Bow River Adventures Bringing Bob Meiser To Town
dutchie replied to dutchie's topic in Spey Casters Lounge
ladystrange '' just a bunch of ''hen talk'' as you ladys call it , only a rumour , i'm sure the Meiz would of called me or doc to let us know it firsthand , not only that his rep from B.C flying in also for the party "Henry" , then after i promised henry's wife to put her onto a few big browns for 2 days of floating , she's caught lots of big fish , just not a nice brown so just to let you know and everyone else , it's still a go and it will be a great time , -
i'd say your 100% correct on getting out the first few times with someone who can teach you so you don't get into bad habits that will be harder to break from , i paid for some lesson to get started and very well worth the money , don't make much sense to spend all that money on rods & reels and can't get em to do what they were meant to do my first few times i went with calgarys own '' toolman'' Greg , it was the little things that i learned from him that would of took years to figure out , everything from learning the proper way to hold the running line in your fingers so it rolls off nice when throwing some distance , makes it that much more enjoyable when you put it where you want it , i guess it's sorta like golfing , the little things is what really counts , i would highly suggest to all to look up Greg as he's dame good and your money will be well spent for starting out , and the best is he won't break your wallet or just be after your money like some do , i'll just leave it at that , birchy & cheeler , the doc has got a cold this weekend , we will try a evening later on in the week to get out so you can try some of meiz's rods
-
I would like to try that S series, let me know where and when. Thanks Doug doug at last , back now from that turbine job , and back from idaho picking up my new ride , someday this week in the evening if you want to hookup and try the ''S'' rod , let me know , Birchy '' you might want to come also and i'll bring 3 or 4 Meiser rods for ya to try out dutchie

don thats wild , thanks for showing me that video , i'm lucky to be alive , i don't know how many times i have took a torch to lug nuts to get em unseized , scary seeing that and knowing it can happen without any warning , i seen a tire blow up with the old split rims , broke the guys arm in 2 places ,

i took allot hits and shots from some yankee's , i tried to suck this guy in on a good bet , rod for rod with flags on them , he didn't have the balls to bet , so the ol Meiz step up to bat on behalf of the usa team for the bet , he called me out , i also got some red white blue spey flies coming my way , should be nice , here's a good post to read boys http://speypages.com/speyclave/showthread.php?t=39055

holly *hit the best canadian hockey player beat the best player on the usa team to win it for us , that was a nail biter for sure , i need or better feel like getting drunk after that game , few more days up north here and then 'll be back fishing and home , life is really good , i had allot bet on todays game , i have a custom built Mesier rod coming on a bet , it is to be wraped in canadian red & white , and also now ''gold'' wraps , i thought i lost it all when 30 seconds left , i was even on google looking for that 23 year old black maple hills rye and a special flask , when i get the rod with the canadian colours on it , i'll post it so you can all see it , i'm going to use a 1912 4 inch wide drum perfect on it this fall while chaseing steelhead rickr get that bottle and have a sip on me , was a good game and best 2 teams made it , both deserve gold for that game dutchie
-
holly *hit , i need that drink now ricky , heck with who wins , i can't take this anymore , 4 on 4
-
rickr almost game time now , lets make the bottle a 26 size , and i just hope it's a good game , and may the best team win ricky , i said from the very start if canada couldn't win gold then i want my brothers to the south to win , so i'm ok really on who ever wins , they both played good hockey and they both deserve to be in the gold medal game , glad russia , germany , and swed's didn't win should be good , i have also a wicked good bet on with the Meiz himself , so i'm a little jumpy today and my nerves are on edge , thank god i'm not at the game or someone i know playing all them players on both teams must be nervous GO CANADA , GO CANADA , GO CANADA , GOLD ALL THE WAY
-
poison for myself rick , my taste buds crave crown royal limited edition , 26 or a 40 , i'll leave you to say the size for us , tell me your poison and don't say some $300 dollar bottle of wine or scotch , has to be the same value give or take a few bucks , i know you guys from the states have expensive taste in your drinks , but lets keep this within reason as i already have a few other bets on the game with some yankee's tell me your choice of poison , not like i really need to know anyway , LOL
-
rickr However, look out if we win the hockey game! i hear ya ricky , your alright and i know you love your team and country deep deep down inside you , the big ? is do you feel love deep enough to put a bottle on the gold medal game , or you just talking some more smack i'm just trying to bait you in rick
-
rickr All that said-hope you guys choke Sunday!! i was starting to like you , now i know i hate you , i hope you choke on your eggs sunday morning , only joking of course , just make sure you have a box of klenex to wipe your tears away sunday ricky i have faith in the boys , i think last time we was both in a gold game , was on your home turf , and i seem to remember usa blowing it , what makes you so sure they won't again and rickr any chance you'd put a nice bottle of crown on the final gold medal game in a friendly bet , say a 26 or 40 , my bottle is getting a wee bit low and i'll be home next week , would be nice to swing by and pick up one from ya

dutchie replied to DonAndersen's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
yes sir , thats what we need , should just grab a sign and run it down to the oldman country , put a good scare into them river runners befor spring time -
doug , if everything goes good , i should be home next week , maybe we can talk the doc into going with us
-
YES YES YES
-
i have a brand new Meiser highlander classic in a 456 , a custom built job it's '' Doc's favorite Meiser rod '' that i'll let you test drive , i should be home next week if all goes good , email me and i'll hook up with you and we might as well just go fishing for the day , also have the ''S'' rod in 13ft , 7 wt , a really nice underhand stick if you want to try it also
-
uncouth" to use wet fly's hell no , i love em , use them correctly and it's tough to beat them , i have more classic ol wets then i do nymphs in my fly box's
-
wayne don is correct on the cost of the good stuff , yet it is well worth it not allot of money is made on a custom built rod , most guys do it as they love it , and if i was you i'd try to spend as much as you could to get the very best components , don't try to save like $3.00 when it comes to picking a stripping guide or snakes over the cheeper brands , your rod is going to be a custom build , so pimp it out some , it's your ride and money lots of good choices , i already sent you a couple really classy builders by email , and if you need advice on whats good components , just ask , allot of guys on here like the good stuff when it comes to there rods , bottom line is this is a special rod for you for a long time of use , might as well have a classy looking one that everyone will see and wish was in there hands for casting
-
wayne do your homework and you'll be way more then happy , allot of good builders today , i never buy a new rod when you can get the same rod custom built for sometimes even less then a new one in a store , your rod will be better with the little extra's that you add on , and the sage z axis is a good common rod that allot of builders useing sage's blanks if you need some place to start , i know allot of custom builders , email me and i'll send you some guys that will give you 100% warranty and the workmanship will blow your mind , nothing come close to what a custom rod is compared to the rods you see on the racks in the fly shops , you pick and spend the amount you want , you buy a new rod off the store rack , walk out the door and use the rod , they go down in value fast , a custom rod built for you should hold it's value more and you'll be so happy with it in the long run , i'v had allot of custom rods built for people , you might want to think of stepping up and get a custom bamboo rod built , they only ever go up in value if you buy the right builders rod and you'll never go back to fishing with plastic sticks after you try em

smitty congrat"s you lucky SOB , wow , you really are on a run they would say , i'd like to slip you a 20 to just by lotto tickets for me , i never won anything in my life except a 4 foot sub for throwing hockey pucks to the closest spot in the middle of the rink , , till just last week and i thought i was really lucky to win picture of the month on here -
jay was nice seeing you again also , at least this time we had a chance to chat some instead of on the river , good for you in that sage booth , i thought the show was really good this year , i at last seen allot of new faces to go with the FFC crazy name handles , and was nice seeing old long lost friends , i'm looking more forward now for the spring , were over the hump now , after the show the winters just seems to go faster
-
well that really sucks , i hate losing stuff myself , so i'll be at the show again all day on sunday , i'll ask around for you , the best thing you have going for you is it's a fly fishing show and your chances are better then if left at a mall , most people who fly fish have some honesty in them , keep your fingers crossed
-
