  1. This is definetely the strangest thread ever...and I love it!
  2. Overlining is almost always a good thing. I don't always do it, but I like slow action rods and they do all the work for me, can you say slingshot!
  3. Who knows...Don't see why they'd ask for a win card...the regs say you only need your liscence. In Ontario, it's all on a card and the COs carry scanners. I'm all for that.
  4. Thanks for the great replies guys. Cdock, it's got something to do with being a Saskatchewan deer hunter, climbing in and out of coulees full of snow will do that to you. Although I suprise myself, being an overweight smoking white dude!
  5. Hmmm. I can cast dries further than anything else. You should try to bring that rod to as an abrupt stop as possible on both ends of the cast. I'm definetely no casting instructor though!
  6. Yeah, I barely did either. The trick is to get mad at the incline and power up it. This will most likely result in broken bones for me though!
  7. Were these taken tuesday...I'm asking cause I saw some ww2 looking jet bustin moves above the wood for a few minutes.
  8. I figured it was only a matter of time before someone posted something like that, Lynn!
  9. Had my usual days off earlier this week and decided to go chasing cutts. Hit the highwood at about 7 a.m. on tuesday morning and climbed down to some of my favorite pools...actually, I climbed in and out of the canyon a total of 6 times, and I was paying for it later that night. Anyways, I caught some nice fish on the dry and finished out the day with 15 fish or more. Most were small, but I had one, I believe it to be a cutbow, that probably broke 13 inches. Also had a nice bully pop a rather large cutty off my line. I just stood there laughing like a madman in the woods. Couldn't have asked for a better day, and enjoyed the scenery and the solitude. Hit a small oldman trib the next day and enjoyed the best dryfly action of my life! Well over 25 cutts to hand and lost a huge number of fish as well. Every pool seemed to be devoid of fish, but all the runs were JAMMED full of fish. Best of the day was a tubby cutt that was pushing 20 inches. I used the same fly all day as well, and the more "buggered" it got, the better. Anyways, I will be back to this trib for sure.
  10. Here's Mr Denty on the FTR.....beeeyyyaaahhhhh!
  11. What...no more posts birchy? Someone got skunked!
  12. Besides the point. You got lucky, and he didn't ask for "liscense and win card please".
  13. This was on here last month...regardless, still a great video.
  14. I didn't even push play...
  15. Saw this clip a LONG time ago...still funny...and it was actually on a game farm, so....
  16. They want to see neither...your win card simply puts you on the system and enables you to purchase licenses for fishing and or hunting. As for the cash reciept...that money goes back into the hobby you enjoy. I have a problem with the CO that I called, but no problem with supporting my passion...you sound like you do though.
  17. LOL Worst for me was when I hooked a sucker at upper lake. Leaned over the fish and tried pulling it in by the tippet. The line stretched and the hook tore loose, and that beadhead smacked me right in the middle of the forehead at 100mph. I looked like I was hindu or something. I wasn't wearing shades and that would have popped my eye like a grape.
  18. Well, I'm cooled off today, and I have the distinct feeling this guy is an exception to the rule. As for calling the supervisor...meh. Honestly, If I called the supervisor every time I heard misinformation from a C.O. I would have quite the phone bill. I've been told "use pike belly as bait", "there's bull trout in here?", and various other goofy things, but what can you do...they probably are great at their job otherwise...if that makes sense.
  19. Ok. I am misunderstanding you. No attack on you personally. It's an excuse but I was having a s**t day.
  20. Yeah, and I'll just try to let it go...even though I want to call a supervisor.
  21. Well, I phoned RAP tonight to report an infraction, and was told by the CO that "there is no bait ban on that stretch of the bow river", "You can use bait until a certain date, and then you can only use maggots." After I read him the regs over the phone, he recanted with "Oh, I thought you meant below the WHD weir", "because you can use bait there." "I'm a ways out from your location, so I might make it, OK." That was that, and I'm not making this up guys. Wow, am I dissapointed.
  22. I found it elitist because you mentioned "spin fisherman" and not fly. You also prefer people to poach? If someone catches a fish with a zero retention limit and keeps said fish because of "injuries" or because it is likely to die, it is POACHING. Can you fathom the amount of people keeping fish and simply telling the CO that "it was injured, so I had to keep it". Maybe I am just misunderstanding you, but I'm educated enough to process what I read. I have nothing against you personally, I'm just doing my best to understand exactly what you are trying to say.
  23. Dude, that's elitist. There are fly fisherman that suck at fish handling as well. Actually in addition to being elitist it makes no sense and was clearly made in haste.
