J, I find whities tend to hit indicators quite often, so if there wasn't other "consistantly" rising fish, you could have probably kept on nymphing (they like the pink & orange indicators, it seems)... In regards to you foul hooking the Rainbow... How much tippet was between your flies? One of the reasons why fish get fouled with multiple nymph rigs is because there is not enough distance between the flies... Make sure you have at least 16" - 18" between your flies... He probably went for your first fly (or was hooked on your 1st fly) and spit the hook and then got tagged in the tail with your 2nd (or 3rd - if you were using a 3 nymph rig). And when you set, set it like you mean it (if you ever see rickr on the water - you'll know who he is as his hook sets scare the $hit out of you!! LoL - Hawgstoppah taught him well!)! I too could use a harder hook set!! So yeah, set it like you are going to make a 60 foot cast behind you!! Hope that helps! Cheers, Peter

Nomad, Hawgstoppah and I were down at Policemen's Flats last night and Hawg hooked a fish that I'm 100% sure has been posted before and I cannot find the photo... It was a Rainbow with a deformed rounded snubbed nose... Does anyone know where this post/photo is on here?! Thanks, Peter

I have to agree with Tungsten, If it's a "med action" rod (read - softer) as I presume the TFO Signiture Series is, then DO NOT over line it (for the most part) and stay with a Rio Gold (standard type line) SA Trout, etc. MY personal pref. is to over line ("slightly" with a GPX/Grand) for fast action rods (but again, that's MY pref. - your csting style may dictate otherwise)... If you can go to a shop like Fishtales or Country Pleasures (maybe a few other spondsor shops or others) that have reels already lined up, and try them on your rod with your casting style! P

Marc, That's what I figured, but if the hoards are going to be swimming through like predicted I'm not sure what the chances are that we'd foul them... Hopefully the dry fly action will be on so we won't have to worry!! P

Heading to fish the Adams River and Scotch Creek again for Labor Day w/e. It's supposed to be epic this year (previous years were still pretty cool, even though the main run isn't until Oct most years)... Of course we won't be targeting Sockeyes and I'm not experienced enough to know if we will hook any while fishing for those Kootnay Rainbows (hope not)?! P

I remember when we were younger, my twin bro and I were up at Taylor Lake in BNP and as we were traversing the cliff on the trail to to the back of the lake to go fish the falls, he chucked his spinner in and hooked a cutty (we were over 10' up and couldn't get down!!). Can't quite remember what we did as we couldn't climb down the cliff!! I think it was small enough that he pulled it up, which would have meant that he chucked it back or we kept it (we were teens, what can I say - young and naive!!)... P

Dustin, Great photos, looks like it was a great trip! Also, it looks like you caught quite a few on a spoon (not meant to flame you). What was the ratio spoon to fly and what flies were they taking (sinking or floating line)? P

I've had a "carve and cast" day - Skiing/Boarding @ Sunshine and then fishing "Spring Creek" outside of Canmore! P

My Patagonia Riverwalkers lastest 3 years before the rubber on the toe cracked and I got greedy with their warrantee (still totally wearable, but decided I'd send them in to see if they would replace them. They did, except they didn't have any in stock at the CDN warehouse so gave me a credit instead ). Bought a pair of Korker Guides and so far so good (not as comfy as the Pati's, however - only about 3 months on them, thus far). I hope they last as long, but I doubt they will from what I've read/heard. Depending on how long they last, etc., my next pair might be either the Simms or another pair of the Patagonia River Walkers... I have a VERY narrow foot (even with neo feet) so I'm not sure of the Simms and I was suprized that the Korkers even fit (it takes me forever to tighten the boa system on them). P

Don't forget all the controversy b/c the boxes are now manufactured off shore in sweat shops some where in Asia!!
