout on redds, as well as wading through. The fungus issue this year just seems to be another notch on why we should close it.
  2. The number of rainbows that spawn within the section that is open year round is almost nil according to a few of the biologists that have worked on the Bow. Most go up the highwood/fish creek and a few up the elbow
  3. This year in particular it sure seemed that there were more anglers than ever fishing well into October, and knowingly or otherwise affecting brown trout that were getting ready to, on spawning beds or during a spawning event. Yes, there are spawning brown trout within the open portion, quite a lot. I also believe that the browns within the city deserve a break for at least a few months of the year, especially after the hardships that occur during spawning. And really, do you really want to go fish for the skinny post-spawn slugs? With closing the river at 22x upstream, this would leave a very large portion of the river open to access, and still allowing plenty of access for anglers who want to pursue fish well into the winter
  4. With the increasing number of anglers in our city, as well as this last fall being one of the warmer ones (well, till now), I am curious about everyones response to this simple question. This has been talked about at previous Fisheries Round Tables, however before I go looking to knock on any doors regarding it, i'd like to see what the general fly fishing public would think Rather than 'taint' this topic title, I will put my take on it below. If you vote, Please advise what you picked and why!
  5. Awesome video
  6. One of which is installed state side. Haven't seen a single G4Z failure yet...
  7. Of Simms, or Redingtons? Pretty dramatic difference
  8. Yeah they are, which is why there are now designated areas within southland park for swimming, and the fencing that has occurred to keep the dogs out of the natural areas.
  9. They visited the home of one jet owner who had taken a ride up into Far and Fine last year...they will deal with it
  10. Call the city police (not 911). They'll deal with it
  11. How'd you deduce that? The guru has a far better drag than pretty well all of the non-6000 sages. I own two of the 4500s from sage, and i'd trade them in an instant for litespeeds
  12. Ask and you will receive Crush attempt at 30 seconds
  13. Yeah, bear proof... http://www.yeticoolers.com/pages/Grizzly-Proof.html
  14. Yeti's are probably the best out there. Nothing fancy, just hold ice forever and are indestructible
  15. I've been thinking of this recently, as I've been on a bit of a pike fix for the last 2 weeks, including at Clear. It's not really logical in my mind why they allow 1 over 100cm (however, this does protect fish getting up to that point), as they're removing the true trophys. Furthermore, why would they advise keeping the big old females, who by all accounts from the other lakes in the area will be completely unfit for consumption with the amount of mercury within them... Would be cool to allow a couple of the lakes to either be C&R only, or of a slot limit that keeps fish in the 24" range... these lakes can grow some serious toads given the time, and making the regulation such that only fish over 100 cm can be kept will promote poaching of the fish that are just under that range.
  16. Was 133.9 in terrace last 2 weeks. I won't complain about pricing here...
  17. I contacted 311 last Tuesday about this, and only now after bouncing around about 6 times before i got a call back. They're still investigating
  18. It could happen soon, but then again it may not. Your odds of not finding rising fish in March are much higher than the odds of finding them...Water is still quite cold
  19. I don't see how removing fishing reports would remove people from the sport. In fact, I believe that those that learn a river themselves will grow to love that river and cherish it, and then have far more interest in protecting it. I'd expect that they will have a much greater respect than one that gets the information from the internet, and takes that river completely for granted.
  20. Incorrect! You lent me 'love and the wooly bugger'...which you still haven't gotten back! ha, will get it for you
  21. Would love to be able to duplicate Yeti's handles, but it seems I'll be doing rope and tubing...
  22. I just want the handle, I don't need the patch, as i'll attach it to the O-ring on the front...harder to find than anticipated
  23. Any idea where I could find this in town? http://www.theboatpeople.com/popup_image.php?pID=159
