Oh My God. I thought only my husband listened to that music. Blech. I'm with SJFries....a little Eminem, some Pussycat Dolls, old school "funk" (now called hip hop I guess). And, of course, a TON of Collective Soul.

If I ever hired a guide again (which I wouldn't considering I'm my own rower and guide these days ), I'd hire Todd. Never met the guy before in my life and he says to me at McKinnon's one day (in a real loud voice) "Hey blondie, how'd the fish like the estrogen today". That's the type of fun guy you'd like to teach you how to fish.

I uttered those exact same words with the addition of "I don't do bugs well", some 9 years ago. And here I am today. And here I am today - walking with the bears and cougars fighting off the bugs and hooking myself left right and centre. Keep at 'er....taking her on the Bow will definitely help if you set her expectations before going out.

Fish Creek Park Cougar Caught
LynnF replied to SilverDoctor's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Mike personally knows one of the guys that is used to trap/tree cougars. The guys does it for free, anytime, anywhere. He has been working at his day job, got a call and gone out and trapped/tree'd a cougar - all for nothing but the love of the animals, people and the job. There are people that do this humanely and care...so it's worthwhile to call in. -
Interesting Tips From The 2006 Wffc

Interesting about the "long rods"....it is exactly the opposite of what I thought it would be. And, as for noise in the water...it reminds me of a time I was floating the Red Deer with Dave Jensen. We came upon a rising brown in about 18 inches of water. Rowed downstream of him and parked. Watched him rise and rise and rise. I told Dave to go get him. Then all of a sudden a tractor roared across some land creating vibrations on the side of the river and the trout was gone. Tractor went away, trout came back. Just goes to show you that you don't even need to make noise in the water to spook them. I'm constantly yelling at the kid to quit talking so loud when we approach a pool. Running water is a little more forgiving to noise, but fish in pools go down quickly. Good thing you only have to wait it out for 10 or 15 in most cases. -
Ahh yes...the maiden voyage. Good for you for trying stillwaters first. I tried mine for the very first time on the Bow just shy of runoff finishing. The words "gong show" are very appropriate to describe what went on. That day I hooked into the biggest rainbow I've seen on the end of my line to this day and the swirling frenzy that was my pontoon boat caused a whirlpool so strong that I lost the fish to the vortex. Get yourself some good force fins and definitely an anchor (a pyramid one) and you're good to go. Nice fish BTW!

I own one pair of Manolo Blahniks and I call those FAKE!!! But I'll tell ya...if I didn't have a pontoon boat already, I'd be going to buy one just to wear a pair of those. Magnificent! -
hahahaha Grizz....good one. You guys are all freaking me out now. All this cougar and bear talk. I've never had a bear or cougar encounter in the 9 years we've been going down south. Why do I get the sick feeling my kharma is about to run out. Glad you're OK Pipe and lived to type about it.

Fanny pack...probably about 5 pounds, not including the 2 bottles of water I normally carry. Take a look at all that weight on your back....my shoulders ache just thinking about it. Just can't be good for you. Especially when you get old like me

Kitties rule. So do Cougars

That even falls below the category of bad joke of the day. Pretty bad when you can't even qualify for that

Loving The Livingstone To Death?

In my experience (I wrote letters on behalf of 2 organizations in the past), I would think that the members of this forum as a whole would carry a lot more weight than single individuals writing a letter. If a letter were crafted and the names of those supporting members were added, I think that would be awesome. -
And I broke 200!!!! I have a LOT of time at work to waste. Watch out!

Df Painter Cleaning Paint Bucket Into The Storm Sewers
LynnF replied to markd's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
My son (grade 7) had an opportunity to do that for this summer but couldn't due to camp etc. But I guess they're going out there and painting yellow fishies all over the city again. Good. You'd be amazed at how many people will wash their cars in their driveways and not know that they can't. Big fines for that too. One guy even told me (after I was a very nice neighbour and told him that if bylaw caught him doing that he'd face a stiff fine), that he was doing biodegradeable soap from Canadian Tire and it was OK. Some people refuse to get it. I'm on a mission with concrete waterers....you can't believe - even just on my street - how many people water their concrete to the point where it's a stream flowing down the street into the sewer. What a total waste. If you can't get your sprinkler to just hit your grass then water the damn lawn by hand. -
Me too.

Ya...I wish Clive Although I do admit - Dave does need a good spankin'

It's "the" place for random campers now. Big camps with multiple units (we counted a camp with 27 trailers/rigs a few weeks ago). So bad that it is blocking access to the river if you like to drive off the road, park and walk to the path. Even saw a camp that had a tarp right across the pathway behind their campsite so you couldn't walk it anymore. Hoses in the river, dozens of beer cans in the river, garbage everywhere, *hit not buried. You name it, it's there. It's out of control - moreso than any other area or any other year.
-
Thanks Dave...appreciate the correction. So nice that people care the way you do Miss Grade 3 Spelling Bee for the GTA (and, ya....I really was)

Absolutely is due to the hot, dry weather. Going on to a month now since any significant precip down there. Typical July in the hills.

Taco - you're right about the new minister. But that track...I dunno. You really think someone "built" it or is it just from years and years of use? That trail (and I know where you're talking about) is used by quadders, bikers and trucks hauling trailers. It'd be easy to get something in that shape when the ground is all wet early in the year over the course of the last 6,7 years. Regardless of how it came to be.....it's disgusting. Take a drive up the OMR road yet?
