Also kudos to:
Redington (replaced my CPS twice - soon to be 3 times after I broke various section, guides, etc).
Patagonia - a variety of items for repair or replacement (no questions asked)!
MEC - a variety of items for repair or replacement (no questions asked)!
Flyslinger...
Some great info with your response... One question however... How does one "try" various lines without dropping a wad of cash?! Buying a line just to try would get very expensive, especially when you can't really return them! Do fly shops have a bunch of reels loaded with different lines?!

I had always used the large size (1") without any problems, especially when using a triple rig with a very heavy SJW. Then I switched to the medium size (3/4") and was surprised that it works great with the same heavy rig!! I would use the large in very fast water, from now on and stick with the medium for everything else.

I'm not sure on the "shortness" of the taper of either of these lines, but SA GPX and Head Start both are a half a wt heavier. I was looking at a rio line (the trout specific line - I think) and it had quite a short taper, (but not the 1/2 wt heavier).
Hope this info helped...

I'd have to disagree with the camp (where you want), hunt, live off the land part of that. . Just my opinion though... Potentially huge problems with that, as well (with the many irresponsible types - which unfortunately is quite a few)!!

Welcome HB (and friend)!
You get all that right here (though you'll have to practice on your own or come out with someone on the board)! We're a wealth of knowledge and information (and we try to have a little fun inbetween)!
Tight lines!
Cheers,
Peter
Hence my previous comment about being 50 - 100 years too late . There should never have been a town in BNP, that's what screwed things up in the first place!

Received my new Brodin net bag in today's mail... Anyone ever restring a net?! I guess I require 30# dacron, but only a few metres... Anyone have some kicking around?! Preferably dark green/black?!
Thanks,
Peter
Personally, I wouldn't go super cheap... Both Sage FLi and Redington CPS are on sale due to model changes ($200 - $250ish). TFO's are a decent rod and you are able to get replacement parts locally which is a bonus, but are a little heavy for my liking (I have both a TFO 6 wt and CPS 5 wt - and LOVE the CPS!!). 6wt is a great all rounder. As important is a reel and there are way too many to choose from... Definitely go with a Large arbor. Casting class is a great reco or a day out with a guide on a walk and wade...
Tight lines and we'll see you on the water
Peter
