  1. Very encouraging -- let's hope it has some influence on fisheries management. Terry
  2. My VPS 590-2 was my go to rod for years -- I still use it a lot and love it. It's stood up well to a lot of abuse. That's not a bad price either. Terry

  9. I'm pretty sure I know the lake -- I'd recognize those gorgeous rainbows anytime. I saw a scads of those little frogs (about 3/4" - 1" body) there two weeks ago, and although I watched many of them swimming around, I never saw any taken by fish. It did occur to me though, that they would make a nice mouthfull for a hungry fish, and I have already done some thinking about a fly -- something along the lines of a simple brown sandwich foam body with some knotted rubber legs. Congrats on the trifecta. If I've got the right lake, the brookies are few and far between -- I've only caught one there in two years. However, I did see a pod of brookies in full spawning colours cruising the shore yesterday. Terry
  10. Oh really -- where did you get those facts?? Ok, send me yours -- I like money. Terry
  11. With the winds that are forecast for tomorrow, all the BWO's will be in Lethbridge by noon. :D
  12. ricinius, PGK: You guys want to see a real market crash -- elect Prime Minister Layton or Prime Minister Dion. Better yet, don't. Ok, and now I have to go and vote for the good guys. :) Terry

  14. Yeh right, Prime Minister Jack Layton .................arrrrrrrrggggggghhhhhh!!!! Montana, here I come. Terry
  15. Please explain where this happened? Among the major countries that seriously tried socialism are the USSR and China. The USSR doesn't exist as such anymore, and what's left is a basket case. The economic gains in China have all occurred since they allowed individual initiative (i.e. capitalism) to exist. I'm not sure where you're getting your information, but let's not just make stuff up. Terry
  16. I'm working on it. Terry
  17. Ah yes, I love turkey, and I got more than my share yesterday. Here are a few of the wild kind that came through our yard a few weeks ago. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Terry
  18. Check this out http://www.riverbum.com/2020-Magnetic-Tippet-Threader/ Terry
  19. After years of seeing my leader and tippet spontaneously form knots and tangles, the answer is now available in the following link. Terry Spontaneous knotting of an agitated string
  20. Most of Tiemco's hooks are now available in barbless. They are indicated by "BL" appended to the usual hook number (e.g. TMC100BL, TMC2457BL, TMC2487BL, TMC200RBL etc.). I'm not sure if the Calgary shops are stocking them instead of the corresponding barbed hooks, but it makes sense that they should. Terry
  21. I'm more worried about the Black Hole we'll all get sucked into if Stephan Dion ever gets to implement his carbon tax. Terry
  22. That's absolute nonsense. As others have pointed out, you can't buy a license if you don't have a paid up WIN number. Furthermore, you don't even need to have the card when you buy your license. The vendor can do a search to get your number, and if it's paid up, you can then purchase a license. In addition, it's possible that you buy your license on a given day and have your WIN card expire the next day. The license is still vailid, but you'll need to renew the WIN card before you can buy a license the next year. So what would the CO have done if you showed him an expired WIN card? It's too bad these things happen, because the last thing we need is confusion about fishing regulations being generated by the very people who are charged with enforcing regulations. Terry
  23. You know you're getting older, when happy hour is a nap. Terry
  24. Well I guess the answer depends on who you talk to in the BC government. Bottom line, based on MKM's experience, I guess is to assume you can't buy a CW license at a store if you bought your basic license online. Governments work in weird ways. Terry
  25. I don't remember exactly when I became aware of the change, but it was probably about a month ago. I learned about it at an Alberta flyshop that sells BC licenses, and they had actually confirmed the change by phoning the BC government. I'm not sure what the BC government has done to inform dealers of the change, but from your experience, it sounds like not much. The reality is that there never was a good reason to not sell a CW license to someone with an online purchased regular license. Terry
