  1. I've caught rainbows to 10 lbs out of diefenbaker, and rainbows to 25 inches in the bow. Trust me, the 10 lbs fish fought way harder.
  2. Needs to be a government certified scale...meaning one that is checked out and calibrated by the authorities of some sort...don't think a scale in your boat will get you an IGFA record then. What's to stop you from changing up your personal scale after you weigh the fish with photos, and then send it to IGFA?
  3. Yeah, but it's a world record, legal to keep, and a commercial hatchery escapee...so yeah.
  4. Holy! That thing is crazy. Those hatchery escapee fish are nuts!
  5. We'll, I hit the northwest for a bit starting at 7 and fished to 11. I hooked one on the third cast, which turned out to be a dink brown which shook off at my feet. Then hooked a much larger fish for all of a second, and he was gone. A buddy of mine was able to catch a sucker on a rapala though He doesn't fish alot so it was nice to see him catch something! Anyways, heres 2 pics.
  6. Amazing picture Cowtown Scribe!
  7. Holy crow! Thanks for the comments guys. Only problem with this whole thing is that someone told me about this spot, and if he finds out that I told someone... it's a great spot, and I admit I don't own it, and I am putting pictures up after all. So I'll bring it up with him, and see what he says. I'll go from there.
  8. Thanks for the comments guys...now who wants to buy me 12 Litovel Czech beers...so they can catch some of these...
  9. Went fishin last week...here you go.
  10. Nice fish! Gotta love the lower K!
  11. I have a feeling this is a sarcastic remark....I hope! Off by one, or ten. Shouldn't matter. "Officer, it's only short of the size limit by one a centimeter, and thats a half a barb on that hook" wouldn't work either. Poaching is bad enough....justified poaching is even worse.
  12. Actually, Outcast is still being carried and water skeeter is being dropped. 20% off all water skeeter boats...but anyways. Go to any big box type store now, and they tend to be short staffed...unfortunate but true. I however, think that slamming businesses in the fishing industry, on a fly fishing web site is bad form and immature.
  13. I've talked to the reps about this one when I worked at Ribtor. Counter assault was the strongest spray, strongest meaning the most concetrated capsacin (sp?) content. The bear should be no more than five meters away in order for the spray to be "effective". Unfortunately, I think that no matter what the direction of the wind is, you will get some on you. So cover your eyes while you spray the bear! Just kidding. The stuff works though, if you actually have the guts to hold your ground and give him a full on blast to the face. I personally know people who have used it and had the bear rolling around, rubbing it's face in the dirt and thumping into trees. I hope I never have to use my spray though, I recommend you just make some noise...karaoke in the woods anyone! Oh yeah, keep it in a holster, or somewhere accessible. You can't dig through your backpack, do some hail marys, poo yourself, and spray the furball at the same time!
  14. Sounds like a good day! Next time you are at the K lakes, sink a streamer REAL slow to bottom and strip er back ever so slowly. Wine coloured streamers or black beadless nymphs are a good bet. If you wait for the lake to fill up a bit, fish the mud flats right infront of the upper k day use site. Small bloodworm or midge larvae chronomids below an indicator work for me. I stress the fact it worked for me AT TIMES, cause that lake has kicked my butt many times.
  15. Terrestrials rule! Ever catch lakers on a dry? Well, Lonefisher, there is a small pond near your town full of smaller lakers that will feed off the surface on a flying ant invasion. Awesome! Thanks for the heads up!
  16. I agree. Very sad. I almost hope that the details are NOT released. The obsession with the macabre these days confuses me. Although, at times, details of an incident serve as awareness pertaining to safety issues. My condolences to the family of this fisherman.
