darrinhurst Posted March 7, 2009 Author Posted March 7, 2009 Ok boys, another "big", "must win" game against the Laughs tonight. PLEASE, PLEASE put in a better effort than that joke you pulled against the Senators. Please. Quote
birchy Posted March 8, 2009 Posted March 8, 2009 I'll take it! Good fight right at the end too! Quote
birchy Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 And we can't fire MacT because??? http://tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=270525&lid...s=topStory_main Quote
darrinhurst Posted March 9, 2009 Author Posted March 9, 2009 Clearly because MacT is the best coach in the NHL......why do you ask? Quote
adc Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Wonder if Carby would like to see what life's like in the wild west?? Quote
TerryH Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Interesting -- Montreal is in 5th place with 77 points and the coach gets canned because the team doesn't seem to be motivated when it comes to important games. The Oilers who are in 7th place with 70 points suffer exactly the same disease. However, it would appear the coach has a life-time appointment. Breaking news: Brent Sutter wants to be closer to his Alberta ranch. Is Edmonton close enough? Quote
darrinhurst Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 I'll take Harvey the Hound at this point. ABM (Anyone But MacT) Quote
Suntoucher Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Interesting read... http://www.nypost.com/seven/03082009/sport...ible_158508.htm Quote
adc Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 A really good 40 minute effort........I wonder if McT has told the boyz that hockey is a 60 minute game.......How many points have we wasted this year with that lacklustre, "let's try and protect our one goal lead" style of play??.....You just KNOW how it's gonna end........Bloody brutal!! Quote
TerryH Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 ......How many points have we wasted this year with that lacklustre, "let's try and protect our one goal lead" style of play??.....You just KNOW how it's gonna end........Bloody brutal!! You forgot the other two key parts of the strategy. 1. Don't do anything to improve the PP after 7 games of PP scoring failure. Thus when you get a PP chance in the last 3 minutes of a tie game, you can pee away the opportunity. 2. Take a penalty in overtime to cinch the loss. Quote
darrinhurst Posted March 11, 2009 Author Posted March 11, 2009 The game never should have gone to OT in the first place. Koivu's goal was clearly off his glove. That pissed me off. Quote

MMAX Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 To sum up the performance tonight...pathetic. This team does not deserve to make the playoffs. Quote
adc Posted March 15, 2009 Posted March 15, 2009 To sum up the performance tonight...pathetic. This team does not deserve to make the playoffs. Pathetic is being kind........Absolutley predictable........And you're right, they don't deserve to make the playoffs and likely won't..........YUCKO!! Quote
darrinhurst Posted March 15, 2009 Author Posted March 15, 2009 As much as I want them to make the playoffs, I kind of don't. Because I have a faint glimmer of hope that if they miss the playoffs again, MacT will be fired. However, I am not so sure that would be a good thing or not since they will likely replace him with someone else from the old Boys Club, like Buchberger. Then, I am afraid I would have to kill myself. Or start cheering for the fLAMES. But I think I'd rather kill myself. Quote
darrinhurst Posted March 21, 2009 Author Posted March 21, 2009 Wow, nice time for the boys to string together a few wins! First, a shoot out victory over the Blues, that really seemed to spark something in Kotalik, considering the next game, the 8-1 drubbing of the Avs, where he gained four points setting up Gagner's first Hat Trick, and getting his first as an Oiler. Then tonight, a hard fought effort against the Blackhawks where he wins it in the shootout for the boys again. Nicely done! Too bad the damn fLAMES couldn't hold onto the lead to keep the Blues out of their hair...... Quote
MMAX Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 3 in a row, looks like they're putting together a run. I'd love to see them play the shames in the 1st round. Quote
birchy Posted March 28, 2009 Posted March 28, 2009 51 saves?! Holy Roli! PS - Fire Craig MacTavish. Quote
bigbowtrout Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 A few cus words but AWESOME LOL Click here if the movie does not play. Quote
Weedy1 Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Well that was a nice try for the Oilers this year. Maybe next year. Or the year after. Or maybe the year after the year after. Quote
Ricinus Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 I think they like golf better than hockey. Sigh.... Regards Mike Quote
birchy Posted April 1, 2009 Posted April 1, 2009 Well.. there's one positive to this whole thing, only 5 more games with MacT as head coach. Mark my words here and now.. If the Oilers do not fire Craig MacTavish at the end of this season (I'm assuming they're not making the playoffs yet again), I WILL OFFICIALLY BE A FLAMES FAN NEXT SEASON. Quote
