  1. Always listen when Japanese people try to help. https://juststumblingthroughlife.com/2017/05/24/kuma-dont-mean-fish/
  2. Ah, you don't have to cast that far for those pike anyway. Great shot!
  3. I would think the lower the frequency.....
  4. I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who looked, bid, and donated prizes or cash to this. Between the auction items and other people on FFC, I've raised right around $1500 from this site this year. Can't tell you all how much I appreciate it. I am also #5 out of 477 riders in fundraising right now. No way I'll stay that high, but it's cool to be up there nonetheless! Thanks again!
  5. Hah, yeah. And the Mr. Bean in question is the poster just above you!
  6. A. I would never wear that hat B. Substitute cell phone for book C. I never fall while fighting a fish. And only Troutlover gets stuck on rocks in the middle of the river-chasing my fish!
  7. There is a page for fundraisers, it will be there. But I'll update this when it starts. Have a few things donated, I should start this later this week.
  8. Ok. I'll go again this year. I'm planning on a full on scouting trip to remote BC this year, likely mid July to late July with myself and Bigbowtrout the likely scouters. I won't be able to promise fish as I've never been there (though i wouldn't be going if I didn't plan on finding some, or many). Our scouting trips typically involve more fishing than scouting quite honestly. The plan is to haul the trailer in as far as we can on a Friday and fish Saturday and Sunday. I'll auction off a spot on that trip. I did this several years ago on a different river. Find place on map, drive way into back country, fish. Anyone who has seen my blog has seen a bunch of pictures of that river over the years. Hopefully I find something similar here. Worst case is lots of beer and camp fires. I have a few other items promised. The plan is to start sometime next week.
  9. It wasn't an effing beaver! It was the king kong of brown trout. The dead burbot was beyond awesome. I have caught a stringer with 10 live speckled trout (saltwater fish) on it in the middle of nowhere Louisiana. Had a pelican fly into my cast, line wrapped around it's wing and hooked it's leg. That was interesting. Multiple seagulls. A swallow on a little creek.
  10. Folks, As most of you know, I've run a charity auction for my MS Ride every year for several years. I would like to do it again, but just wanted to gauge interest both in donations and bidding. Seems every year the participation drops, so if it's run it's course then that's fine too. Just curious. As always I can donate a day somewhere (whatever that's worth) and I can typically get a donation from one of the local shops of a float. If anyone else is interested, drop me a PM or reply here. thanks!
  11. While I agree on vibram boots needing to be cleaned like anything else, I gotta say (and this is coming from someone with a history of falling down) vibram with hardbites is the most stable sole combination I've used, and I'm including boulder filled freestones! I would have 0 issue with the banning of felt.
  12. Glad my Christmas present boots have vibram!
  13. What is the fun of fishing with someone if you can't make fun of them later? https://juststumblingthroughlife.com/2017/03/21/the-troutlover/?iframe=true&theme_preview=true
  14. I was discussing Trump a bit with a buddy of mine down south. He was telling me how I should be happy with Trump since he will be so good to the oil and gas industry, the industry which so happens to employ me. I told him that it did me a disservice to think that I would be happy with any government due to them helping one aspect of my life while potentially harming others. Same thing here. There are lots of things the cons did that I disagreed with, many that I did agree with. Same with the NDP. Picking between them forces me to weigh lots of factors, and whichever way I vote I always feel like I chose wrong. On the topic at hand, of course I thank the NDP for this. I think it's fantastic. I thought the Bow River changes were a great step. So thanks to any member of the government who happens to read this board. Great Job!
  15. I have no trouble with no random camping. I do it in places as well, but the free for all in the Castle region was totally out of control.
  16. Thank who, the government? If this deal gets done I will thank them by considering them as an alternative when the next election cycle rolls around.
  17. Folks, it is essentially free advertising for your stuff. If you want to up your clientele level, might I suggest not Kijiji?
  18. Ive never done it with a fly rod, but have fished for reds with topwaters lots. Explosive is the best word. Lots of refusals and misses. Lots of "DID YOU SEE THAT???" Called strike "toilet flushes" cuz that's kinda what they sound like. Whoosh! Would be intense fun with a fly rod. Is intense fun with any kind of rod quite actually.
  19. Ditto on silver sonics. 2 seasons on my convertibles, love them. And I'm super tough on my gear.
  20. I gave him an 8 wt a few years ago, but don't know if he would still have it. I'd bring my own anyway.
  21. Here is a Trip Advisor review for Elias from last year: https://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g150789-d1937950-r338189863-Huatulco_Activities-Huatulco_Southern_Mexico.html His cell number is in the review. Tell him I sent you!
  22. I will 100% for sure find a yellow drake imitation and bring it to that run next year. Too funny. I find out tomorrow if I can ditch the crutches, could be out of the cast in 3 weeks. Get a few more trips if the October weather holds!
  23. Because I can't ever just have a normal trip. https://juststumblingthroughlife.com/2016/09/17/nothing-ventured-nothing-gained/
  24. Well,I tried to golf again yesterday. 3 holes and quit. Starting to get on my nerves now.
