  1. I love the words coming out of your post "this year its not that hard to get into fish because there are so many steelhead in the water right now".... Music to my ears. I'll be up in Smithers on Sunday night!
  2. Breathables all the way man. They are waay more comfortable, you can layer your clothing underneath them so i find that i'm warmer in my breathable then in Neo's. You also won't sweat to death during spring and fall fishing, so they are good for all 4 seasons. Also, for about half of Calgary's so called "summer" the water is a little chilly and i wouldn't want to be just wearing shorts (although some will disagree). The up side for Neo's is that they will last longer. I would also avoid any waders with built in boots because the seams along the boot leaks all the time, and I find that the boot rubs your calf really bad. If it was me, I'd go with a mid ranged pair of Breathables and wading boots from one of Calgary's fine shops (but if $$$$ isn't an issue, I've heard Simms are stellar... I have there boots and they are indestructible), just my 0.02$. Drew
  3. Yeah, I'm not droppimg $450 for the Simms, as good as they may be. Plus I need new waders before I head North to do some serious Steelheading in 2 weeks. In terms of getting the waders fixed, I have no idea. I'll probably do what I usually do when the leaks are super bad....buy another pair...lol. I think i'll try the WJ's, they seem pretty robust.
  4. Thanks for the replies guys. I don't wanna drop +$400 for the Simms though. I can get the WJ's for under $200 bucks and they sell in Calgary for $350, so I figured it would be a good deal. I have seen the G3 and G4's and they are badass but a little to spendy for me at the moment.
  5. Just looking for some feedback on the William Joseph drynamic waders. I was looking at ordering a pair from the states, and everything I've heard about them so far seems to be positive. I need a pair of Waders that will last more then 8 months, and I've gone through Spingbrook, Hodgman , 2 x proline and Redingtons over the past 4 years. Thanks! Drew
  6. Generally taking your dog along is fine, it only becomes a problem when you hook-up a fish and they jump outta the water. As soon as I hook a fish, my lab makes it her mission to try and retrieve the fish, which makes landing fish A LOT more challenging. Now i just leash her up as soon as a have a fish on and try and hold her back while I land it. It also helps if you bring a ball or something to help occupy them.
  7. That sucks man, thanks for the heads up. Hope the pooch get better.

    Spring 2010

Nice fish Jay! That bow is a monster!
  9. Yeah dude, no offense, but all the the places you are thinking about are easy to find with a good map or book. The "Hard to find" waters which take some guys years to find will not just be handed over so everyone who downloads google earth can access them. Maybe PM humblefisherman and see if he will give you some secret spots... ;)
  10. I used to work for Canada Post, the "Handling fee" of $5.00 goes right to Canada Post. Even if it is shipped with USPS, you might still have to pay customs, I think it is totally random how they choose if you pay customs or not.
  11. Death Grip! lol. Gotta love the first one.
  12. Anyone know what bow river shuttles charges for a daily rental of a drift boat? or at least what range the prices are? Also, do they let you tow the boat or do they drop it off? Drew
  13. Sunnyside home and Garden have pretty good prices and the selection is unmatched in the city. But if you want really good deals keep an eye out on Kijiji. http://www.sunnysidehomeandgarden.com/

    Steelhead

Right on! I sure wish I lived on Van Island!
  15. Denny, I posted that pic already...lol. Can't hurt to have it up twice i guess...haha.
  16. Carlsland is closed still I think. Chain lakes might be good, but i'm not sure about the fishing.
  17. Awesome Sucker! Just a few more fish species and you would have a true bow river slam. Nice work man.
  18. On a side note, I hope we have a good Run-off this year. Last year we didn't even have dirty water, but I sure love fishing when the water is up 5 feet and it's raining like cats and dogs.... Not to mention the huge trout that lurk in the shallows!
  19. Don't Skip Finals! lol. The fishing will only get better in the next few months. thanks guys!
  20. I have a buddy that might be interested... he's from saskabush, so he loves walleye fishing. I'll see if he knows any Vets!
  21. thanks guys! It was just one of those days, i don't have many, so I really really enjoyed this one. I'm sure glad I kept convincing myself "Just one more cast"... lol.
  22. I'm pretty pumped after an amazing day on the water. I was down below the city today and had the river pretty much to myself. I easily hooked +20 fish today, and landed ~15 of them.... all Bow's. They were taking almost everything, but the top flies were Wire worm, Brown Stone and larger Pheasant Tails and princes. The last fish of the day was by far the biggest bow I've ever caught on the bow. The Bow was longer then my net which is 23.5 inches, so i'll guess it was 24"... with some serious shoulders. Took about 10 min to get it to shore here are a few crap pictures (I was alone today). Tight Lines!
  23. Just surround your gear with Moth Balls... but then you will smell like an 85 year old retiree....lol
