  1. Depends on the situation at hand. On the Bow I rarely use beaded nymphs, I just drop unbeaded flies from a heavy SJW or stonefly and add extra weight as needed. Same goes for nymphing with a bobber on any river. When fishing a dry/dropper rig obviously a beadhead nymph is preferred.
  2. In the summer months I'm usually too busy fishing to ever get around to organizing my gear. Usually I'll spend one day in the winter organizing boxes, making note of what patterns I need to tie before summer, cleaning out the vest, etc.
  3. I don't actually I'd be interested in casting one though. Just got a nice pay cheque and I want to burn it on fishing gear before it turns into booze.
  4. On the subject of rods, has anyone here casted the Sage VT2? I'm looking for a good smooth-casting 3 weight and want to try a Sage that is not their lowest-priced model.
  5. Well if that happens, they can kiss their already very slim chance at squeaking into the playoffs goodbye. Time to get rid of MacT and find a coach who can keep the team motivated.
  6. Nice post Brown Trout. I'll always remember my first time fishing Racehorse creek. I got onto the stream at dawn, and enjoyed catching a couple cutts on the nymph. After about 1.5 hours of morning solitude, I was working my way upstream when I heard a growl in the woods behind me. At first I thought "bear!", but then realised the sounds were mechanical. The sound grew progressively louder until a bunch of quadders emerged from around a corner and came blazing up a trail that is near the stream. Anyway, for the rest of the day I heard these guys ripping back and forth along the trail, and needless to say it put a real damper on my first 'wilderness' camping/fishing experience. My family thought it was a real drag too, to drive 2 hours from the city for some peace and quiet, only to see that a bunch of hosers decide they like bringing a piece of the city with them into natural areas. If these guys really want to experience the outdoors, a quad is not the way to do it. Save a couple grand and get some hiking boots and binoculars, or a mountain bike instead. The ATV is one of man's most useless inventions.
  7. And Atlanta and Edmonton, the two current dunce's of the NHL, are playing on each other on Sunday. Woo hoo
  8. Huh? I was referring to Yoda's unnecessary knock on a players looks.
  9. Knocking a players physical appearance now? Can't you flames fans do better? Lombardi has no element of creativity to his game. Speed is all he has going for him, if he has a Horcoff-like work ethic he might become a good 2nd line center, but he'll never be a 1st line center on a good team.
  10. And even if the clause wasn't there, why would they sooner shop Tanguay than Lombardi? Lombardi may be fast, but he has stone hands and limited playmaking ability, whereas Tanguay is a very skilled playmaker. They'd be stupid to not sign Huselius since he and Iginla play so well together, but I wonder how much money he'll ask for, as he has been producing really well since last season.
  11. I wouldn't worry about losing Dion, Sutter will give him pretty much anything he wants. Franchise defensemen don't grow on trees. Although the Flames might run into some cap trouble (don't Lombardi and Huselius hit the free agent market this summer as well?)
  12. Nice bug, those should work well.
  13. Yeah, at least until the flames roster starts developing cataracts and fragile hips due to old age
  14. Nice article KS. I wish this province would follow BC's example and start progressing when it comes to conservation. And I can't believe that vp of ATV clubs calls ATV riding a 'sport'. What a joke
  15. So if cutt's are added to the SARA list, they will become protected like the bull trout? I am all for that...
  16. One cell phone, random things like indicators and pliers falling out of pockets, and a box full of streamers (that was the worst). Oh and if this counts: a 97 saturn station wagon, on Highway 532 on the way to the Livingstone.
  17. Thanks for the link Harps, I missed that other thread. I just sent my comments away, hopefully everyone else here will do the same. I really like the idea of the classified waters system here, along with increased CO activity on the Liv and others East Slopes streams. Also, they should just ban ATV and dirt biking completely in that area; restrict them to places that are already f.u.b.a.r like the McLean creek area.
  18. If Sundin gets traded it'll be to a team who has a good chance at winning a cup in the near future.
  19. Indeed, it would be great if folks like that existed, the justice system in this country is a joke.
  20. GREAT, just great. That is what I call justice! edit: hmm not so great, now that I find out this is just an urban legend
  21. I thought Forsberg was signed to a team in Europe this season?
  22. Actually they've won 4 in a row now, only losing 1 game in 2008 so far. People write it off as a lucky streak when really it's just a matter of the Oilers finally getting the roster they had planned on having all year, but couldn't have because of all the injuries. The flames only have one more win than the Oil.
  23. I haven't watched too many Flames games this year, but after last nights performance I think Sutter should be trying to improve their defense. Kipper looked great, guys like Eriksson and Warrener, not so much. But it won't hurt to reduce Kipper's workload, and Cujo looked solid in the Spengler cup so that is a good pick-up. He was my favourite player when the Oilers had him.
  24. Cool story Fishhead, and hilarious story Sundancefisher
