Dog Owners Opinion
bcubed replied to fishinglibin's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I just figured Shamus constantly was upgrading your truck while you're at work. We recently got a rescue mutt (shes just over a year now), and would never look at going purebred again. She's awesome. A lot of work, but worth it all. Work in = work out -
I guess I should have put a disclaimer, they're heavy, and not great for hiking, but they are by far the best boots I've had for grip. above and beyond others
-
Gotta say, I have the Patagonia predecessor to the foot tractors, and they only come out at very specific times (e.g., the Thompson). They are way too heavy to hike with daily, and also brutal for walking on wet grass or, even worse, on a stripped log. I am on my third pair of the Guide Boots from Simms.. I'll stick with them.

Pretty good report, especially if you know who Bob Hooton is, and the history he has in the fisheries management.

Getting An Aluminum Boat Repainted

Gotta ask, why do you want that boat repainted. It's probably the prettiest boat on the whole river.. -
Calgary Floods And Fishing A Look Back

Also, the dries this year on the Bow sucked. Get the occasional fish, but the fish definitely could careless about them. Likely cause they're destroying all kinds of nymphs and baitfish, as they were all huge -
Calgary Floods And Fishing A Look Back

I think if you ask around, there is certainly bigger fish around now. But I also feel we lost a class of fish. There sure aren't many 16-18" around right now. -
Thinking Of Buying A Drift Boat To Rent Out.
bcubed replied to SanJuanWorm's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I was asked to rent mine out, but I was pretty worried that he'd either sink it and kill himself, or I'd get a boat back that had been beaten to hell... No thanks -

Darrin, it's been done. Real question is ability to launch out of glenmore now that it's not a pad all the way to the river. Dave, I don't think many rentals happen with the companies that have tried -
Think your guys math is off.. I'd say 28. Nice fish either way.

They're not cheap, and there not a shell, but I wear my Patagonia nano religiously, especially the hooded one. Perfect fishing jacket, fall layer or can wear to work. Stuff in a pack easily when it warms up. Funny to think of it now, but that's easily the best $$ I've ever spent on a jacket. Thing is 4 years old and still wear it daily The shelled nano would meet all your requirements, and look way less dorky then the Simms Bulkley

Mel Franklin with Calgary Bow River Shuttles (there's 3 'bow river shuttles' of assorted names)

Most do... That's ok with me

Pretty standard float times. I'd recommend Mac to Jansens if you're not wanting to row as much. Days are a lot shorter now. Really depends on your fishing technique

Sounds very similar. Congrats

Curious to see her, sounds like it could have been a relative to ours (through Humane Society?). Our mutt (Zym) was a rescue, who was apparently a 'shepherd' mix, but we never saw mom. If yours is older, did she have pups when she was brought in? Ours looks very labby, pitbull, boxer, and shepherd all at different times. She was the one of two white ones, rest of the pups were all brindle.

Get an account somewhere like Photobucket. Upload photos there. Get the link for the photo from the site (should end with a .jpeg or similar). Copy and paste that link into the forum between [ img] and [ /img] tags (removing the spaces)

Our Day In Court Approaches....
bcubed replied to jpinkster's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Ok, that's fine. But why give their equipment back, or not continue a ban on fishing for more then 6 months? Seems like that would have been good punishment that would not have cost them a dollar. I feel fines like these should really set a precedent for the general public to look at, and go 'well *hit, probably should think twice about poaching'. If they're so broke, guess they shouldn't be driving to the Oldman to go fishing. Plead the 'woe is me' card at court is BS. Would love to have seen their freezers... 29 fish doesn't seem like the work of first-timers -

$1000, give them their rods back and say no more fishing this year. What a joke. They'll just go places where it's harder to catch them. Shoulda kept their rods and given them a permanent ban, regardless of their background -
Backhoe Work In The Oldman River
bcubed replied to bigbowtrout's topic in News Discussion and Current Issues
By no means was I condoning what was going on, but the way that article was written is that he had some sort of WA approval, and went outside of the boundaries. I do feel that if gets a fine, it'll be a good one as the government has really been pushing the fines on the water protection side of things -

Hate to be the voice of reason, but if they had a water act approval, then he may well be a-ok to be in the river, and the land owner had opportunity to comment had he looked into it. Sounds like he may have been outside of the approval boundaries, but this is hardly unheard of. -
Guess I must be crusty at heart, as I'm hardly able to grow a beard, let alone a well-clipped one. Won't lie WG, when I'm nymphing (typically in the winter), if my 9 footer is hitting the bottom too much, I change my worm to a lighter one
