  1. I have been meaning to post this for a while but i've had fishing to do. It has been an amazing summer of fishing i spent most of my time on the BOW but it was a real treat to make it to the mountains a couple times to a magical place in banff that i belive is the only lake in Alberta that has Yellowstone cutts the golden trout is beautiful and rare but i belive the Yellowstone cutt comes in close and is more rare than the Golden, they grow big also. Im not going to mention the name of the lake if you do figure it out i ask you keep it to yourself and make others work to find it or donate a bunch of money to the Streamwatch when i donate the trip again in the next auction. . First some of the most amazing views in Banff Now for the Fish Porn. I love the colors and the spots on these fish they are truly amazing and willing because of the late spring the fishing was a little off for the stream watch trip i think we got 30 between three of us however i went up later with some of my brothas and we must of timed it perfect. I've been going to this lake for 15 years and i have never seen so many fish and fish over 20 inches it was truly epic between 5 of us we landed 170 fish. There are 4 other lakes that we fish up there one i will not talk about. But one lake we fished in the full moon for 12 to 14 inch Brookies and west slope cutts it was dark soo there are no pictures but there is nothing more amazing than fishing in the dark and the moon making the mountains glow all around with the quiet slurping of fish echoing off the lake.
  2. i always have my best luck on olive buggers #6 but for dry i rarely use anything other than small humpys. Have fun the high alpine lakes have been amazing lately.
  3. wowzers man that is a one long fish! well done.
  4. judging from some of your recent pictures the trout have blessed your line with many thanks.
  5. It is insane i drove over the river last weekend and it was a solid WALL of rafts as far as i could see probably 200 and came back 2 hrs later still the same it is actually a pretty unbelivable sight. Thank goodness the lower bow is not popular for recreational floating.
  6. Mybe the staff in the office give that impression but i talked the Park CO directly and he said he was absolutely fine with going outside the park as long as it was confirmed the CO for the area was to busy to make the call.
  7. You can call the CO's in fish creek park! If they arent busy they will respond! When you call RAP if the location is not in the park they do not call the park CO's however i have talked with the CO's in FCP and they have no problem with responding if they aren't busy. Call the FCP office and if you don't get an answer LEAVE A MESSAGE they check it every 30min. they told be they have no issue with going as far south as the extender bridge also they like to get licence plate numbers to watch for them in the park.
  8. screwed and glued! Mike Holmes would be proud.Nice build mike looks great
  9. Sorry don't mean to hijack but does anyone know if the stonefly's have started to emerge yet? Anyone having luck with stones on the BOW?
  10. miscommunication in my post i wasn't reserving the spot just trying to get the guy to move up stream a little he wasn't understanding the whole keep a little distance so i can move up he was casting a spin rig getting it way out there and then swinging lures into the run i was waiting to fish IMO 150yrds up and keep moving is proper......sooo no vancouver you can not reserve a run but you can expect people to give you a little room to fish sorry if i wasn't clear cuz after re reading i wasnt and left out some points.
  11. i generaly dont bump into anyone but the other night i was on some new water and these guys come down the bank behind me and ask how it's been and i say i havent fished yet im waiting for the dryfly to start on this run one of them step in front of me and get set to fish the run i say excuse me! you can find somewhere else to fish im going to fish here he says but we fish here every night i say not tonight you dont. move on buddy and dont even think about hittin the hole above me i have a buddy joining me in 10 min and hes going to jump in there. the guy says if the waters open buddy its open! i say well i just let you know as politely as i know how it isnt open its TAKEN! look man its called river etiquette. his friend finnaly said no worries we will go a ways up. They did. It blew my mind i've had people get in beside me and whatever i ussually say hi and start to fish with them but i have NEVER had some one step in directly infront of me.

  15. Caught this picture just as the fish tride to flop thought it was cool. Nice rainbow on the stone the rainbows have been putting up an amazing fight going ariel like i've never seen i love Bow River Rainbows amazing fish Rick with a monster brown from our float. His fish were almost all this quality he had a great day and many more brutes to hand. This was my pig of the weekend this guy seriously challenged my drag it was one of those moments when you hook up the fish goes ariel and everyone screams at the same time WHOA! huge fish and your buddies runnin for the net and trying to get a camera ready at the same time. I was lucky to land this one and get a picture. To often for me this situation ends when the fish is three feet off the bank and everyone screams in unison OHH CRAP! well you got him close. The lost fish haunt my dreams.... And finally Rick bending his rod on one of his many Brute fish....haha i said rick bending his rod.
  16. Who is that handsome devil !? ..... wait! is that ... Yes it is.... the FFC eye candy! Nice pictures rick. It was a lot of fun i too was sore the next morning i've had 11 hrs of sleep in the last couple days I need to get some beauty rest i think i'm taking tomorrow off the river. FNG not my BVK the BVK will be my bow river dryfly rod had it out a couple times it is a sweeet stick.
  17. let me know if you need to do the whole roof and not just the skylights. The company i work for sprays roofing foam and installs membrane and we can go over the old roof with very little removal. It's not cheep but it's not gonna cost a fortune and you'll add some insulation to the roof and the system we use is good for 50 yrs.
  18. make sure if you camp on the islands to clean up and if you make a fire pit to unmake it before you leave. thanks! camped a lot on the islands when i was a kid it is my understanding that all islands are public.

  21. Thats what im saying everyone i know who hunts them uses dogs it my understanding that it is near impossible to hunt them without they know your coming before you tie your boots on in the morning is kind of how it was explained to me i think without dogs you would need some sort of bait to bring them to you even then i think they would be to leary to fall for a bait trap Cougars aren't dumb.
  22. Can you hunt Cougars without dogs? If so can you use bait.
  23. ha ha i could watch these guys nod for hrs.
