  1. Tell me SL....in which industry do you work and what do you do? Is it any way related to the industry/companythat is causing such dire environmental damage that you've got your knickers in a twist about? I'm betting it is, directly or indirectly. So one should be careful about what one cares to care about. Either that or one should leave his job and/or the province if one cares so much. Just another dead and beaten horse on this board - just the names and places are different.
  2. Speaking of which - I wonder what it does take to get the maximum $300,000 fine and 6 months in jail? What would you have to do? I'd bet that has never been given out, nor ever will. So what's the point. The courts and system are the joke here.
  3. I be from the East too....but no worries....I won't take offense. It seems that there are alot of folks from Ontario who are as dumb as bricks - and I even know a few. But manning up? I dunno...they're just doing damage control now - apologize and seem all remorseful so that the reporters have nothing left to sensationalize and all this goes away - they know how it works. Call me a cynic.
  4. Gotcha now. But that ain't nothin' compared to what's out there. Shoulda taken a pic of the last permanent latrine I saw still standing after the fine folks had left - about...er....20 yards from the creek. Don't be drinking that water. This is a big issue that's been going on for years and years...and nothing surprises me anymore. Some people just think nature is their God given right to enjoy and abuse...and as long as nobody does anything about it (ie enforcement) it'll continue and get worse. Thems the facts of life.
  5. We stored our 27 foot at Calderone Acres in Carseland. Cheapest place we could find - I think $30/month (goes by footage). Look them up www.calderoneacres.com. Call Ted - great guy.
  6. Funny about the Shop Vac idea - Mike had the same sort of idea! The hardened foam seems to be holding and I've only seen a couple flying around so I don't think they're getting out which is good. I don't think they're honey bees...their nest is underground somewhere. They are yellow and black with a red ass end - any idea what they are? But I did go buy some oven cleaner - was cheaper than another can of Raid - so thanks for that tip!
  7. And in the category of best unknown Mexican restaurant: http://cnews.canoe.ca/CNEWS/Crime/2009/08/...406511-sun.html
  8. The threats are over the top - no call for that whatsoever, but these guys are only sorry they got caught and now everyone knows who they are. There's no doubt in my mind that they're cruel and got pleasure out of what they were doing - illegal or not. I'd hate to see how they treat their family pets. I hope they get the maximum everything thrown at them. And I hope they're scared shitless - they should be.
  9. it would appear that Raid fly and mosquito killer seems to do the trick. Just might need a few cans - and you pretty much gotta be in the danger zone to use it LOL Hopefully the foam keeps them from coming out and kills them - but I'm not optimistic. My SIL told me her nest chewed threw foam and duct tape before they made their great escape.
  10. Help! I have a bee's nest underground right beside my front porch. It's a bee's nest, not a wasp nest. We got some foam and have sprayed the crap out of the crack and surrounding area to try and seal it but all we've done now is seal it up and made a whole bunch of bees really mad who want to get back in. Can't even walk out the front door. Any suggestions, short of hiring an exterminator, are much appreciated. The exterminator route is a last resort. Oh...and please don't suggest what the 12 year old at Home Depot did: put on a snowsuit and whack the *hit out of the nest with a stick. So helpful.
  11. I love the quote in this link "and they talk on video...that's unusual". You know the guy wanted to say "what a bunch of ****ing morons" LOL I'm glad they got caught....and with all the charges they're facing I'm betting there's gonna be a nice little fine or two. At any rate, their duck...er....goose is cooked. Good to see. http://www.calgarysun.com/news/canada/2009...404751-sun.html
  12. That's Mike's favourite....he always asks me to go and get him some. My excuse: it's not on the way. I love their corn fritters and shrimp but it pretty much stops there.
  13. I'm glad you mentioned El Sombrero - been looking for a good Mexican restaurant too. Boyd's has, by far, THE BEST clam chowder I have ever had in my life. I'd go there just for that.
  14. OH YEA! Just looked at their website...that's what I'm talkin' bout. Any place that has a burger that features a hot dog topper is worth a visit!
  15. I didn't find it overly special. Quit going there after the whole milkshake E coli incident
  16. I'm sure a couple of you guys must watch this unbelievably delectable and artery-hardening show. Shouldn't watch when hungry though. Anyhoo.....Mike and I were talking about how much we wish Calgary had a place/places like the restaurants on the show. So.....if you watch the show and you know what we mean, and you know of any places in Calgary like that - throw names out at us! I'll go buy myself a mid-life crisis convertible and do my own show if I get enough suggestions!
  17. I don't think the job Birchy got was because of my referral. But I know he did apply and I'm hoping my buddies there recognize what a great addition he'd make to their team And...after 2 days...I'm unemployed again. I quit...long story short, boss was an ahole. Onto something bigger and better though!
  18. Wow....I feel like I've been rickrolled...sorta....but not really. And no nipple comments from me.
  19. awwwwwwwwwwwwww....he's got such a great, honest face!
  20. Based on my experience camping and fishing in that area for the past 10 years, I'd feel comfortable packing everything up and taking a chance. Even on a long weekend there are spots to be found - not primo ones, but even the Oldman campground has been known to be practially desserted if all else fails.
  21. Well...after 3 days of collecting EI, it seems I'm employed as of tomorrow. Not 100% sure it's the job for me, so I'm gonna try it out much in the same way I'd try a new pair of shoes. Temp is a wonderful thing. Was kinda liking this not working gig. Oh well.
  22. I dig creepy stuff. I'll show up.
  23. heard that all will be returning to normal starting Thursday. Thank God...little unnerving driving around keeping the tank topped up for fear of not being able to get gas. A sign of things to come perhaps?
