  1. Was there yesterday. You would have never known that they got that huge dump earlier in the week. Crusty crusty under the most recent snow. Still some nice powder in the less tracked trees, but most stuff was picked apart by late yesterday afternoon. Hope you get a good dump!
  2. Country pleasures has it
  3. you realize that this video is a blatant poke at Skagit Master 2, and not a actual spey casting 'lesson'......right?
  4. So it's 100% profit, as long as you dont count all the costs. Gotcha
  5. 100% profit..... Really? That'd be sweet
  6. I never once changed a post to fit my theory. Perhaps you should reread every word, such as "if it works" in the quote from your post 2 posts ago... 35 bucks. That's approx 70 dollars per hour or more on any float, and a lot more for floats like glen to police... It's no wonder I feel stupid everytime I post on this forum, doesn't seem to matter the topic or the fact that it's my own opinion, someone will jump on ya...What a giant waste of time Good luck Jay
  7. I have to say that you are far off base, or at least not understanding how the shuttle companies make themselves more efficient. The drivers will have the keys for the vehicles at Glenmore, Police and Mac, allowing them to use the Client Vehicle as their OWN shuttle service to get to the next take out. Therefore, the "shuttle bus" only has to do one round trip to Glenmore to Carseland and back (if the trips were optimally managed). They do not have the shuttle van go to glenmore, then to policemens, then to mac, etc if they can avoid it. I know that when i'm putting in at mac, i'm not getting moved until they move someone elses down from Police.. Another fact is that most shuttle companies, the drive of the shuttle van IS the owner of the company. Therefore his wage is the profit.. Sorry to get us so off topic, however anyone that makes their living all summer on guiding, understands why the shuttle prices are hard to swallow. I can make my lunches from scratch, buy gas at certain locations, tie my own flies to save myself some money. Any time i could save money on shuttles, i'll take it
  8. How many shuttle companies are running with only 1 driver and 1 shuttler? None that I know of. Most have full vans, shuttling over 5 vehicles per stop (if theres that many that day..). If it works, they can drop off the drivers at Glenmore and pick them up at Carseland. Being conservative with 4 drivers, that's 12 shuttles at $50 (or more) for a 120-130 km round trip... So the company has made 600 bucks. And that would be a slow day most of the summer. So am I really that far off base? Guiding is not making anyone rich, so every extra dollar in pocket at the end of the season is one I'd like. Shuttles are pretty well equivalent to MORE than gas per trip for me.... That's serious dough when added up.. I know almost most any guide would switch shuttle companies if it saved them a bit of money each day.. or at least the ones that depend on guiding for their living
  9. Wish this would let me quote within quotes, so you'll have to go back to your post to see what i was talking about. Replies within in red. again, ranting. apologies
  10. This is my and my own opinion.. I want it done for the sake of the river and the industry. That does not mean restricting members of the public. In fact, any regulation of guiding will make the fishery a NICER place to be for Joe Public. However, the only way to make it work is to reduce total number of angling days by guides...good luck getting that anywhere I asked SRD about making guiding legislated a few months ago. They have no interest at this time, as guiding has to be proven to be negatively effecting a watershed before they will do anything. Why it won't work: - Who decides that you're considered a guide? If you just have to pay a few bucks a year, then what difference will it make than now, other than having the ability to say you're a "registered guide". - How do you manage the amount of guiding on a watershed. - Angling days have to be managed. Who controls this? Who controls how many each guide gets? What criteria do you have to have to get angling days? Who would go for it, if it has the chance of putting themselves out of business. If you grandfather all the current guides in place, then what benefit is there really as the problem is not fixed other than brand new guys on the river. Why i'd like it: Maybe have some swing with the shuttle companies. The shuttle prices are nuts, and we all just suck up and pay it because we have no alternative. Perhaps if we had a voice to say that if a company charges up this much less, they get all the business.... Enough of the guides who have their boat for less than a month and want a way to pay it off quicker.. A friendlier environment. The Bow was a gong show the last few years. Cutting off, pushing fights, keyed vehicles and slashed tired, etc, etc.. It's getting tiring. Here's my opinion on some of the legislation that should get looked at: -Close the Bow, Bearspaw to 22x from Oct15-March 15.. Too many times have I seen anglers (and some guides....) targeting browns while on Redds. Wading and dropping anchor on redds and spawning gravel, as well as hitting the same winter holes day after day. Fish need a break, which they're consistently getting less of year by year. -More accountability for the insane flow changes on the Bow during rain events. -Kill the guiding on cutthroat streams. All you have to look at is the Oldman in the Gap for reasons why. And this one (which everyone will laugh at me for): Stop the insanity of July. No guiding before 7:00AM on the Bow. Will lower pressure for the public, as well as stop the guiding twice per day.
  11. When in June...and what outfitter?
  12. They deserve a swung fly.. Don't cheapen the experience by 'having' to catch one..
  13. Nice Photos. What lens you using Clive?
  14. Thanks for the help. Clive, I'm willing to bet I know that spot! B
  15. Got my new rebel t3i, and have the 17-85mm canon lense... What would be a good next lens for me? Looking for something for shooting close up of fish eating... Would the 70-300mm be ok? Also, what's a tripod I should be looking at, any reccs? Thanks guys
  16. Send Scott Mcgarva (uliwon) on here a message, or facebook. Not sure if he'll check this post without the email saying that he's got a message
  17. so many options... is it cheaper to get them in the states? may have access to get one brought up for me.
  18. Gonna shoot a lot of video I think, but the extra money for a adjustable screen isn't a huge deal for me.
  19. Looking at probably blowing my tax refund on a Rebel T2i or T3i (though the T2i seems like just as good, minus a few little niceties for less money), and wondering where i should be looking for the best deal and customer service. Cannot stand the big box places anymore
  20. Easiest way to find leaks with Simms waders is using a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol http://www.simmsfishing.com/site/repairs_main_new.html
