  1. I own the cheapies and have used em 20+ times. No problems yet, wait till I climb around in the highwood canyon!
  2. Heh heh...2010 fly fish calgary....check out this whitefish!
  3. Good job Glen! You are the new king of consistency on the lower lake.
  4. MMAX, the only way to access the closed area on foot is if you take the turn off marked Penninsula, which is a left turn off of the Smith Dorrien Trail or Spray lakes road. So you shouldn't accidently fish it if you don't go there. I would fish the outflow, which draws water from the upper lake and into the lower lake. You could also fish Kent creek inflow which is on the lower lake. Or, you could fish boulton creek inflow. On the upper you could fish interlakes, sarrail falls, or directly infront of the upper lakes day use site. Grab a kananaskis lakes map from a sporting goods store. These spots are all clearly marked on this map. Suspending chironimids and streamers work, or you can strip in streamers. Patience at these lakes is key my friend.
  5. Hmmmmm....tough one! I would say 20 + inch brookies fight pretty hard...but big bulls pull pretty hard too. Rainbows give you the acrobatics, and browns are wily and wrap you around rocks and branches. Cutts roil the surface, and lakers cartweel and hold deep. I think it comes down to the last big fish a person has caught...that one always fought the hardest.
  6. Cool! I saw six last year. This year I've seen a big griz sow with two cubs, and a big black sow with two cubs. I have a feeling there will be alot of sightings this year after the "mild" winter. LOL! Maybe, but there are quite a few bears up there guys.
  7. Very cool. Americans scare me though!
  8. Switch it up, like everyone else said. Keep an eye out for small fry and imitate them. Don't be afraid to be unorthodox either. Patience is key up there. You might make 200 casts before you nail one but man is it worth it. Have fun guys, look forward to hearing the results.
  9. HA HA. Don't let that go to your head now!
  10. Sadly, I don't think it ever will. But...It is like this in most aspects of life right? At least you guys are PERSONALLY trying to make a difference, and it's cliche but thats where it starts. Good on ya. One of my fondest camping memories includes a grizzly 600cc, I stuck to the trails and did all kinds of exploring...it was a blast.
  11. Write this "guide" a letter. www.bowriverblog.com
  12. Do a search for bow river blog ugghhhh...there is a picture of like every damn fish they have caught on there. Every single one with centered pupils. Sad thing is, I've met these guys on numerous occasions....my tounge nearly bleeds everytime...I will even buy you guys a NET! Actually, you can have three hooks per line. A treble counts as one hook because it is a common shaft. Check it out in the regs.
  13. Yeah, great stuff Glen! I've been rocking that nice Glenbow Flyfishing shirt you gave me. Hopefully this doesn't create a "waiter, there's a fly in my soup" situation.
  14. Hmmm...I don't have a big problem with the video. Looks like well established trails for the most part. I believe those are puddles and not streams. Before I get crucified, let me state that I'm not sure of the exact areas within Indian Graves this is happening. Regardless, if one of these "trails" led to a lake full of 20+ inch brookies, 30+ inch bulls, etc...and you had a truck............................................................
  15. Thanks guys. LK that is the easiest thing to tie in the world. Takes about 3 minutes. Thread based body. Marabou tail tied in first, mylar tubing tied down over top, dumbell eye, pick out mylar...presto. I was trying to imitate those yellow suckers with the black lateral line I see in there. Thanks again guys.
  16. So I hit the Lower K this morning. Started chucking streamers for the bulls, and probably fished for about an hour with no hits. Changed up to a little nameless fly I tied up last night, and on the first strip of the first cast it got hammered. This fish didn't even take me into my backing though. Lots of headshakes and rolls on the surface...should have heard me talking to myself when I saw it was a cutty. Anyways, a personal best for me. Net is 20 inches across, so I would give a conservative estimate of 23 inches or so on the fish. I fished for a bit more after that, with nothing, but my day was made none the less.
  17. My dad doesn't fish much. I remember teaching him how to fish when I was twelve though. Kind of backwards huh? We fish together every year in Northern Saskatchewan though. I guess my best memory is when we were motoring down the lake and hit a big stump with the prop. We stopped and while I was inspecting the motor, he caught 3 pike over 8 lbs on consecutive casts!
  18. I know that it's off and on, weather wise, but I went and fished somewhere else instead, but that damn wind. The fish gods were not completely in my favour.
  19. Got to the K lakes around 7 am this morning and after 2 casts or so, this huge blizzard blew in en gave up after about ten minutes. Any one else try? I was in the gold s10, flying out of there on the 40 by the way, snickering at all the vehicles heading into it!
  20. There's more out there than you think. I've known about her for a while now...she must get so sick of this. HA! Good for you April! Show all the boys how it's done!
  21. I'm sorry, but judging from the picture, I'd rather have a turd mounted on my wall....it's called ice, dude! The taxidermist will have to be good for that one for sure!
