  1. Sorry dudes....I work downtown and I have the whole day off. An extra day for cutthroat torture down south. Yee friggin' haw. God I hate the Stampede.
  2. I am really pretty sure that the FD wouldn't be "joy riding" up the Highwood. Hate to hear that your fishing was ruined, but I'd say if they were beating it up there then there was a good reason. That's about the only kind of jetboat I dont mind seeing on the river. Guess I better not go buy that 25 horse for our zodiac now
  3. Ya thanks Weedy...I had to go back and look at it again after your last post If it's not a dog, then you got me on what it could be. Looks like a small terrier kind of thing. Poor fluffy if that's the case.
  4. And here's one of Jessie after the defeat. Unfortunately when it comes to greyhound racing around the trailer, brains do not beat out speed
  5. ICK ICK ICK!!! Don't even wanna know about dead cat corner - probably something DD created I seriously fear the day I am floating down the river and come across a body....which is a total reality this year with that one guy still missing from the ill-fated rafting trip earlier this year. Or that baby that that woman tossed in there a few years ago. That'd be just about the most awful thing ever. I even get grossed out when I see big dead fish on the bottom of the river. That poor dog.....
  6. awwww.....written even better than you told it on Sunday night!!! Hopefully you will get great joy from your little daughter one day when she's old enough to hit the river with you (and not in utero!). It was a great long weekend - one of our best ever. And it was good to meet you 2 - or 3! And of course Mr. B who was out there just slaying them even yesterday I resisted the urge to pinch his hammock while he was gone. Oh ya....those plates in my dog's knees were worth every penny - he wasn't even the slightest bit lame the next morning and rarin' to get on the river again. Mind you he's wrecked today and it will take him a few days to recover but I think that was the hardest I've laughed in a while! What would life be without crazy dogs eh?
  7. so much for my postwhore aspirations Yep...it was a deer. It was on the OMR....or rather in the OMR. Funny thing was that I walked either on it or around it going upstream to a pool and never noticed it at all. You could see the ribs but they just looked like funny rocks what with the wind blowing and distorting the water. But when I was upstream fishing, Mike was downstream and yelled at me to come down to where he was. When I saw what he was pointing at from the direction I was coming from, it was crystal clear what it was. To me anyways - he thought it was a cow. Anyways, I found it kind of eerie...sat down on a rock and just stared at it and wondered how it came to be there. Did it die on a dry bank and the river came up and over it? Did it drown accidentally? Did a bear kill it and drag it to the river? I wondered for quite a while until I realized it was really quite sick and went back to fishing. The dead deer fishing kharma musta got me because I never caught anything after that. Could be that I was a little distracted after that.
  8. Nope. Hey....this post could make me the new FFC postwhore if this keeps up!
  9. I don't have a prize to give away, like a new TFO rod and reel say, but if you can guess what this is, I'll tell the story behind it.
  10. Those are some beauty shots Clive!!!! And Brian....those horseshoes up yer arse must really hurt. That's a close call - I don't think I would have had anything clean to wear home if that was me - I'd be scared shitless. It's kinda funny - was sitting around a campfire Sunday night (with Pete Zahut, his wife and Mr. Botangles - very fun!!) and were talking about how many times we've been on the Bow and hit a storm coming off of it at the boat launch but never been stuck on the river during one or rained or hailed off during a float. Me thinks that it's only a matter of time before that happens. God help me when it does. After living in Toronto (land o' the tornadoes), storms scare the bejesus out of me.
  11. Damn....I washed it last night. I'll take another pic next weekend....she always comes home a lighter shade of dust compared to the deep shade of red when I get there.
  12. DBT - the righteous angler in me says WAYTAGO. But the peace lover in me says WHOA...THAT'S EXTREME. Either way, you stopped him fishing for the day. Did you wind up reporting the jerk after the fact?
  13. Amazing pics. The rainbows in there have awesome colours! Bulls don't look too bad either
  14. I second that...it's the miracle glue for waders.
  15. A very wise woman (Lynda McLennan) once taught me a very valuable thing about rods - NEVER, EVER lay your rod down on the ground. I'd probably have lost a hundred rods by now between my kid and my dog if I didn't follow her advice. So thank God for warranties eh?
  16. Please do not tell me you're pregnant again Brian
  17. This is a great site. I hear you can even win prizes here
  18. how awesome would that be......
  19. That's awesome RabbiEE. Only in the last couple of years have I figured it out the way you wrote it. Prior to that I was on a mission to prove I could catch fish by whichever means I could. Now I could care less. As my husband says - it's called fishing for a reason, not catching. Catching fish is just a bonus. And that's so true. I actually walked a stream last Saturday without a rod and had a hand in teaching some new fly fishers and my youngest son how to catch a trout on a fly. It was probably the single most rewarding day I've had on stream so far. And I saw some scenery that I hadn't seen in the dozens of times I'd been there before. Look forward to reading more of your stuff!
  20. Good going Dave. As someone who is living with someone who is giving up Backwoods cold turkey and on day #9, I can sympathize how hard this must be for you. You're over the hump now - it takes 21 days to make and break a habit. You're in the clear.
  21. This is all great information guys - exactly what I was after. Thanks very much!
  22. Only one of the many I'm afraid
  23. That's dandy! Glad you had a good time. That's what Mike said when he got back from Sask last week - couldn't keep the pike off the line long enough to catch a laker. I love your sunset pics - I'm such a sucker for sunset on a lake

    Cutty Porn

I'm gonna play that song for my 13 year old tonight. In about 3 minutes he can learn all of life's lessons. Catchy tune
  25. It's not like I don't hit that intersection on the way into and from work each day either. Duh. It truly is the biggest CF I've ever seen in my life. Except for Deerfoot and Bow Bottom/Anderson. Ick. I need a traffic rant thread now. Time to go write something on my Facebook.
