  1. Andrew of all the drift boats i have yet to see , nothing for looks comes close to them drift boats that the ''montana boat builders site that jay listed '' puts out , if your good enough and can build that recurve boat and have the place and time , plus know what your doing , you'll love it , it's a dream boat of mine , missed one a couple years ago for $7500 by only a couple hours , they always need more TLC , but who cares if your running a boat like that , end of the season spend a day and touch it all up for the next season , dame fine boats , just way way to costly for a new one to be built for this old guy
  2. i seen him coming and threw way up into the tree's and snapped it off befor he got close to me , easy on 6 x tippet and a size 16 , LOL , no really i haven't got a ticket for a long long time except a speeding ticket and i do get the odd 649 ticket's when it's up around 40 million
  3. Taco they were around lots in 2010 , was checked myself twice by the hired guy , and seen em driving on all section roads , not sure the ones driving were reg officer or the stream watch ones hired , i'm sure they do some watching at spots that you can't see them , which is good , the one guy did tell me had talked to lots of bad guys about the quads running in the river , i thinks it a good thing , better then having no one to watch , he also told me that the big ticket at that time when i seen him was '' not de barbing the hook'' which came at no surprise to me ,
  4. 17 ft , even in a Carron rod , thats just way to big for me Bruce' , so with me '' i'll just go home '' , i tried a few rods this year , one thats dear to me and special is the Canadian gold medal stick , Meiz's MKS , 13'6 , 7/8wt , I caught and landed to net over 40 steelhead this season on it , everyone who has tried the stick is love'n it , throws big tips and big flies easy , i also enjoyed casting a Guideline lecie , picked it up and my first cast was pushing close to 100 ft , left me with a smile , used johnny's loop while we were up in skeena to try it out as it had the square handle , like the rod , the handle was not my cup of tea , looking forward to the new year coming and i have new rod to test drive for 2011 on the bow ,
  5. Hi craig a drift boat for rent , i have a brand new 2011 hyde Low Pro in alum that i will be renting out this season to FFC forum members , like yourself most guys on here don't need a guide to catch fish , most just want to float the river , the last few years i'v been asked many times about a boat to rent from guys , i decided this year to get one , when i'm not double booked up it's open to you , i'll be renting it for $150 , thats like $50 a guy , where can you do a float for $50 , and i can handle shuttles for you also if needed , but save yourself some money and if 3 of you go then just shuttle yourself , and if anyone is wanting to learn to row a drift boat , i have a guy who will do a day trip with you while your at the oars , plus stop and do some fishing here is a couple pictures of my New Hyde Sig Low Pro , low sides so easy to get in and out and way easy to get around when the darn wind comes up , just email me or call and book your date , i think weekends will fill up sooner then mid week days , anyone wanting to secure dates for the season , just let me know , please pass this on to all your fishing friends thanks dutchie
  6. doc you make sure you come on down , it will be allot of fun , good time for a visit and catch up on stuff , i'm going to bring in some very special rare hardys for a show and tell , diff checks and even a big 1912 with round line guard , nice big spey reels for steelhead and salmon , plus a few other items might even bring the gold medal stick so you can step outside and fool around some , maybe that ol skinny dog '' toolman '' will show up , you might be able to suck him into a casting contest out back , i think you can take him 'LOL' see you at 12
  7. thanks for putting this on , super great ideal and looking forward to chatting with greg and his wife , and those who also decide to show up , i'll be coming for sure mike ,
  8. bradley you can't be that busy at work as your on this site posting , you should of just had your vise at work and you could of at last tied me up my darn 4 dozen leach's you still owe me since like 6 months ago , you must be waiting to send them to me at xmas
  9. nice rod you picked up , just remember these old spey rods were not made for snap T's or any fancy skagit casting , you'll snap em at the joints , you can fish it forever doing nice easy spey casts , a good starting point would be a scandi kit , then weigh a silk line and get close to what you like i have a couple hardy salmon silk lines that i would let you try out , not for sale , for your rod i'd stay away from a brand new silk line as they can run as high as $250 , nothing wrong with a older silk line thats been cared for , i have some i use that are 70 years old , you can get a good mint salmon line in silk for about $100 if you keep your eye's open , or a well used one for around $40 , they last a long time , first thing is to find what you or better what your rod like's and then i'll help you find a line , great rod for skating drys on the bulkley , you'll have a blast when you hook up
  10. i have had nothing but good luck with airflo compact skagit lines , tough as hell if you ask me , not saying i wouldn't try anything else as i would , i'm needing another compact skagit line and would like to hear some feedback on what else is being made or on the market that one can buy also some opinions on the best running line thats for sale , some say the new loop running line is pretty good , might even be the best , johnny had it on his new loop reel , pretty costly but he sure like it
  11. knotlikely just got back from steelheading , sent you a pm , have a bunch of meiser rods and anytime now i'm free to hit the river if you wish to try some models out , or you can just stop by and take one yourself for a day silverdoc it sucked you had to work and couldn't go with me and johnny , we caught more then our fair share and took it upon ourselves to catch yours also , we knew you would understand , the fly's were killers , lets chat some day this week , also will be next year for a trip , and johnny and i already working on a new trip for 2011 ,
  12. LOL , you hate everyone , roddy says he'll be thinking of you for the next 2 weeks , not me , i just think how rotten it's going to be someday getting pulled over by you and getting a ticket , we will send you some pictures to make you feel better ,
  13. ryan i sent you a email , but just in case you didn't get it were all sorry , Bob won't be able to make it , he went away for the month of Augs with his wife , closed shop , now back and trying to catch up on his orders , i'm going myself away for 3 weeks , if you want to try a few Meiser rods before i go , send me a message and i'll meet you , thats goes for anyone , myself or doc will meet you , i have a few nice trout rods , plus a 6 wt switch rod in 11 ft thats wicked deadly on the bow , and for bigger rods , have his S rods series , one in a 7 wt that will handle any salmon or steelhead , even chinook's if you ever decide to chase em , the same model landed a few chinooks in 30 , 40 and 1 over 50 this year , i'm taking the 7 and the gold medal stick with me for steelhead this year maybe in the spring we will try again to hold it
  14. brian and dick or rick i'll be seeing you both on saturday as i'm all done and now free after the 17 sept , and sad you can't make it steelhead fishing this year brian , LOL , Roddy and i will be thinking of you as we pulling them pigs in

He"s helping a bunch of guys get tuned befor they head out steelhead fishing. If you need another meiser rod or anything. Let me know and I"ll help you that way. 16. very nice , thanks for sharing that , i'll have a hard time sleeping now for the next 25 days ,
  17. i found a big brown trout head only today at upstream of police on river right , fish would of been a good one , why would anyone want to eat a old brown trout
  18. crazy crazy world we live in these days it's also the same as fly reels , check them with your bags , i had a couple guys fly in and they had a tough choice , leave the fly reels behind or remove the lines , they said the fly lines could choke someone , they ripped the brand new lines off and backing , had to buy new stuff when they got into calgary , so i think it's best to just put everything in your main luggage and check it all in , then your ok
  19. cool very nice fish brian , thanks for sharing that with us ,
  20. AL well i'm late again , anyway happy birthday to you , you old fart , hope it's was a good day for you , all the best to your health for the next year and may your rod be bent over lots this season , and your other rod straight lots also , LOL , see you on the 17 augs
  21. mr fish4trout come on now , i'm not calling you out , YOU stated i'd regret it if i said it to YOU , i just stated back to you come see me and i will say it to your face after you sent me the email , i personly think your just bitter , maybe have a hate on for guides or anyone who has a drift boat or just maybe you stink at fishing there is always two sides to every story and you forgot to add a few things , just thought i'd let everyone hear the other side , read your first post , i said i was sorry to you on the bank , which you seemed fine with , sent you a email and said again 4 times sorry and why i ask your friend '' the spinfishing guy '' who at the time i didn't know was your friend and was fishing with you , and my reason why i asked him , you came back with a email to me saying bullshit and crying fowl , it was just as easy for you to say that you had a friend down the bank 100 yards , you didn't say anything but nod your head , so as far as i knew he was by himself , standing in the tall grass chucking spin gear out in the river , lets just chat about that for a min , i have nothing against or see nothing wrong with the way anyone fishes as long as by the rules , i myself have even taking out while guiding the odd guy who wants to throw and use spin gear , just yesterday the old guy who's birthday at 70 only wanted to use rap's with his ultra light spin gear , so he did , just in my boat the trebles are off and only a small single hook on the raps , so you see i don't have anything against the way anyone fishes , just as long as no bait , no trebles , no snaging them , but there is as i'm sure you must know a lot of poaching going on the river , i have yet to see a fly fisherman walking out with a bag full of fish , or a fly fisherman just taking one fish , and i'm on the river allot , lets face it most fly fisherman have some respect for the outdoors and the whole ideal of fishing , now this year alone, i have seen a 28 inch brown poached just above Mac's by a spinfishing guy , i have seen many times spinfishing guys useing worms and bait , there is no DOUBT that 99% of the poaching is being done by spinfishing guys , hate to say it but thats the facts , call fish and wildlife and ask them , 2 days ago at police boat launch at 3 in the afternoon , wardens sitting and waiting to catch a spinfishing guy who was useing bait , they have found and have his bait tub , so you see it is happening on the river lots , and yes i will call it in anytime i see it or even think it's happening , and it's pretty easy to tell if a fish is over 14 inchs even from a couple hundred yards away drifting by , i'm sure alot of members have seen it going on , i seem to remember reading lots of posts about it , maybe now you might understand why i asked him how his fishing was going on , and if he like to eat em , if he was doing nothing wrong then so be it , if he had said he like the fish and showed me some , well i'd of called it in on him this whole thing is not about what was said , in your very first post you stated you knew me , then you could of just as easy sent me a email or even calling me like i said to you in the message , but no , you just wanted to start something and bitch or cry , maybe you should slip down to the nearest london drug store and get a baby suesse and hook it on your vest for when the next time your fishing and things just don't go as you'd of like you can sit back and suck on it like my little granddaughter does with hers when upset rightyleegs guides are not professionals ,you watch to much TV , thats doctors and lawyers , we just fish and make a little money doing what we like and it comes with some perks , don't worry about my company , i'm doing just fine as it is , maybe a little to fine , one can never make everyone happy , always will be someone who hates you or don't like what your doing , thats what emails for , life is way to short , go fishing and catch a few , enjoy it , and stop hiding behind your name also , that alone says alot to a person , like the guy who goes around makeing all the stupid posts calling himself jayjones11, or is that you also and thats all i have to say about this whole stupid post
  22. i was not even going to make a reply to this yet after his last post , i now decided to well what mr fish4trout ''didn't tell '' and again i think anyone who hides behind a forum handle and can say what he wants is a coward , plain and simple , while floating yes at the last second i seen him , not standing in the water but up on a bank , easy to see someone standing in the water and on the bank if level , not so easy as he was above eyesight and in the tall grass along the bank , i did as soon as i seen him , stated i was sorry , he just nodded his head , my guy in the front of the boat was 68 years old and yes he had already casted , whippie do , mr fish4 trout was nymphing , my guy was throwing a dry , mr so called fish4trout could of just as easy waved his hat or said hi dutchie ; as he stated he knows me , then i would of known he was there and without a doubt i would of pulled away from him , he could of easy of said i have a friend down the same bank 100 yards down , again he never said anything , the only reason we seen the guy chucking worms or whatever in the river was at the last second it landed out in front of the boat , and he also was up on the bank in dark green cloths or whatever , not muchhigher then the tall grass i never asked him that question as he stated first , this is how the coverstation went , the ol guy in the front of the boat said sorry , i said to him how was fishing , he replied , i asked him what he was useing , again he replied , then i asked him if he eats his fish and how do they taste , i sure did as i have asked it befor and if they reply yes i ask them to show me the fish they caught and then i call it in to RAP , the guy just said he didn't eat fish , at no time did we know he was a friend of mr fish4trout , what mr fish4 trout also didn't say or just maybe he forgot was that we ended up doing that same float twice more and stayed well clear of him and his bank , also he forgot to state that i sent him a email stating just how sorry i felt , and explained myself , well saying sorry don't do no good to mr fish4trout as all i got back was a nasty mouthy reply from someone who's a coward to hide behind a name , if you read his last post it says one thing yet his reply to me saying bullshit so me now thinks that mr fish4trout is nothing but ""a wee little dog with a big bark" just wanting to cause *hit , even after a guy makes a mistake , and says sorry like 4 times , yes i got to close , it happens to us all , at least we said sorry , heck you don't see everyone on here crying about the rafts and all the drift boats , jet boats , we just move on and keep fishing , so you made a statement that if i said it to you , i would regret it , well mr fish4 trout , you just come see me and i'll not hide behide my name like you '' and i'll call ya a bait fisherman to your face , so you can take my sorry now and shove it , i really don't care what you think after reading your post and pm to me , and don't worry i couldn't give a rat ass if you ever booked a trip with me you crybaby have a good day dutchie and Dave i agree pretty well with what you said , same as you mike
  23. yes , ziplock bags is all i use , just add a tag inside stateing what wt your lines are if you have a bunch , which you will end having sooner or later , them wallets are mostly for leaders and sink tips , and i think pretty costly for something simple like they are , i have found a place one can pick em up for about $9.00

CONGRATS another nice looking fish , good colour on him , and for doing it all by yourself you take a wicked good picture
  25. myself i like having it come straight across , a bigger profile for the fish to see , thats if in a drift boat floating , pounding the banks and with 2 guys it really is deadly as your covering the water every foot or so , sooner or later your in his face and sometime i think they hit as it is in his space and they lash at it now on your question , if i was on shore , i'd be throwing down slightly and across and a couple good upstream mends to slow it down as much as you can , have it swing right into the bank , very slowly bring it in about 10 to 20 feet , do it over again , couple cast and then take a couple steps down and do it again , your covering water ,
