  1. Tie a bunch, if you're gonna fish it properly you're gonna lose a few.
  2. If I was buying a waterproof camera and I wasn't such a cheap bugger, this would currently be the one I'd go for. Looked at them the other day and was impressed.
  3. Robert, Corral is about 4k in by the old road, takes me about an hr roughly. I believe the biologist in question could do it in 45-50 provided he had a rock in his damn shoe. I walked in another 1 1/2k. The brook/cutt balance up Willow that far seems to be more like 75/25. When I catch some time I need to do the same thing up Corral. The muddler.. I float it until it sinks then I dead drift it, swing it, skip it up stream, let it drop into log jams or root balls and swim it up and back. Doesn't seem to matter much. Make 3-4 passes and nothing happens..move on. Been usin' mostly standard muddlers sz10 or 12, about 5' of furled leader and 2'-3' of 3x fluorocarbon tippet, floating line on an old 8' 5wt fiberglass Phillipson. Old school kinda stuff.
  4. Jeez ya get up early Robert 32 more yesterday. All, once again, on a small muddler. walked in an hr and a half.
  5. Thanks Jim Since I took a big swing and a miss at IDin' the first fish I thought I'd better keep my yap shut on the rest,
  6. TU has never yet found a brown above the Palmer's dam which doesn't mean some knob didn't walk a few around.
  7. Consensus from the experts is that it's likely a tiger. One problem with that, there's not supposed to be any brown trout that high up in that system.
  8. I'm likin' the 40 yr old Shakespeare. Old glass is cool, I've been exercisin' the relative hell outta a 40 yr 8' Phillipson Master this yr. It's got a 7 1/2' little brother that needs a lot more exercise though..... Come on September!! Thanks for the post man, nice to know I ain't the only one out there fishin' old glass.
  9. I was fishin' the southern end of the Porks at the same time, never did quit fishin'. Storm slide by to the north. Found a few 13-14" cutts in a creek 3' wide... coupla gawddamned old beaver runs in the tall grass too.
  10. I had a bit of a wreck this weekend trying to hot smoke some brook trout and ended up with brook trout jerky... tastes friggin good though. Gonna have to build me a steel smoker box, gas grills make peepoor elevated firepits.
  11. Y'all re register Don? No physical barriers that I aware of. However, of the nonbrookies I have caught in the past 2 yrs the relatively pure looking cutthroat have almost all been above the month of Iron Ck. The rainbows and crossbred cuttbows have all been below that point. No bull trout are left in Willow that I'm aware of. Of the 250 fish or so I've recorded in the creek so far, less than 10% have been nonbrookies
  12. Or how to season your steak from 10 metres downwind...
  13. Isn't police issue spray much stronger than bear spray?
  14. Anyone ever read the instructions on a can of bear spray? It tells you to immerse the affected area in cold running water for 20-25 minutes.... yeah right, I can just see someone standin' up to their tits in a cuttie hole with 7 or 8 degree C water flowin' by. I managed to miss Johnson and The Boyz but I might as well have if I gotta stand in the friggin freezin' river for 25 minutes.
  15. quick fast inhales are good for you.....
  16. Man up and wade wet....
  17. Agreed Dave. Just trying to do something for the remnants in one tiny headwater stream
  18. That fish was caught above the locked gates on South Drywood, based on location and the dorsal vermiculations on the body, I was assuming bull/brookie http://individual.utoronto.ca/venturelli/P...ichEtal2011.pdf Jim if you read this, bail in please Don't worry McLeod there's animosity toward all invasives. It's just that I consider brook trout the bigger threat at the moment
  19. In case you wondered why brook trout are a threat. A picture of a fish I caught a few yrs ago and didn't realize I had. Taken in the front range south of Pincher
  20. Yeah Yeah I know, I really should just go fishin' with crippled up ex-army hippies...........
  21. Hey it's better than landin' on your sixshooter, hearin' it go bang and havin' to stand there lookin' for holes.....
  22. If you wade wet, carry your pepper spray in a front pants pocket like I do and happen to take a dozy of a fartknocker into the river and knock the top off a large of can bear repellant please be advised, you are in for some discomfort. Damn stuff doesn't wash off in cold water.. just temporary relief at best. OH! and when you finally make it home to have a shower.... keep switchin' facecloths...damn stuff has at least a 24 hr half-life.... and put your wetwading stuff through the heavy duty wash cycle twice. I now have to get my ass to MEC to buy a large can of Frontiersmen
  23. One more Willow report; 27 brookies 5 cutthroat in 5 hrs, fish ranged from 15 to 30 cms and still all on a muddler. Nice to see a few more cutts. Walked in about 5-6k and fished back. Peter, lookin' forward to it. McLeod, thought about thumpin' it, it was legal size but not quite sure about the legalities or explanations required about possessing 25 any size brook trout and 2 rainbows over 30 cm.
