  1. Actually, both my life experience and my fishing experience lead me to believe it's the other way round. If a fish mind can be tricked, what chance does a poor human have? Terry
  2. The news about Police Outpost is great -- I'll be spending some time there next spring for sure. Beyond that, I think it is outstanding that SRD has heard the voice of reason from the "quality fishery" crowd. This is an incremental process, and I think ADC, dryfly, and all the others who moved this proposal along, have taken a step that goes well beyond Police Outpost. Thanks very much guys. Terry
  3. You have to be as old as Clive to know how old that joke is . It's still a good laugh though. Terry
  4. Yes, but now you can boycott online. Terry

LS, we had wheels on the 'toons as well (don't think you could do it otherwise). Even so, on the steep streches, we also had to do the push-pull two man thing. Never again -- next time I'll back pack a tube. BTW, to make matters worse, it was really windy and the fishing sucked the day we went. Terry PS sorry everyone for the attempted hijack .
  6. Sage all the way. My go to rod for years has been a 5wt VPS -- moved up to z-axis this year, in both 3wt and 5wt -- love em both. Terry
  7. What's the matter with too loud? My favourite sound is BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ -- BZZZZZZZZ--BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ--BZZZZ--BZZZZZ--BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. The louder the better. I voted Islander btw. Terry

My God LS, I assumed my friend and I were the only people dumb enough to drag a pontoon boat up to Bear Pond! I thought my lungs were going to burst, I was sucking air so hard by the time we got to the lake. Here's the proof though, that we did it. Here's a favourite of mine, since it reminds me that spring is only a few months away -- taken last spring on the way down to the Silver Bridge. Finally, I like this one just for the colours -- a nice Crowsnest rainbow headed back into the river. Terry
  9. I currently use an Ott-lite. However, when I used to have a little more swing space at my tying desk, I used a fluorescent swing arm desk lamp -- sort of the fluorescent version of the light Pacres posted. After a little poking around I was able to get some full spectrum 18" tubes for it. I believe it was Robinson Light and Bath that ordered them for me. This was the best arrangement, since I could put the lamp high enough not to get in the way. I find the Ott-lite does tend to get in the way when I'm tying, but it does provide very good light. My 2 cents, Terry
  10. Fas Gas Plus is run by Parkland Income Fund, and like most independents, they get their gas from local major refineries. See the following excerpt from their 2006 Annual Report. In other words, it's all the same stuff. And no, I don't work for them. Terry A key success factor for Parkland is our ability to have secure sources of fuel supply at competitive prices. Parkland continues to enjoy strong relationships with all three major refiners in Western Canada. We work closely with our supply partners to ensure that all contractual obligations are met or exceeded. Parkland maintains lifting rights at most western refineries and primary terminals which provide maximum flexibility to best serve our customers. In 2006 we worked diligently to ensure that Parkland met new regulatory requirements by the Canadian government for Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel as well as the introduction of Ethanol Blended Fuel in Saskatchewan.
  11. A very Merry Christmas to everyone -- have a great time with your family and friends over the holidays, and get ready for a fabulous New Year. Terry
  12. I'm showing my age here by confessing to being a Gordon Lightfoot fan -- I still have a ton of his records (remember what those are?). There's no doubt in my mind, the best video is Lightfoot's -- he wrote the song and he knows how it's supposed to be sung. Terry
  13. Man, that was tough. Great ties everyone. Dr. BT, maybe you should put a note at the end of your first post, indicating there are more choices to come in the next post. I made the mistake of voting without seeing the flies in the second post. Terry
  14. If I had known you could be bought so easily (should've guessed), I'd have offered up some free flies right from the getgo. Terry
  15. Here's my entry. I tied them up last summer, so I hope I've got the recipe right. Terry Hook: TMC 2487 #10 Thread: Black 6/0 Bead: 1/8” Black Tail & Beard: Dark Brown India hen Back: Wapsi Thin Skin, Mottled Oak Olive Abdomen: Olive Brown Ice Dub Rib: Olive UTC Ultra Wire Thorax: Peacock herl
  16. Colin, what did you use for the wheels on the rod supports? Nice job btw. Terry
  17. Happy Birthday Gary -- have a good one. Terry
  18. Do we take that as a wedding invitation for everyone on the board? Congrats by the way, Terry
  19. Clive, you missed your chance. This pair was for sale on Ebay. However, I guess 35" waist doesn't qualify as "mature fit." Yeah, I remember red straps -- you needed a long stemmed comb and lots of Brylcream to complete the picture. Terry
  20. I've got my new high tech long johns from MEC and two Cohibas that I've been saving, so I'm ready to go -- either day, or both. Terry
  21. I caught this fish in the Crowsnest River, upstream of the falls, on Saturday. It sure looks like a Cutthroat to me, but it didn't have the red slash on the throat. So, the logical (?) conclusion is that it was a Cuttbow. However, it seems to me that any other Cuttbows I've caught had rainbow markings on the side, but also, the red slash on the throat. This one seems to be the other way around. What gives? Terry
  22. As I understand it, the increased funding is for ACA projects (see their website for info http://www.ab-conservation.com/ ). While the ACA projects are in my view all worthwhile and I am happy to help pay for them through my license fees, most are not likely to have any direct impact on our fishing experience. In addition to the ACA levy increase, I would like to see another $5 (or more) tacked on to hire more fishcops. Better still, in addition, increase the fees for non-resident licenses. Terry
  23. What have your got against Nana Mouskouri??? Terry
  24. Here's a tip that I learned from Vic at the Crowsnest Angler. Forget the fancy knot tying tools or even the traditional nail. Go to Crappy Tire and get one of those inflating needles used for inflating basket balls etc. File off the business end and you have the perfect sized tube for tying a nail knot. Makes tying nail knots a piece of cake. Terry
