  1. Another good material for the wing case is Wapsi Thin Skin. The colurs I prefer are "mottled oak - golden stone" and "mottle oak - natural" (numbers TSK0121 and TSK0199 respectively.) Very nice ties Mitchell and SD. Terry
  2. And here I thought I had the only remaining container of Overton's. Unlike you though, my single container has lasted me about 25 years, and it's only 1/3 gone. At the current pace it'll last till I'm 116. Terry PS mine still has the price sticker on it -- $4.95 at the Fishin Hole.
  3. Hey Clive, isn't there a TV program about DIY guys like you? Terry
  4. I've used Montana Shipping -- specifically the depot in Eureka, Montana, and it's a great service. Perhaps not too convenient for Calgarians, but if you make the trip down in the summer, there's lots of good fishing along the way. As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather spend a few bucks on gas than get ripped off by UPS. Oh, and if you go to Eureka, stop in for lunch at Cafe Jax, just a few doors north of Montana Shipping. It's a great old time diner, and the food is great. Terry
  5. Pick up a starling skin -- the hackle is good to for tying small soft hackles. Terry
  6. Here's my fav for April on the Crow -- can't wait for that. Terry
  7. Hey Andrew, Clive -- show some respect for your elders eh. Gotta go shovel more snow -- sigh. Let's hope it doesn't melt all at once, or we're gong to have one hell of a runoff this year. Terry
  8. Thanks guys -- had a great birthday weekend. We've got a full on blizzard going here right now, and it sure makes one wonder if this friggin winter is ever going to end. I need to get out on the water -- WFN isn't doing it for me any more. Terry
  9. In addition to a sonar mount, two things that I'll always want on my pontoon are : and oar rests.
  10. Simple answer -- Gary Bettman was there.
  11. Also, the Pentax W100's are coming out soon, so the W90's have been discontinued and will be on sale at most places.
  12. Get yourself a couple of these -- a lot cheaper for sure.
  13. Crowsnest River Hatch Chart
  14. Count me with the NO's. For me, it never was about saving money. Probably 95% of the flies in my flyboxes are not available in any fly shop. The reason I tie my own flies is quite simple -- I get exactly what I want. Besides, what else is there to do during a cold Alberta winter? Terry
  15. from Fly Fisherman magazine, 2011 Gear Guide Issue.
  16. Why should I let you know what I'm going to do? Terry
  17. A good source for fishy prints is: Allposters Just do a search on "trout" or whatever fish type you're interested in, and you'll find lots of interesting stuff. PS: BBT, your desk is too neat -- that's a sign of an idle mind.
  18. Nice fly. I tie a similar pattern and always use a dubbing loop. The simi-seal is tough stuff to deal with, but I think the loop helps somewhat and certainly makes for a more durable fly. Terry
  19. 2010 was my best year ever. Fly fishing is like good wine -- it just gets better with age. Terry
  20. Just so you'll know for next time (hope there isn't one), you can still buy licenses from any shop that has the equipment, i.e. it's not all done online. More important though, you don't need to buy a new license, you just need a reprint. It costs $2. Terry
  21. I too prefer parachutes over the traditional style. However, add my vote in favour of comparaduns and sparkle duns. They're the easiest of all to tie, don't require expensive dry fly hackle -- just get some good coastal deer hair -- and best of all they work exceptionally well. Terry
  22. What's to rub in. This is the way I see it. Oilers -- a young fast team that's fun to watch and are improving as the season goes on. Flames -- an old team that's boring to watch and are getting worse as the season goes on.
  23. Do you know what extrusion means? Get ready to find out. Terry
  24. It's going to be cold out there in that dog house tonight. I feel for ya Don. Terry PS nice planes!
  25. We've never met, but I sure have spent a lot of time watching your fly tying videos and I have a shadow box on my wall with a parachute adams that you tied -- so I feel I almost know you. Have a very Happy Birthday. Terry
