HOLLY *hit , another one , you must of fish a time or two with Brian '' hawgstoppah '' then , when all else fails and he starts to twitching , look out as he brings out the so called red leach
-
pound them at any times , but i think it's best after the first day and like you said when it's more steady and stable , i myself like it dirty for throwing big streamers up to the grass on the bank , you don't have to worry about spooking them in close to much . 5 or 6 strips in and then right away , cast again down about a foot or two from the last spot it hit near the bank , bigger the splash when it hits the water , the better it seems also , and you have to be hitting that water within a foot of the bank , sometimes add a small split shot to the head of the streamer to get it down fast , i like a 7 ft 14 lb test leader , your going to be all tucker out after a few hours so just relax and take lots of little breaks , and you'll lose some skin on your fingers from stripping in lots , but nothing comes close for excitement when it hits the water with a big splash and the water mega blows up , good luck

building cane rods is a life time of learning , when your good and if your lucky , you could be like some builders having a 7 year waiting list and getting $5000 a rod , dream for the top , with todays internet and the passing of info , allot of builders help new guys out , in the city is a friend of tom morgans who has his mill for doing strips , also i know a few good friends who i can set you up with that has been building cane rods for a long time , they make a living only with building cane rods but they are true masters at finish work , i could never do it as don't have the heart for it , only the love of fishing them i like bamboo rods , nothing comes close for a dry fly rod with real silk line , i have some of the best builders rods on the market , i'v been fishing with bamboo guys and have seen allot of great rods the last few years , i'm taking a great bamboo rod builder this year on a week trip , his rods as good as you'll ever see , and his waiting list is now 6 years long and he's stop taking orders they also have a few builders get togeathers , you might want to try to go to one , i wish you the best in taking it on , and if your fussy with being the best , you will do good , some time give me a call and i'll have you over and show you some quads, and penta's , plus a couple flamed rods , i like quads the best myself , good luck

gil if you swing by my place in okotoks with your trailer , i'll do them for you , only takes a few mins each side , easy to do , i'll show you how to pack grease into the bearing in the palm of your hand , then next time you can do it yourself , i'v done lots of packing bearings , my new trailer i had bearing buddys installed , you never have to remove the bearing to repack , just push in new grease till the old grey water grease comes all out and you see new grease and your good for another 6 months , bearing buddys the way to go

it was time i got a new camera as i wanted to take some underwater pictures , plus some HD video's , after reading all the posts and a bunch of reviews , it came down to the cannon D10 or the new Panasonic TS2 Lumix 14 MP , i decided only on the TS2 as it was more slimmer and not so bulky as the cannon , i think they pretty well the same in value , so far i love it and by the time i learn everything about it , well then it will be time again for another one ,

dutchie replied to bigbowtrout's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
that was a good video, if it was me , i'd of given it to him while he was in the river trying to swim , or let the dog have his ass when he hit the shore , them 2 dogs wanted a piece of him , now that would of made a good video -
http://www.bnet.com/2346-13239_23-419915.html these pictures really show the wreck on the rig , sad to see the mess and i think they won't get it stoped till she's run dry of oil , they say 2 years , worlds going to a mess , can someone tell me why they just don't burn it off , must be a reason and i'v often wondered why ?? , i think it would be better then killing all wildlife
-
wicked nice looking stick for sure , the burled wood is what ?
-
ulmo i have a couple pair of simms pants , love em , the newer ones have the zipper pockets and built as tough as the G4 or G3 full waders , good points cooler in the summer , easy to get on & off , easy when having to go when mother nature calls , i like em more then full waders drawbacks is you can only wade so far as full waders you can really go deeper , in truth one very rarely wades that deep to need full up waders , just sometimes , if you want best of both waders then go with the simms convertables , i have tried them and they are best of both , if i was to only have one pair of waders , then it would be the simms G3 convertables , and last you get what you pay for in good waders
-
nice looking fish Al , did you take a brit along for company
-

Bow River Adventures Bringing Bob Meiser To Town
dutchie replied to dutchie's topic in Spey Casters Lounge
Well sorry folks , bad news , got a phone call today from Bob , due to very personal reasons at the last min , Bob can't make it , he says sorry to everyone at this time ,and really was excited about coming to calgary for a few days to meet everyone ,plus to fish after , we were planning a big float for the second day with about 5 boats lined up , the plans are to now maybe hold it in Sept just before we all head out steelhead fishing , we thought about still holding it as his rep from B.C was also coming so we'd have about 10 differant rods for those to test drive , but after lots of chat we decided best to just hold off till Bob comes himself , he really wants to come to calgary and those people that wanted his lines and those that wanted a rod, i will get them for you asap by fed x , again everyone , from myself and Bob , sorry we had to cancel it at this time -
Will Someone Teach Me To Fly Fish?
dutchie replied to SanJuanWorm's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Lynn oh ya , nice ride , i even like the colours , good for you , -
hi you ol bird dog , al , thats the best way if you put them on in-line , i like to go with the leach first and then tie off the end of the hook the light copper john fly , i also go about 15 inch's between them , another way i really like is leach on the bottom and about 12 inch's up have a dropper about 6 inch's with the copper john on it , and when the river bottom is full of weeds or dirty with junk , slap the split shot on the bottom with 2 droppers above , your split shot will be in the junk on the bottom while your bugs will stay pretty clean and you won't be having to clean them all the time ,
