And don't waste money buying a portable unit. Make yourself a holder, or buy one ( Scotty fish finder mounts ), and then get yourself a gell-cell battery that you can keep in one of the saddlebags on your float tube or pontoon. Terry

I'd rephrase that -- one of those teams might make the playoffs. And I'd add another difference -- one of those teams is going to get a top three pick.. Terry -

We're all hoping. How many more times does Carolina play Toronna? Only three more points by Carolina, and we've got 30th place locked up. Then bring on the draft. Terry -
I've just used a beading needle when tying extended foam bodies on stonefly and hopper patterns. The Renzetti pins look like they might work better for smaller stuff like mayflies. Anyway, for those who are interested, there's an article on using the Renzetti pins in the current (i.e. Winter 2009) edition of Fly Tyer magazine. Terry

No, we Oilers fans are still here. We're quiet, because it doesn't look like anything good is going to happen (Oilerswise) until the draft. Terry PS The Oilers do know how to throw a New Year's party though. However, they have this problem, both off and on the ice, that they don't want to "pay the price." -
I came across this cool video on another site. Each yellow dot represents one aircraft. The video shows a full 24 our period. Note how the traffic levels change as daylight arrives in Europe and then North America. When you see the huge number of aricraft in the air at any one time, it adds some perspective on the risk of flying. How about a $4/L carbon tax on gasoline. Think of all the $'s we could raise to help stop CO2 emissions and global warming. Terry

Folks, let's not forgot what wind chill means. If the ambient temperature is -30C, and the wind chill is reported as -40C, a body will cool until it reaches equilibrium at -30C (not -40C). The fact that there is a wind, just increases the rate at which the body cools, but not the equilibrium temperature. So if we need -40C to kill pine beetles, then the ambient temperature must be -40C. End of lecture. Terry

I wasn't trying to hide anything. Anyone who watched or listened to the debate would figure that part out. BTW, as far as the Munk debate resolution is concerned, the good guys (i.e. my side) were the Con side. Terry -

I barfed all over my keyboard -- thanks Allan. When I see communications like this, my BS detectors go off and I immediately become sceptical (actually, I already was sceptical). I read a few days ago, that the Brazilian delegation to Hopenhagen will number 700. Wow, sounds like some party. I wonder what their carbon footprint looks like. You can always count on the greenies to outdo themselves in the hypocrisy department. Terry -

I have to admit that I don't understand what your point is. Nevertheless, if you understand the purpose of a debate, then maybe you can understand this "metric" for deciding who won. In the specific case of this Munk Debate, the audience was polled both before and after the debate. Prior to the debate, the positions held were Pro 61%, Con 39%. After hearing the debate, the positions were Pro 53%, Con 47%. It appears to me that the Con side was the most persuasive. The fact that the audience had a preponderance of "believers" (at least before hearing the debate) is surely irrelevant when judging the arguments made during the debate. The winner is surely the side that changed the most minds. If one wants to determine the winner by the final poll, then to be fair, one would have to ensure a 50/50 distribution before the debate. Otherwise, it's like starting a baseball, hockey, or football game with a score other than 0-0. Terry -
