  1. Nice ties and photos!
  2. From (now) Harvie Passage (previously the W.H.D. Weir - is the boundry). Open all year. Down to Caresland weir. from the Western Headworks Diversion (W.H.D.) Weir downstream to the Carseland Weir (includes 500 m of the Highwood River and the 3 Carburn Park Ponds) but excluding all waters in the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary (see Inglewood Bird Sanctuary) – Open all year. So you are good! http://www.albertaregulations.ca/fishingregs/es1.html
  3. Use the search feature and ye shall find!!
  4. Save it until you need something!
  5. What do you need?! Prioritize!
  6. x 2!
  7. The equipment they use for a 10 day trip (with the mileage they covered) is not the best choice... Tents seemed ok (donated by the sponsors), but the other gear, there are better - lighter, more compact, etc.)... A guitar?! only one guy had a set of hiking poles! And food (other then the freeze dried stuff) was heavy/bulky... Clothing they used (not the 2 younger guys, from what I remember) but the hippy guy was horrible (jeans!! button up shirt, hoodies - sheesh!) What they used obviously worked, but it could have been way more "efficient". Just my opinion!
  8. Really cool adventure... The guys definitely don't have a lot of experience backpacking, though... P
  9. Al, I hear a lot of folks are happy with Maui Jim's for their Rx Sunglass needs...
  10. Jared If you are on photo bucket just copy the link listed under the "direct" link option! Easy peasy!
  11. Al, You try the online vendors (TireRack, etc.)?
  12. Nice! A pawn shop in the NW had (has) an LX3.2 with an extra spool ($450) that I have been watching for a while now...I'm sure one could get them down in price as it's been there for a while!! Contimplating it, but don't like the Gold colour!!
  13. As I mentioned, I add beads to my (wire) SJWs for the Bow. The weight allows me to fish ~8' + of water in moderate current, no problem. No need to add spilt shot! P
  14. Murray, Seems fine, no difference! I just "offset" the hook slightly, nothing too drastic... If I remember correctly, I learned of this from Max... P
  15. I use the same as Murray and with the same rationale (2 different gage wires, depending on the body of water - I will also add a beadhead with the large gage for the bow)... The only difference is that I bend the hook slightly to one side and that way it doesn't poke the fish's eyes out... P
  16. Roger that, Al! Bow River Troutfitters!
  17. Al I have 2 on order (a 7'6 3 wt, and a 7' 2 wt). I'll let you know what they are Iike in a week or so... ;-) P
  18. One word... "Awesome"!! But hot in the summer so I also have some simms wading pants.
  19. Well, as you know you can't fish directly below the dam... Fishing is prohibited by any method within 25 yards (22.86 m) downstream of the lower entrance of any fishway, canal, obstacle or leap. Weirs and dams are considered obstacles. But there are fish to be had, just too many dogs and floaters during the summer months on that part of the Elbow for most...
  20. Awesome Al! Deb and I will stop by!! And we'll try to convince Gil to be your neighbor and contribute to his effort!!
  21. That being said, not all guides are created equal (especially in Calgary where anyone and their dog can put out a shingle and call themselves a "guide"). If you go the route of hiring a guide (which I also suggest you do), do your due diligence and research someone that can actually help you out with what you are looking for!!
