  1. You forgot the other two key parts of the strategy. 1. Don't do anything to improve the PP after 7 games of PP scoring failure. Thus when you get a PP chance in the last 3 minutes of a tie game, you can pee away the opportunity. 2. Take a penalty in overtime to cinch the loss.
  2. You think that looks good, try this. Terry

    Goodbye

Gary, I'm very sorry to learn about your Dad. My thoughts are with you. Terry
  4. Interesting -- Montreal is in 5th place with 77 points and the coach gets canned because the team doesn't seem to be motivated when it comes to important games. The Oilers who are in 7th place with 70 points suffer exactly the same disease. However, it would appear the coach has a life-time appointment. Breaking news: Brent Sutter wants to be closer to his Alberta ranch. Is Edmonton close enough?
  5. My thoughts on the Oilers performance last night. Terry
  6. Suntoucher, I'm in let's-wait-and-see mode as far as this trade is concerned. Like you, I'm sorry to see Cole go, but I don't think anyone thought the Oilers would be able to sign him this summer. He never even sold his house in Carolina. The best I can say is that the trade changes some things and maybe will wake up some of the "plugs." Also, if I understand things correctly, all the Oilers gave up in the end, was Cole. LA sent O'Sullivan and a 2nd round pick to Carolina, who then sent both to the Oilers in exchange for Cole. The Oilers then sent the 2nd round pick to Buffalo for Kotalik. I hope Kotalik and O'Sullivan can hook up with the Oilers for tomorrow's game -- anxious to get a look at them both. Terry
  7. The guys that do the Backroad Mapbooks, also published a series of "Fishing BC" books, one for each of the following regions: Okanogan, Kootenays, Thompson-Nicola, and Cariboo. Of course the Mapbooks themselves have a lot of fishing information, in addition to other recreational info. Their website is www.backroadmapbooks.com. These books are not on a par with the Trout Highway book -- more like the AFG, but they are very worthwhile having. Terry
  8. Thanks everyone -- had a great day, and it's always nice to make it through another year. BBT -- don't worry about me, the Oilers and Eskimos have provided me more than a lifetime worth of Cups. Based on the current pace, a Calgary fan would have to live to 518 to see as many from their teams. Alan -- I'd have fired MacT a month or two ago when Tortarello (sp?) was available. Monger -- Not sure what AGFT means, but if Clive and Alan are members then I think I want to join. I'll be watching the mail Alan. . Terry
  9. Don't think so. Terry PS sorry Clive.
  10. All this nostalgia for old patterns reminds me of the old Sportsman Cigarette package which featured photos of flies and some of the publications from that company which had displays of classic flies. The following website has some info on this. Terry http://www.sportsmanfly.com/book-SAC.htm
  11. The best tool of all for tying nail knots (and the cheapest too), is an inflating needle. Just cut (be careful not to crimp the tube) or file off the business end and you have exactly the right size tube that works better than a nail, and IMHO, better than all the nail knot tools you can buy. Terry
  12. Did the Oilers play last night???? And BTW Chris, when were the Flames glory years -- or should I say year. Terry

  14. Yes, and you can buy a big roll (i.e. wrapping paper size) of the same stuff at places like Michael's and Hallmark's. It's often used for wrapping gift baskets. However, it's useful for a lot of fly tying applications (e.g. wings on flying ants), and one roll will be enough for ten lifetimes' worth of tying. Terry
  15. I think those aquaseal smears give your waders character . Even if you don't agree with me on that, patching on the outside is somewhat better for the same reason it's better to patch a foundation leak from the outside. You want the hydrostatic pressure pushing the patch against the waders (outside) rather than trying to push the patch off the waders (inside). My 2 cents worth, Terry.

Heh Gary, I don't see any ice or snow in the picture -- where are you fishing these days?? Terry
  17. Is that his autobiography?? Sorry, not a big Garth Turner fan. Anyway, the tulip bulb bubble back in the 1600's is an interesting lesson in greed that still hasn't been learned (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tulip_mania). Terry
  18. Didn't know about sea kittens? Check this out. Sea Kittens
  19. Yes, that's why they try to avoid general anaesthesia when possible. I had some hip replacements done a few years ago, and rather than a GA, they give you a local spinal anaesthetic. Then they dose you up with sedatives (happy juice of some kind) so you don't give a sheet while they're cutting and chopping with the saws and chisels. Worked like a damn. I'd post a picture of my scars, but you don't want to see them . Terry
  20. You ate the rope??
  21. Stimulus Canada Application Form PS You'll need to enlarge the form in order to be able to read it. Once opened, put the cursor over the form and left-click.
  22. Heard a good mother-in-law joke on the radio this morning. Two guys in the bar are talking about their mothers-in-law. First guy says, "my mother-in-law is an angel." Second guy replies, "you're lucky, my mother-in-law is still alive." Terry
  23. I drove by Leitch Colleries yesterday, and the river was almost frozen over -- only a small channel of open water. Not sure what it's like at Burmis, but my guess it closing in there too. Oh well, I guess it'll have to be spring solstice. Terry
  24. I've got family visiting this weekend, so I'm afraid I'll be passing on the fishout. Sorry, no hot dogs this year. Terry
