Heading South With The Famn Damily.
LynnF replied to sjfries's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
All the streams in the S.W. have trails (OMR, Liv and tribs). So it's possible to tag along fishing with you and follow the trails if they have no waders. On the other hand, Mike (my husband) and I took out a couple of newbies on Saturday up Racehorse to give them a few pointers and get started. I took a camera intending to just take pics and wore just my wading boots. As it turned out, I crossed the river a few times without waders and, while it was a bit chilly, it wasn't too bad once you got used to it. Just can't stand in there for hours and fish is all. It's tough to find a stream in the mountains that doesn't need to be crossed at some point in time or another though due to a high wall or cliff or whatever. At least I haven't found one. Have fun! -
Birchy's Bad Joke Of The Week - June 25
LynnF replied to birchy's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
To make up for my last one: An out-of-breath 8 year-old girl ran up to her grandfather, who was tinkering in his workshop, and confronted him with the universally dreaded (by adults) question. "What is sex...?" He was surprised she'd ask such a question at her age, but thought if she's old enough to ask, she's old enough to get a straight answer. He wouldn't shirk his responsibility. Steeling himself to leave nothing out, he proceeded to describe for her all the variations of human sexuality he could conjure, careful to impress upon her the joys and responsibilities of intercourse and procreation. When Grandpa was finally done pontificating, the little girl stood frozen, as though nailed to the spot, and looked at him with her mouth open, eyes wide in amazement. Seeing that she was overwhelmed, he asked her what had caused the sudden curiosity. His granddaughter shook off her reverie and replied, "Grandma says dinner will be ready in a couple of secs." -
Birchy's Bad Joke Of The Week - June 25

Peanut was walking down a dark alley. He was assaulted. -
Well Holy Sh*t!!!! I NEVER win anything! I'm super excited. Thanks much guys and thanks very much to Dave and the FFC board for this absolutely wonderful prize. And it just so happens I was whining over my broken Orvis just last week and worrying about what I was gonna use on the Bow. Bloody awesome...thanks!

Sorry for your pain Dave, but this was WAY too funny not to laugh at. The only thing that would have been funnier is if you were wearing a skirt and it flipped over your head showing your undies. Not that that has ever happened to me. And not that you'd be wearing a skirt while fishing. Would you? I just don't know with you guys anymore I, on the other hand, scaled a straight=up hill on Vicary this weekend and down a wall on Racehorse and maintained fine form. No wonder my waders have a hole in the rear. I gotta quit going down hills on my ass. But when you get to my age, when you do what you did this weekend, you'll surely be in hospital for a hip replacement. Hope you're feeling better soon - there's a big long weekend coming up that begs for adventure!

Lynnf - Breathable Wader Pants?
LynnF replied to birchy's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Ya...I already got a pair. And it's probably no coincidence that I've never drowned either. And I'm not altogether sure that my fishing partner will agree our pocketbook can support some fancy schmancy new waders either. But I'm a woman. And my mind is made up. -

I just gotta say....I don't know if that is even in the running for the "unofficial" record, but it definitely wins the "official" title of the fugliest whitefish I've ever seen. -

Omigod Birchy.....I feel so bad now! I'll be making room for that other foot in my mouth....I hope I didn't offend you. Probably a good thing you won't grow to 7 feet....custom waders would probably be in order. Dave...honestly....Banana Hands.....I did laugh at that. -

wow...you do have some Fred Munster mitts going on there Birchy! So where'd you catch that second whitefish? I love whitefish...they're my favourite. -
Sturgeon fishing is on my list of "things to do before I die". I can't wait for the day I get to do it - in B.C. though - not somewhere where they will fly at my head.

If you go onto cnn.com's website this morning, they have a new video of this phenomenon. The reporter gets just smoked by 2 big carp. Same story, just a different day. Still inneresting though.

I watched the video of these flying sturgeon the other day.....yikes is an understatement. They looked like huge sharks bolting out of the water.....was wicked.

That makes me wanna go shopping now....I might not wait for Santa.

Stampede Concert that's a must-see...INXS and COLLECTIVE SOUL....my wet dream come true. Private concert at Fort Calgary on July 11th. $50 a ticket includes dinner - unbelievable price for those 2 acts. Found out about this by chance from the guy that runs the website www.socialinsider.ca. Great website - really the pulse of concerts and entertainment in Calgary. If you want tickets, here's how to get 'em http://www.stampederoundup.com/asp/abletobuy.asp Click on arcturus and use passcode stampederoundup2007

Like yer reel in those pics Dave....is that your Islander? I was in WSS last night and have my eye on one that I'm hoping Santa will bring me for my birthday. They're pretty slick.

The colours on those fish are awesome. Sounds like you had a great trip and with the C$ being almost at US$ par I bet that $375 was an easy pill to swallow. Well worth the money if you ask me - and as you've well found out. Cold water huh....I'll skip the shrinkage question If you're after some good grease for the reel, get some stuff called "Hot Sauce". That stuff kicks ass. Took our 5+ year old unmaintenanced and trashed reels and turned them into brand new this year.

Hey....was that guy DavDev??? -
As far as I'm concerned if you are a responsible ATV'er, then you shouldn't be ashamed or afraid to say so. Responsible ones are few and far between in this province. I can't stand the ones who don't give a crap and rip up wherever they feel like it. Used responsibly and with care and consideration, I'm all for them. In fact I may even an owner myself one day soon.

See...I like that....a guy who's always thinking. I just knew that there had to be a way to profit from desperate fly fishermen

You homophobes will love this one. A man escapes from a prison where he's been locked up for 15 years. He breaks into a house to look for money and guns. Inside, he finds a young couple in bed. He orders the guy out of bed and ties him to a chair. While tying the homeowner's wife to the bed, the convict gets on top of her, appears to kiss her neck, then gets up and goes into the bathroom. While he's in there, the husband whispers over to his wife: "Listen, this guy is an escaped convict. Look at his clothes! He's probably spent a lot of time in jail and hasn't seen a woman in years. I saw how he kissed your neck. If he wants sex, don't resist, don't complain... do whatever he tells you. Satisfy him no matter how much he nauseates you. This guy is obviously very dangerous. If he gets angry, he'll kill us both. Be strong, honey. I love you." His wife responds: "He wasn't kissing my neck. He was whispering in my ear. He told me that he's gay, thinks you're cute, and asked if we had any Vaseline. I told him it was in the bathroom. Be strong honey. I love you, too

awww...that's very nice of your wife. Hope you enjoy your new present! Even I'm not that nice. Oh wait...I did buy my husband a pontoon boat a few years ago. 2 of them actually - a big one and a small one. And a new rod a few years ago. This year he's just getting a screwdriver set.
