  1. Totally agree man, that guy is a friggin joke. It's unbelievable that he gets away with totally conning his audience Les is the real deal. It would be sweet to go fishing with him sometime and hear all his wild stories.
  2. I don't really care, but I think he'll retire. He's had a great career. What interests me more is tonight's return of Fernando Pisani to Rexall place
  3. Somebody has uploaded a bunch of episodes from seasons 1 and 2 of this fantastic show on youtube. Great stuff to watch on a snowy day, check it out.
  4. Yeah their play of late is pretty shocking. They looked untouchable at the beginning of the season.
  5. Check the standings dude I think Edmonton's plan was to initiate a youth movement while staying competitive, whereas Calgary with their supposed great line-up and new coach were expected by most 'experts' to make a deep run into the playoffs. edit: obviously the season is relatively young, and I'm not saying that Calgary's hopes to be a cup contender are gone, but I don't think bottom feeding was part of their plan.
  6. Don't forget hunting/trophy hunting/the Alberta grizzly bear hunt or spin fishing vs fly fishing
  7. Haha! But fear not flames fans, they have just been bitten with a bit of bad luck. With genius Keenan behind the bench, the brick-wall bargain Kiprusoff in goal, and superstars like Kristian Huselius and Owen Nolan, things will get better soon and in no time they'll be on their way to playing for the Stanley Cup just as all the experts predicted.
  8. Good point. Sorry if the tone of my prior post seemed confrontational, JMasson
  9. I don't see how Montana's waters could be more heavily crowded than Alberta's, with their population of less than 1 million and Alberta's nearly 3.5 million. Do a couple million fishermen really visit during the busiest months?
  10. I have heard Bob Saget tell jokes funnier than that one
  11. Meh, she should have known better than to mock the founder of Islam in a Muslim nation. The consequences really aren't that extreme. Take a look at our own great Western society where people can be sentenced to years in prison for possession (with the intention of personal use) of a plant....
  12. You do realise that the Oilers and flames have the same number of wins, with Calgary only two points ahead of Edmonton thanks to 2 otl's? They would have moved ahead of the flames last night if they had showed up to play 60 minutes of hockey...
  13. Hahahaha, one of the many reasons why I will never cheer for the Calgary flames
  14. Nice one Lonefisher Here are some classic rock/pop ones http://youtube.com/watch?v=kPQR-OsH0RQ http://youtube.com/watch?v=2QY-Lk3WaZQ http://youtube.com/watch?v=DNT7uZf7lew Classic rap/hip-hop: http://youtube.com/watch?v=Df2vkOd2j7Y&feature=related http://youtube.com/watch?v=JFZLq6R-ZtM http://youtube.com/watch?v=lRrM6tfOHds&feature=related http://youtube.com/watch?v=hrNPcaIXhK4&feature=related http://youtube.com/watch?v=Xtr5-hOjJfs And some retro brown stuff: http://youtube.com/watch?v=22oswZ54500
  15. And what is likely the best and most badass performance SNL has ever had: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02z3gIg9lcQ
  16. I think the Oilers are still developing chemistry with all the new players, and that's probably hard to do when MacT is juggling lines constantly. Also, I think their inconsistency could be a result of their youth. A lot of the young'ns are still getting a feel for playing in the big league. And of course the injuries have been ridiculous and took out some of their grittiest players (Moreau, Greene, Souray). And despite Michael Peca's recent comments I still don't have total faith in MacTavish's coaching abilities. At the beginning of the year I didn't expect them to be a dangerous team, but I did expect them to be competitive and be fighting for the bottom playoff spot come March (typical Oilers style ). So far they have disappointed me but hopefully things change soon. What we can be sure of is that with all the young players with tons of potential like Gagner, Cogliano, Nilsson, Gilbert, Smid, Pitkanen (if they can sign him), and Penner, along with the core veterans, this team will be very good in 2 or 3 years.
  17. I can't help but laugh when I see leafs fans who are actually surprised that the team sucks, it seems like you guys have really high expectations for them every season, even though they have sucked for like 40 years
  18. And RJ was trying to emulate Son House and Charley Patton
  19. Totally forgot one - the day that I fished the Bow with Jim McLennan. When it comes to Canadian outdoors writers and fly anglers I'd say he counts as a great one.
  20. One of my favourite bands. They played the Stampede in '68, too bad I was about 20 years unborn. He gets a lot of flack for some of the weak stuff he released as a solo artist, but his talent as a guitar player is undeniable. p.s. JayVee, totally agree about Gilmour/Malmsteen. Yngwie is very skilled technically but his music is cheesy as hell. I think every rock fan worth his salt has experienced chills caused by 'the note'
  21. That is way too cool dude. What did you talk about? My Deadhead uncle ate breakfast with Jerry when they were staying at the same hotel before a show in New York state. He said that Jerry was a really cool and humble guy.
  22. No beef to anyone here but that shredding stuff really grates me. Lifeless tone and playing that is all about technical and physical ability rather than emotion and dynamics. I'd much rather hear one note of BB King's sweet tone and biting vibrato, or 'the note' from Machine Gun than 1000 notes played in 10 seconds by some heavy metal wanker. And if you're gonna be speedy do it like this guy, build up to it dynamically and then unleash the fury when it will have some musical value and maximum impact: Just my 2cents
  23. Very impressive list man. I was a couple feet away from Buddy at a show in Ottawa, when he walked into the crowd while tearing up the strat...would have passed him the spliff if he wasn't busy blowing minds. That's the closest I've come to a brush-with-fame other than some skateboarders who are big on that scene, and a family friend who is a famous mountain biker. If you don't mind me asking, what is your profession? And what was uncool about the Hip? edit: Forgot about my trip to the flames dressing room a couple years ago, where I met Jarome and their goaltender at the time, Freddy Brathwaite (sp?). As a hardcore Oilers fan it was pretty intense being in the heart of enemy territory, but Iginla was really cool, a totally down-to-earth NHL superstar. Freddy was great too, very kind and funny.
  24. Yikes, is that a bull? There's also a clip on youtube that was posted on FFA of some guy landing a brown with the drag-onto-the-bank technique on the Bow. I've seen lots of nice trout landed in that manner at the dam hole on the Elbow. It's a damn shame. I agree that knowledge of proper catch-and-release techniques needs to be more widespread. Forums like this are great for learning about these kinds of things, but of course not all anglers post here and I think some people use poor landing techniques simply because they don't know any better.
