ÜberFly Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 What's a "soft"?! as the title says, today is bass pros soft opening. I am going there right now to check things out. it also helps that i only live 8 km away from it. Quote
Justfreewheelin Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 What's a "soft"?! well they are opening up today to give the staff some experience, make sure all the bugs are worked out of the computer system, so they call it a soft opening. since it is not the grand opening. Quote

Guest Sundancefisher Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Let us know if they have any sales or much for stock. I can't imagine they have much ice fishing stuff. Maybe they have a good fly tying selection. Quote

Taco Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Christ I don't wanna see a picture of either of those two's ex-wives Quote
thefisherking Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 I called down there and they will be open everyday until the grand opening. They are open until 10:00 pm which kind of surprised me. Good to know if you need to grab something last minute and all the fly shops are closed. Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 its a REALLY cool store! Too bad the fly section is a bit small and the gear section is HUGE but oh well. The decorations are very impressive too, probably over $100000 is stuffed fish alone! Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Is anything else opening around there as well? Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Nope but it's still worth checking out Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I'll have to check it out. If for nothing else the aquariums. I've been to the one in Houston many times. Quote
Guest 420FLYFISHIN Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 i was there for feeding time and those big bows facecheck other fish out of the way to get the smelt first. I used to wonder where i should put the hook on a streamer and now i know with a rainbow it doesnt matter. lol I thought they would have $1 flies like WS but its priced more like fish tales and the other shops (for flies that is) on a side note i was looking at nets and why would some one pai $130 for an orvis wood net? This seems really expensive for wood and a rubber net with "Orvis" burned into the handle. Quote

Also the rubber bags are better for the fish than other types like nylon and your flies don't get tangled in the mesh. Quote
acurrie Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Durability and quality of the wood. Also the rubber bags are better for the fish than other types like nylon and your flies don't get tangled in the mesh. But still???? $130 ?? Take the name off and its worth $40 like most other nets are. Quote
SanJuanWorm Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Bass pro carries orvis products as well then? Quote
Nick0Danger Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Bass pro carries orvis products as well then? Yes they do they also have an exclusive olive mid arbour only available though bass pro shops. Quote
jayjjones11 Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 But still???? $130 ?? Take the name off and its worth $40 like most other nets are. Orvis, Rushton, Brodin, Fisknat and many other hand made nets: all over 100 bucks, and far nicer nets then anything you'll get for less then a hundred bucks Quote
